The year is 2130. Over time, much of the world fell into dismal state. Poverty amongst humans became increasingly common, governments became even more corrupt than before, and much of nature has died off, becoming 
extinct at the hands of mans selfishness. Yet despite this scientists began to experiment more freely with things such as bacteria and viruses. One of these diseases, an altered form of smallpox, was released by accident into the public. The virus quickly killed millions, who never even had time to consider any sort of prevention. The world that was already in shambles began to plummet further.
In a city full of the dead and dying, room for other creatures to roam the emptied places. The virus affected humans alone, so the animals that had survived the long years before were unaffected by this new virus. However, a virus could remain dormant in an animal's body, using it to spread the disease.
Dogs, abandoned by families or left alone because the virus killed their home, went to the streets. Those that could not escape died. Most didn't last for a minute, especially the smaller ones. Packs formed, territories were founded, and eventually, the mostly-empty City of Man had become separated into two things: a small colony of humans resistant to the disease, and the dogs outside.
Feral, most turned. Since they had little experience with people apart from as dead corpses, mostly used for food, the dog packs trailed humans. They hunted them, as well as each other. In the new city, called the Stranglehold of Life, survival became the main game. Only the strongest females could birth litters. Only the strongest of the litters survived.
Seven years have passed and within the Stranglehold itself, human gangs are frequent, seeming to form packs similar to the dogs outside them. With few people left outside of the Stranglehold many of the cities have turned to ruin, being kept up by no one and at the mercy of whatever animals choose to take residence there, though inside the Stranglehold things still appear to be at least somewhat normal despite a lack of people. Many of the outside cities, however, were torn down and ravaged by man in their search for those effected by the disease and in their pursuit to get rid of them. Because of this, much of the surrounding areas are barren, void of anything but small reminders that towns and cities once existed.
There are a few dogs in the Man camps of Stranglehold, often used for work in an almost primitive fashion, though some are still kept for pets and a few others as entertainment—sport by means of dogfighting. To the dogs outside though, these pets are food. Game. If one strays too far, he is killed before he can speak. Human children are often subject to the same fate if they make the mistake of straying too far from their human camp.

● In character fights are not to be taken out of character or vice versa. If you have a problem with a member, contact me or one of the other staff members, explain the problem, and we'll see what we can do about it. When fighting take affect of their attacks, and don't do any serious damage to the other player with out their permission.
● No spam, mary-gary sues, no more then two characters, double posting, wings, wolves, or powers etc, arguing [out of character], flaming, power play, dogs with un-ushual markings are accepted but no sparkle dogs, this is a semi lit roleplay so atleast two sentences, and don't be rude. Romance, drama, and fighting is encouraged.
● Cussing is allowed but don't go overboard, by overboard I mean by using the words that CS blocks out as 'I need to watch my language.'
● No forced breeding/mating or death. Descriptive birth, mating, or killing/death is not tolerated. If you really want to be
that nasty, take it to private. If it is posted in public it will be reported.
● Clothing/accessories are permitted but I don't expect a feral dog to have so so if your dog if feral please describe how they got the clothing.
● It is assumed the settings is in America. So accents are discouraged if you don't have a history from where they came from. Sap stories of how their parents died is also discourages along with being defenceless, a pup, being a small/toy breed, or being a hybird.
● We are looking for breeds as in Huskies, Malamutes, Great Danes, German Shepherds, Irish Wolfhounds, Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Border Collies, and large mutts are encouraged.

Creating a Pack:
● Only active members may start a pack. You must be an active member of Stranglehold for at least one month before being allowed
to create a pack. This prevents members from coming, creating a pack, having people join, then going inactive a week later and ultimately destroying the pack.
● Pack must be started by whoever wishes to have their character be the leader/alpha but stupid acts of the pack will be resulted in it's destruction. Keep in mind that staff will be very care full with them.
● Packs do not have to have a set territory! So I guess you could call them gangs pretty much. ='P
● You must fill out the form/application provided below and send me youor application. You will be notified by private message when it is accepted by me only.

