Shade continued where he was, trying to pinpoint where the hazel grouse was. he opened his mouth to calculate the scent when he saw the bird over some roots in a clearing. the bird squawked a few times making shade realize his mistake up being upwind. once the bird flew into the air, the tom leapt but missed the birds body and clipped its wing. it was an ugly kill but it counted as several feather flew when the bird attempted to flee.
