''Ade emem.'' snarled Unathi in frustration. ''Why are we so barren of newcomers?'' Akuchi watched the frustrated king in silence, her warm honey-brown eyes glittering with sympathy. She too had not found anyone in the vast plains and it was disheartening to think that they were all alone. Alone in a vast and empty desert. [color=#FF40FF]''I'm sorry, my king.'' Akuchi apologized, striding up to comfort Unathi. Much to her dismay he pulled away from her as though she were some sort of slobbering beast. ''Go away, you can't please me.'' Unathi mumbled grumpily. His wild mane ruffled by the breeze, the king stumbled out into the vast desert, his paws sinking in the sand and he was gone.

Raja’s arrival back at camp was announced with a loud sneeze a few seconds before he stepped in.
It was rather telling, and Kimmati was sure it wouldn’t help them hunt at all, but as the alternative was a guarantee of not having enough food, hunting seemed preferable.
On her part, her ribs had healed considerably from her bruises, and she was sure she could take the strain of at least capturing simpler prey. She didn’t want to strain herself too much, but it was better she at least tried, as having a small chance of finding something was better than not having enough food, for sure. Kimmati was sure that she could afford to go hunting this month at least, while the cubs would still be small, as long as she was careful to only go after small prey herself.
She just hoped that Raja would play along. He had to be aware that his sneezes would scare off any difficult prey before they got within a mile.

[Raja intends to become allies with the Pride of Bent Trees, or to at least be on neutral terms]
[Raja and Kimmati go hunting, Kimmati going easier than usual due to her pregnancy]

“A whole boar, kada, a whole boar!” Saaj drops its still-warm carcass onto the sand. Her eyes gleam, but her voice is quiet, straining to form words. “Kek has blessed us, don’t you think?” Forgetting her status as submissive queen for just an instant, Saaj sinks her teeth into the boar’s side and rips out flesh.

Oriq walks up and starts to eat with her. They strip the carcass of all its flesh, leaving only bones, sinew, and bloodstains. Saaj gets most of the meat, but she doesn’t try too; Oriq lets his queen eat her fill. Saaj pretends not to notice the guilt on his face every time he pulls away from the flesh.

As soon as she’s eaten her fill, Saaj slinks toward the thin, scrappy acacias around the muddy oasis, head hung and shoulders stabbing out of her fur. She’s still gaunt. Saaj stays low to the ground, muttering of chills and nausea. “Kada?” A weak, trembling, wheedling word from a mouth that has always spoken so loudly.

“Yes, Saaj?” Oriq lies down and crosses his paws, one over the other, digging sharp brown claws into the sand. Just her switching from shouting, wide-eyed Saaj to this frail, empty husk of a lion is enough to send him into another fit.

“Don’t get flustered so easily, kada—what if some new lion comes in and takes me away because you get so panicked that you can’t defend your precious queen?” She tries to joke, but her voice only strains further. “Listen, I think I need to stay here and sleep, please.” Saaj lays down and puts her head in her paws like she’s crying, like she’s trying to wipe something away.

“Okay,” Oriq says. He hovers over her for a few minutes, watching her, before he runs off toward the east.

The Pride of Bent Trees and Lakadanda Panja are now allied.
Raja and Kimmati find a frozen baby boar that was born prematurely, worth 2 servings. They have to stop hunting early because Kimmati feels sick to her stomach. She must rest until her cubs come or they will not be born healthy.

You can always quote your last post and simply edit the activity. Maybe brush up on the front page a bit?

Oriq catches himself two birds worth 2 servings while hunting, but his journey to the east is uneventful.
Due to straining his eyes in the blizzard, Oriq has developed a fairly bad headache. He can still do things but it will be hard for him to focus for one post.
Saaj is feeling a small bit better after resting, and should be as good as new after one more post.
The Pride of Bent Trees and Lakadanda Panja are now allied.