History: Toki was the 'pet' of a horrible drug dealer and dog fighter at a very young age. He used to have a long tail like a normal german shepard but the human cropped his saddly. His parents are said to be dog fighters and he was sold at one of the shows. He was trained as a fighting dog and was one for a couple of early months in his life. As the infection spread, it hit his so called 'owner' and he was left alone in a trashy back yard in a chain leash and collar. He wasn't able to slip out of the collar but out of leash and jumped over the fence and became kind of feral.
Other: Has a british accent and speaks French. He has no idea where it came from, his parents where probably transported to his current location form a foreign country and he just so happened to have one. His ears are flopped because of a cartalege loss in his ears, similar to the Scottishfold cat. The loss runs in his blood line so his pups would most likely have the same problem. His theme.

Picture/description: A rather thin character, Chance's curves are very defined. With feathered fur she seems rather feminine. Her eyes are a hazel blue, and her nose is black. Her base coat layer is a very deep gray (almost black) and gently fades in to a lighter gray scale as it runs down lower to the ground.
Personality: A very level headed, intellectual female. Chance seems to always have everything under control with others around her, and though she tends to remain low-strung and calm though she has a very expectant and stern way of commanding. Chance always wants it to look like she knows what she's doing, and puts on a very good act, though sometimes has to wing it. Some call her a leader, because she has that respected attitude but she still wants to not be feared by those around her, then she has her protective side that comes out to those she favors.

History: Chance was born in to a dog fighting ring, but because of her gender she was always chained up as a young pup. At around 8 months, when she was able to breed, her 'owner' didn't hesitate and she found herself in the clutches of a rather large husky. She gave birth to her first litter weeks later and because she wouldn't let anyone touch them without a fight she was beaten down very thoroughly each time a human even came close. But because of her beatings she was rendered incapable of producing another litter of live pups for the next year, she just didn't have the nourishment to keep the pups alive.
Her humans found her incapable of creating a litter, and because of their low intelligence they decided she would never give birth again, and then sent her out to live in the streets alone where she became feral. She did build back her strength eventually, and though she has not tried for another litter, Chance does think that she will be able to produce live pups.
She now roams the area as a feral.

Role Play Sample: She pushed past the other dogs, a dark shadow maneuvering through the crowd. Her face was shaded in to express the features of sheer anger as she came forward to face the other dogs. "What the hell did you do Chaos!?" She screamed forward, snapping her jaw at the larger male, who inevitable backed up. "When did I ever give you permission to go kill that member of the Fraternity? We're in one hell of a problem with them because of you, and I'm not about to go take on another war with a group because on of my pack members decided to be an arrogant bastard and ruin us all." She hissed with a very low growl to follow at the male. Chance was most definitely upset, not ready to face another pack and try to make peace.
The black female took another step forward, her dark eyes watching Chaos coldly as she tried to make up her mind about his future in her pack.

it isn't quite considered an 'accessory', but Canon once participated in a human experiment that severly damaged his leg.

A dog with high potential and above-average aspects, he is an outstandingly wise sage in contrast to his young spirit and stout appearance. Canon prefers words over teeth when solving issues; he possesses greater skills of dexterity, rather than general physical attacks. Though he may be believed to own the facets of a true leader, Canon would much more prefer an advice-giving position of authority. His taste for leading is as lacking as his taste for fighting.
Canon is very uneasy around strangers and humans, however. His brutal past is the only explanation for his vigilant and wary eyes. He hides true pain and hate with a seemingly secluded personality.

The adolescent kai ken was ignorant to any life but neglect; these queer and torturous research tests continued recurrently for no more than a year.
One of these experiments in particular consisted of blood test trials from Canon's, and several other animals', body parts. It resulted in a major disaster, in which his leg was permanently damaged. However, his human owner had been killed from the explosions, along with many others. As he was one of the few survivors, Canon was rushed to the medical unit for immediate treatment. His leg was plated with thick metal that bound the damaged muscle and bone together. He managed a crucial but tough escape when the treatment was over with. Living within the streets is what he does up to this day. His only last will is to survive.

