Workshop Three - Day Four ExerciseName of Kalon: Val
Link to Kalon: Boop!Describe their pet/companion: Val's animal companion is a small robin with the classic patch of red on their chest. Personality-wise, unlike other birds, they're very quiet. They hardly ever vocalize anything, and that's probably for the better. If they were more talkative Val would most likely not like them as much, because if there's one thing that Val Hayes is unnecessary noise.
They can often be found hovering around Val as he gardens in his backyard. Though they enjoy staying inside with Val, the robin prefers to stay outside most of the time. Val has no problem with that, though he does have a cage in case they ever decide they do want to come inside. Overall, the robin is company for Val, and Val is company for the robin. Vsl always appreciates their precense while he gardens, it's almost like they're as fascinated with flowers as he was. After much extensive thought, and much creative thinking, Val settled on naming the robin Robin.
How did they meet their pet/companion?:Val first saw the little robin in his garden. He hadn't thought much of it as dozens of birds like tovcome and go, but this one seemed to hang around more than the others, which seemed a bit peculiar. One day while he was in the middle of planting a hydrangea flower, the robin flew up and landed right on his head! Val had no idea what had dropped onto his head so, appropriately, he started freaking out. One thing led to another, and the poor bird ended up getting smacked off Val's head. The sound of a tiny snap was near deafening to Val's ears when he realized just what had been on his head. Without a second thought, completely forgetting about the hydrangea he had thrown in the chaos, Val scooped the little robin off the ground and took it to the nearest vet. The vet was able to set and brace the robin's wing, but because of its injury it would have to stay with Val until it recovered.
The month seemed to crawl by, and the robin seemed to grow impatient, always pacing around the small cage Val had gotten for it to stay in. Once that point was reached he went back to the vet to have the brace taken off. The vet instructed Val to simply set the bird outside to let it fly away and watch to make sure it wouldn't fall in case its wing hadn't healed properly just yet. He did as he was told once he got back home, and felt a small twinge in his heart as he set the bird outside. He had cared for this creature for about a month, now he couldn't imagine waking up without being able to say good morning to the little feathered fiend. He knew that it had to be done though, so he sat the bird down in his garden and waited, and waited, and waited. Val grew worried and assumed the bird was still hurt, but as he stepped closer to pick the robin up it shot into the sky with a flurry of feathers. With one last glance at where the bird once was, and a sigh, Val turned to head back inside.
Just before he was able to pass through the threshold, he felt something land on his head. Val didn't freak out this time and instead smiled. He knew exactly what had landed on his head. He brought his paws up to the robin, but before he could grab it they had flown into his house. When he followed, Val was shocked to see that they had flown right into the open cage he had brought out into the living room to later get rid of. Looked like he wouldn't be needling to anytime soon after all.
