It's rare for a desert-dweller to find herself underwater - unless she's not underwater at all, and the detail in front of her is all an illuminated vision or visitation.
Comment:This piece was a good introduction for my character Pyrite, since the work feels so narrative to me. Another Easter egg (pun intended, since a banner appeared on this page as I was uploading this c; ) is here in this painting in the form of my new watermark!
Even though I was working with this character design for the first time in my concept art, my main focus was to practice balancing darks and lights to get a sharp, cinematic depth. If I'm uploading my art to CS frequently in these next few years, you'll probably notice more than a few attempts to practice dramatic lighting and layered details. So in your eyes, how much in this painting is underwater and how much is only a trick of the light, and a mirage for our character(s?) here? c;