Half the building is still blackened from the flames. The other half is where the heart of the medical unit lay - the half that I had resided in. I hated the doctors' ugly, sneering faces as I was laid down onto the gurney. I never knew why they bothered to save my life, anyhow. I don't quite recall what happened when they put me to sleep; I only remember feeling the new strength when my metal brace was in its place. But, now... limping is the only form of escape I can manage. The humans are all asleep now, and it is presumably midnight. I stumble clumsily out of the rotten bed they had set me in, skidding and staggering on the slippery floor. The flaccidly-awkward run to the outside world takes no more than a few minutes; however, taking the 'long way' around is vital to a silent and successful escape. For whatever reason, the lab doors are kept open during the night time. I shrug off the thoughts; it doesn't matter, so as long as I can get away. Stumbling out of the wide-open exit, I find my paws sinking into grass - real grass! My owner usually had kept me at his home, at his workplace... I was most commonly found locked inside the prisoning bars of a steel cage. No, not anymore! I have grass now! The feeling of true earth under my gritty pads is heavenly. With a taut smirk, I begin running. I'm really running. I could care less how much my leg bolster hurts now. Though I am very well aware that the city is painted mostly with buildings and synthetic things, my mind is free. I'm outside now... I've reached freedom. To Hell with the humans! I'm alive!

She wanted to stay with those humans but yet another time a human took her away. She went to an annoying 5 year old brat who tugged on her ears and tail. Before she knew it, she was on the streets. The streets felt nice on her paws and she made a life. Slowly learning how to charm and manipulate.

Tyson shrugged. "I'm still working on it. We have food. And quite a bit. Those other scrawny mutts will just be too easy to manipulate, you know?" He woofed, keeping his head high and his tail a bit higher, signalling he was boss. He travelled farther down the alley, the chain of gang members stopped. And he sat.

There is only one way into the building itself—through the old cellar in the back, which is difficult for most dogs to get into, but as the door is broken it can be pulled up enough for a dog to fit through by a particularly clever dog. There’s little of interest inside, most of the classrooms that do not have shut doors have already been picked apart by dogs and other animals, but they still offer a dry and somewhat soft place to sleep. Outside is far more interesting, though humans are occasionally there. There is a small old playground and a baseball field partially surrounded by chain-link fence. The few remaining human children occasionally come here, which often are more friend than foe to dogs, though much of the time they are also accompanied by adults, which can pose a risk to wandering dogs.

Most would expect hospitals would be filled to the brim with the large amount of people falling ill; this is not the case with Cavalry. A short time after the outbreak it was set on fire by a gang that was absolutely terrified of catching the virus, believing anyone who caught it should be killed immediately in order to prevent it from spreading further. Knowing that there was no cure for the virus, the building was burned with many people inside. The fire was put out, but due to a lack of healthy doctors, and even fewer willing to risk exposure, along with a lack of resources and money, it closed its doors for good. The inside shows a fair amount of damage from the fire, but the damage from the water of putting the fire out is even more noticeable. Mold now creeps up many of the walls and much of the interior is rotting. It is dangerous for a dog to go inside due to the unstable nature of the building, though it is relatively easy to gain access to due to several broken windows. Human rumors of it being haunted by the ghosts of those who died in the fire are believed by many humans as well as some dogs

Long since abandoned, the old enclosures and cages are no longer home to the exotic beasts that once resided there. With few healthy people left to care for them, and most people’s concern being their own health after the outbreak of the virus, the majority of the animals were killed for lack of knowing what else to do with them. The place is mostly abandoned by people and though it was never an incredibly large zoo, it is still quite spacious and offers many places for a dog to hide. Some old skeletons of the corpses of animals who were not fortunate enough to have been killed by man early on or those whose bodies were left afterwards can be found, though these are rare. The entrance is locked with a tall iron gate, but access into the zoo via other openings is fairly easy for a dog, regardless of size