Impisi woke up to have Nomvula snuggled up to him, obviously going towards him for warmth in the night. The male simply laid there for a few moments, letting his mane rest on her head to keep her face warm. He could feel the white female loving him, actually loving him. Maybe it was the fact she was pregnant with his cubs... But maybe, she actually could love him as he does for her. Nuzzling her forehead, he whispered to her. "I'll go hunt for you." He mumbled, also remembering the scent of lion she found. It was a male, no doubt. That male also stole some of their prey, he had a feeling he wouldn't be there just to join. Sadly leaving the side of the Queen, Impisi made his way out to their hunting grounds.

While Impisi hunts he catches a scrawny hare worth 1 serving. He is relieved to see no more signs of the other lion hunting their prey.
When the king returns home, a less than welcome sight greets his eyes. The male lion his pride has been scenting is already in the camp. He has Nomvula pinned and hasn't noticed Impisis yet, giving the king the choice to either run or stay and fight.

Garmadon a dead boar worth 4 servings laying out in the snow. Something looks off about it but he isn't finding anything else. Will he risk it and take the corpse back?

Kimmati was pleased with the catch they had made together- it should at least keep them going for a while, but she knew with the strain she’d put on herself for it, she shouldn’t be doing anything extra for a while. She knew the pile was enough for now, but at the same time, it was hard hunting at the moment, and it was positively freezing outside. Her stomach still ached from the earlier hunting.
They would not be able to resupply so much next time.
They wouldn’t be able to supply enough until she had given birth, or the seasons changed.
And it was cold outside; Raja was bound to get sick next time he went hunting. If he brought that sickness back to the cubs, that could be disastrous. She wasn’t going to risk her tiny cubs when they came, but they would need food, and if anything happened to Raja, collecting enough would be a struggle.
But what other option did they have? It was starve now or starve next month, and the seasons may have changed by then, or the cubs could be born and Kimmati might be able to go hunting, even if it were risky.
Starving later was better. If they were already starving by the time hunting improved, they wouldn’t have the strength to hunt then. But they’d had enough for this month. If winter clung on, it would be better to guarantee themselves enough food later.
That was foolish thinking, though. If food passed right by camp and she’d not been eating to save food, she wouldn’t even have the strength to catch it, would she? If she didn’t eat food, her cubs would starve inside her and die. If Raja didn’t eat- on purpose- he would weaken, and definitely not be able to bring back enough for them, even when hunting became easier.
That was, if he didn’t weaken from getting sick on his trip to get more food. It was better risking him getting sick than guaranteeing they both starve, however.
Kimmati was just hoping next winter would be easier.

The Dashian Shiik Clawherds

time for some boring stuff yay An owl hooted, and the stars twinkling in the deep blue sky above. The only male of the Dashian Shiik Clawherds awoke to a rumbling belly, and got it into his mind that he should do a spot of hunting before Zizi and Usoka woke. Kumuu looked at his two queens, his eyes lingering on Usoka just a smidgen longer than Zizi. He still couldn't get over that Zizi knew the language, and since she revealed she knew what her name meant, the male had trouble looking at her without feeling guilty. It was wrong of him to do that, he knew. But the name was true. She was an unwanted partner.

Zizi lifted her head from her slumber, as if instinctively knowing that Kumuu was watching her. The pregnant queen stood, padding towards the male, but making sure not to wake Usoka. "Kumuu.. can I talk to you?"

"Of course, what is it?" Kumuu responded, still a bit wary.

Zizi glanced back at Usoka before hurriedly ushering a bewildered Kumuu out of her earshot. Once the sleeping Usoka was out of sight, Zizi fixed her bright blue stare on the male. "I've been given a warning. A.. a warning about a cub, born of the lioness you love." Zizi looked scared, and that frightened Kumuu, causing his hackles to slowly raise.

"Blood of the ruling paw will roar, causing the stars themselves to fall." As Zizi spoke, her voice sped, and her words cut off sharply as if she couldn't continue on. The queen lifted her head into the wind, her pupils shrinking as she listened. "And those kin of Dashian, those who have broken sacred bonds, will fall with them." The queen shuddered, even though it wasn't cold. She flattened her ears, turning away to head back to camp.

"Wait."

Zizi looked back at the king.

"How long have you known of this?"

The queen's eyes looked sad, and she lowered her voice.

"Since I first saw her. I am sorry, mfalme wangu."
