Stella had been running around for the last twenty minutes, desperate to burn off some energy. She’d gone above ground, zipping across the ruined roads of New York. Such a vibrant and lively place it had been, ‘the city that never sleeps’ – it had been dubbed oh so long ago. Now, it seemed to be in a restless slumber, doomed to never wake again, return to the cultural epicentre it had once been.
Nonetheless, Stella still enjoyed the view, no matter how distorted with villainy it had become. She’d started a new life here, one that’d be impossible to leave behind because a) it was so much fun and b) because she wasn’t sure how to reverse what had been done to her. But she didn't want to reverse it anyway. This super speed, this feeling of being the fastest person in the world- it was electrifying to be the girl no one could catch. She was in just as quickly as she was out. She could outrun jets, she could skip across oceans, heck, she could run up and down mountains.
Taking a look at her watch, Stella’s phone had begun playing ‘Sweet Dreams’, and she chuckled, quietly, listening to it. 6:10 . Not too late to head back. Then again, she could be anywhere within seconds. Yet, Stella still turned around, at that exact moment, zooming back to the tunnels. Truth be told, she was feeling rather hungry. Her newfound powers required energy. A lot of it.
Soon she had some coffee brewing and a few cakes Stella had found somehow. It was more than she could ask for at this point. Grabbing the grounded coffee granules, the speedsted put it in the machine and watched everything blend together to form the black, inky liquid she lived off of, while she wrapped the earphones around her phone. Around this time, she, faintly, heard Aubin and Amberle wake and grabbed some extra mugs for the other two.
Approaching their rooms, Stella noticed the tunnels were chillier than usual, her breath condensing on the spot, looking like wisps of smoke. Entering, slowly- well... as slow as she could (which was still practically almost swinging the door off its hinges), Stella smiled, widely.
“Buonjiorno mi amici!” her voice was jubilant and enthusiastic as always.“It’s much colder than usual, what’s up?” Stella sat on her own bed, facing the other two. While drinking from her own mug, Stella offered the other two some of the drink and the food. She shivered, a little, as being still meant she was more susceptible to the cold.
“Ah, Aubin? Any chance you could... how to say this... make the ice go away? Sorry if that sounded rather childish.”