The no longer in-use meat processing plant, abandoned before the virus had even broken out. The building itself is large, mostly windowless, metal, and for the most part untouched by humans. A few people may hide out in it occasionally but the seemingly permanent stench makes it unpleasant to most people. A few of the windows on the back have been broken, allowing easy access for any animal enticed by the old smell. Inside there are many wooden crates, old machinery that hasn’t moved for years, hooks, chains, and past bloodstains. Everything is cold and uninviting, made of either metal or cement, and despite what it once was, there is no food unless rats or other strays are your dish

The old apartment complex was abandoned a bit after the outbreak due to the fact that so many people living in it had caught the disease. The owner of it also died due to the virus, therefore it was simply abandoned. Several of the windows and doors are boarded up, but many of them are not. Trash litters the outside of it as some of the homeless humans occasionally loiter there and seem to not care to pick up after themselves. There is an old pool in the back, but due to not being kept up it has become a murky shade of green. There is no longer chlorine in it so it may be safe to drink, but the color and murkiness of it coupled with the layer of pond scum on top usually deters most dogs. There are only two stories to the apartments, metal staircases being the only way to access the second story

Overcrowded with both weeds and headstones, the basic upkeep of the old cemetery is lacking despite the “popularity” of it. Room for new bodies has quickly run out, and due to fear of the disease spreading, bodies are no longer buried here, but instead are burned in a small cement building towards the back near an old, giant oak tree. Bodies are stored in the building until several are accumulated and then all are burned at once, creating a terrible stench for quite a while. Visitors are no longer allowed, for fear of the healthy catching the disease, so the large iron gate in front is kept securely locked at all times. It is not impossible to get into but it is difficult, particularly for larger dogs, but the scent of rotting flesh may drive those desperate for food to try.

Two years before the outbreak, this forlorn patch of over-grown, rusting downtown Stranglehold was abandoned because of emerging legal issues with the aging equipment. Having no money to fix the place or, the owner simply skipped town. The city officials had planned to bulldoze the place and build a strip mall, but the permits became mired in politics and people that wanted to preserve their childhood treasure. Nearly a decade later, Downtown Clown Town lays in exactly the position it was on the day it closed- roller-coaster cars permanently stopped mid-track, ticket-booths still holding rolls of tickets, open cash registers, and the caps of their former attendants. Food carts holding shriveled, rancid hot dogs and chicken kabobs waiting for the customers that never came. Occasionally, the winds get so rough that the main attraction, Tilt-o-Whirl, slowly spins in place, the ancient metal squealing under the massive ride's weight. Just a bit more wind and, at times, the roller-coaster carts move on their own, rolling forward or backward, passenger-less

Nearly a decade later, Downtown Clown Town lays in exactly the position it was on the day it closed- roller-coaster cars permanently stopped mid-track, ticket-booths still holding rolls of tickets, open cash registers, and the caps of their former attendants. Food carts holding shriveled, rancid hot dogs and chicken kabobs waiting for the customers that never came. Occasionally, the winds get so rough that the main attraction, Tilt-o-Whirl, slowly spins in place, the ancient metal squealing under the massive ride's weight. Just a bit more wind and, at times, the roller-coaster carts move on their own, rolling forward or backward, passenger-less
.::The Underground::.
Located beneath the center of Stranglehold is the underground. Roughly a quarter of the size of the city itself, it holds many of the city’s “homes”, especially those of the poorer folks. Most everything is made of concrete and cement, the florescent lights lining it are not bright or frequent enough to make up for the constant lack of sun, and the faint aroma of the nearby sewer can often be smelt. Dogfights for sport are more common here, as are human gangs, and human law is lacking. Like the sewers it borders, the Underground is not particularly pleasant.

