Such a small group accompanied Sorrelstar to the gatherin, and no cat quite knew why. Perhaps she had judged it best to let most of her clan stay and rest and recover from recent incidents, or perhaps some cosmic figure who controlled their lives was lazy and wanted not to control a whole hecking handful of cats. But whatever the reason, the weather was hot and practically unbearable, and those who had attended wished they were back at camp swimming in the river. Or at least Momo still did. The bobtail was panting as Beechclan finally made their way into the clearing, not overexerted but certainly overheated. She missed the water, it's cool touch against her felt as if she were floating in air. But air could never compare to her water- especially not muggy air like this! Why did I even ask to come? I could be late night fishing or exploring or- Oh yeah! Out of the corner of a sapphire eye, Momomoon caught sight of a certain medicine cat from a certain clan who she may or may not have seen on a certain day and subsequently had certain dreams. The she-cat had broken off from the group before Sorrelstar had even dismissed them and quite happily totted up to Honeyfur. "Hey Honey! You look nice tonight, you have an herb to keep from getting all ruffled and sweaty?" She chirped to the Thicketclan cat, grinning broadly. Anything Honeyfur had said previously had been forgiven and forgotten a while back. Hey, if you like the rude snappish type you have to be willing to put up with the rude and snappish!

Sorrelstar hadn't seen a single representative of Tumbleclan since she had arrived which was incredibly off. Certainly Sagestar may have been late a few times, as had she, but this was different. Had something changed in the gathering Beechclan had been absent? The leader had wanted to ascertain that Russetleaf was gone for good, but that didn't seem to be possible right now. Oh well, she'd send a patrol to Tumbleclan land later and find out. Right now the light brown tabby had a different problem on her paws, was she going to confront Jaystar about her daughter, or leave it for another time? The she-cat's eyes flashed as they watched the Soulclan leader share tongues with Squirrelstar, her heart tugging with a little bit of jealousy at not being able to do that with anycat anymore. Her mate had left, her best friend was dead, her daughter was captured, one of her son reclusive, and her last son... he had someone else to share tongues with now. She sighed and lept onto the leader's rock, winding her tail around her paws as she settled herself. Confrontations could wait for later, when they were better planned.

Malloweyes had made it her job to scout out potential converts in the midst of the gathering. The elder knew exactly what to look for; ambition- but not too much that it became self-righteous fanaticism. Self-loathing, that hunch to a shoulders that indicated you thought you were nothing. A simple flicker in the eyes that betrayed one's cruelty. And of course, there were those rare cats who simply seemed to be looking for her as trouble always did. In fact, she spotted one right now. "Why don't you go visit your friend Sharkfang? I have some business to attend to." Her warrior entourage grinned just as his namesake might before stalking off in search of a certain she-cat. Malloweyes simply padded up to her target and made herself clearly available. "You look lost my dear," she purred to Littlestep, "Perhaps I can help you find your way."

"Now what are you fine ladies laughing about on such a night? Something bad I hope." Sharkfang slipped in next to the two Shade Sisters, sidling up to Thistlethorn as he purred. On such a night of -ugh- peace nocat would wonder why he was so friendly with the pair of she-cats, which was good because he felt like getting very friendly with one of them. The tom admired the seamless way the pair of Soulclan warriors walked, as if every moment was a hunt- one he knew would end with bloody claws. "Of course Thistlethorn, if a devil like you couldn't stand the heat, I suppose you wouldn't be so..." He let his sentence trail off, the ending thought portrayed very evidently in his grin. Of all the she-cats Shakfang had met, Thistlethorn was by far the most attractive, physically and for other reasons.
