on the surface matchbox is a goofy character. he finds joy in making others laugh, and takes very few things seriously. more often than not, his silliness lands him in trouble. he doesn't really mind though. he's rather carefree when it comes to things like rules and regulations.

digging deeper despite appearing childish, he's not naive. he's not wise, either, but he knows what he's doing. he's had plenty experience with what living outside of a clan has to offer, considering he's been in such a situation all his life. behind his happy-go-lucky personality is a fighter. he's learnt all there is to know about defending himself, and will be quick to retaliate if he feels threatened. even so, he won't ever deliberately hurt someone unless he must. he's painfully aware of all the awful things beyond where he dwells, he just prefers not to think about it too much.

on the surface harry is quite a fierce she-cat. she'll rarely seriously injure anyone unless she has to or it benefits her greatly, but she doesn't mind small scraps. in fact, she quite enjoys them. more than physical fights, she loves arguments. particularly when she's likely to win.

digging deeper although she acts tough, she's weaker than she lets on. not so much physically as mentally or emotionally. she has major trust issues stemming from her past within her old clan, and she struggles to maintain any kind of healthy relationship because of this. her only friends, she had to leave behind when she was exiled from her clan. despite appearing cruel now, she wasn't always. she used to be a kind and caring warrior. even now, she's much nicer to those close to her than those she's apart from. or, she would if be she had anyone close to her.

on the surface nettleshade is a rather friendly tom. he's extremely talkative, almost to the point of causing annoyance in others. he enjoys helping others and keeps his morals very close to him, hence why he chose the path of a medicine cat. he's quite jumpy and easily frightened, but he can be brave when he needs to be, particularly under pressure.

digging deeper though he simply adores his life as a medicine cat, he often longs for a taste of adventure. the only times he ever finds himself exploring is when he's searching for supplies, and most of the time that means it's urgent. he tends to wonder what life beyond his clans territory is like, since he rarely strays far from the camp. unlike other cats, he doesn't feel separate from other clans. he feels more at home among his own clan, but he has nothing against other clans whatsoever.