.::God's Peak::.
Named for the human belief that the mountains are somehow holy, many humans have attempted to climb to the top, thinking that once there they would be free from or cured of the disease. In truth, there is no magic or holiness about the mountains, and nearly any human who has attempted to go to the top in search of this has ended up dying. Several corpses and skeletons can be found about the mountain range, most of which have been picked apart and gnawed on by roaming feral dogs. Blizzards are frequent in the winter, and the temperatures often plummet to unbearable lows as well. Towards the base there may be some small human “camps” at times, but these rarely stay for too long. There are old ruins wound around parts of the mountainside as well, giving some form of shelter to the stray dogs and other animals.
.::Burnlands::.
The border surrounded the entire city of Stranglehold. Everything here has been burned from the city outward, leaving it nothing more than a scorched, barren expanse of earth. You may occasionally find bits of rubble, bones, or the old shell of a car. A bit of life has begun to grow back as the years have worn on, but besides the odd sapling of a tree or lone patch of grass it is all mostly dead. Water can only be found via puddles in old ruts after rainstorms, otherwise there is nothing to drink here.
.::Suicide Forest::.
Right on the outskirts of The Stranglehold, between the city and God's Peak, there is a large expanse of trees, mostly made up pines and evergreens. The entire floor is covered in thick layers pine needles, leaves, tree branches, and moss-covered rocks, there is no exposed ground anywhere in the entire expanse of the forest. It is extremely quiet, there being hardly any wildlife that makes a home here. Those that do not know the forest would call it peaceful, but when one travels deeper into the forest and discovers the dark secrets it hides, they know why it is so silent. During the downward spiraling economy, and even more after the Moscow Downing Virus was at its peak, people would come to the forest and hang themselves from the trees. Now, the entire forest is littered with skeletons and belongings of the people that ended their lives along with the occasional new suicide. Rumors spread like wildfire about the angry spirits of those that killed themselves and how they've been disrespected after their deaths. For those that are not superstitious or faint of heart, it's packed with easy meals, if you're lucky enough to beat others there. However, if you are a bit more frightened, it may be a more difficult task to face your fears and enter the Suicide Forest.
.::Lost Lake::.
To the east of the Stranglehold lies the large, murky body of water known as Lost Lake to humans and dogs alike. Once a popular vacation destination, the few lake houses have mostly been torn down. The surrounding area is mostly brush followed by overgrown forest, though the area directly around the lake is rather open and pleasant. Drinking the water is not advised for humans, though dogs seem to have no problems with it. The water is rather murky, however, making it easy for the depth of the lake to be misjudged and lead to the drowning of a foolish dog.
.::Agul Plains::.
Directly south of the Stranglehold, where the burned earth begins to fade, there is the vast expanse of Agul Plains. Though grass is not exactly plentiful, a thin layer of it covers most of the earth here, and a few large shade trees can be found in any given direction. There only water to be found is a river running from Lost Lake to Meurte sands to the east side of the plains. Large rocks can be found nearly everywhere, particularly on the south end of the plains, until it eventually meets the canyon in the south and southwest region.
.::Mallosa Canyon::.
Southwest from the plains is Mallosa Canyon. Any grass quickly fades the further into the canyon, eventually replaced with bright red rock walls that stretch above on all sides. The paths through the canyon resemble a labyrinth, making it incredibly easy to become lost here. And with no water to be found anywhere within the canyon, it’s unlikely a lost dog would last long. The day time temperatures are hot, while the nights are cold. Temperatures drop quickly here.

.::The Moscow Downing Virus::.
For those of you wondering what the disease is, this is it--my wonderful little virus that killed the entire fictional world ♥. This would, for the most part, be optional reading.
-virus files-
Name: Moscow Downing Virus
Disease Description: Virus, RNA-based. Extremely prone to mutation. Based off of Variola vera, or the virus that causes smallpox.
Infects the blood vessels of mouth, skin, lips and cheeks; common of smallpox. Also infects larger blood vessels. Will also infect vessels around the brain, nerves, heart and lungs.
Transmittable through sex, body fluids, exposure to rash, contaminated water, and through air if the rash causes bleeding in the nose, throat or lungs. It can also be passed through animal contact (i.e. bites), as the virus only infects humans. Eating a host animal causes infection, which is believed to be the reason why the disease spread so fast.
Symptoms:
-Psychosis: mostly delusions and hallucinations caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Because of the loss of bloodflow, the brain does not function properly.
-Paralysis: Similar reasoning to psychosis. However, it can also be caused by blocked bloodflow in a limb, resulting in the death of the limb.
-Rash: Painful lesions on the skin, full of dead tissue. Perhaps the most identifiable factor of the disease.
-Heart failure: Either loss of blood or over-stressing due to clogged vessels.
-Hemorrhaging: Blood will go into the skin, mucous membranes, and gastrointestinal tract.
-Lesions: Not only on the skin, but inside the nose and sometimes on vital organs
Because the infected vessels can become blocked--lesions that should appear on the skin also appear in the blood vessels--blood vessels can burst, causing massive internal bleeding. Eventually, it dries beneath the skin, making it look black. Minor bleeding in the lungs might also occur, and coughing up blood is frequent.
Other traits:
-80% death rate, without suicide factor
-Difficult to vaccinate against
-Does not always cause a rash; may infect other areas
-Any damage caused to body tissues cannot be reversed.
-Highly resistant to drugs, anti-virals, and sanitizing fluids
-Many test subjects suffered immense amounts of pain; more than a few committed suicide to get rid of the pain
Created for the purpose of biological warfare with Russia, the Moscow Downing Virus is a more deadly version of the traditional smallpox. It is similar to the typical smallpox in that it causes a horrible rash on the skin; however, the MDV will infect other vessels, not just the ones on the skin.
It was tested on prisoners of war kept at a secluded area in Canada. As soon as it was proved to be an effective means of attack, several bombs containing a gas, which contained the virus, were released into the water supplies of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Shanghai, Tehran, Hong Kong, and Beijing, among other cities. However, the virus could infect someone without them knowing it, and there were American troops in infected areas who died because of it. Animals were also able to carry the disease without side-effects, and any human that ate a contaminated animal was infected.
The scientists tried to stop the disease from progressing through mass vaccination, and that stopped it for a year or two, but the disease could mutate around just about anything. It came back, hitting hard and seeming to take anyone who could prevent any further infection.
Granted, there are people who have survived the disease. However, their appearance is disgusting at best and their mental ability may or may not be fully functional. In general, most people who contract the disease die. Those that do not die commit suicide, for the pain is astronomical.
For those going, "Why not just test it on animals?", the answer is simple. Anyone who researches Variola vera would know that animals cannot be infected by the virus. In fact, during the time when smallpox was common in England, milking maidens were actually more resistant to the disease that others, due to immunities in cows.
And for those asking if the plot is based off of I Am Legend, the answer is no. The plot was actually inspired by the memory that Variola vera is eradicated in most human environments, with the exception of some samples in either Pennsylvania or Virginia and Moscow. In fact, since it has been eliminated, there was a fear that instead of dropping bombs on each other, either the Soviet Union or the United States would sic smallpox on the other. Anything else added onto it probably came from Cold War-era movies and paranoia, or just throwing in things that made sense.
This would be one of many ideas I got from science. Pay attention, folks. You might learn something that will allow you to start a super-cool RP some day.

.::Feral Dogs::.
Well for those who don't know what a feral dog is, it's kind of a wild dog. It has no fear of humans and attack them. They are very brave when it comes to other creatures.(; They are rather vicious criters, they have a bit of a temper to. x'3 I hope this helps, I might put up a better example later.
