the she-cat purred, amused that gorseclaw was slightly boasting about her apprentice. "I can't wait to see. when the next border patrol comes back, gather the apprentices. that's when we'll start," she decided, walking over to the fresh-kill pile and grabbing a decent sized mouse. laying down in a nice spot, she ate it, looking around as the clan awoke.

Wolfheart slightly smirked as she listened to Whitepaw, "With age comes wisdom young one." the warrior began speaking as she readied to teach the young apprentice a lesson. "A warrior would have heard the noises if it was from our own den." Sitting down, Wolfheart gazed into Whitepaw's eyes with a cold stare. "There is a reason why we are separated Whitepaw, you are not old enough to be sleeping in the warrior's den nor are you a warrior yet." Wolfheart added as she flicked her left ear from irritation. "I could have you go and pick the ticks out of Mousefang's pelt, but I think that I could do better than that, I'm sure Gorseclaw wouldn't mind." The fae spoke as she glanced over at Gorseclaw and back at Whitepaw.Wolfheart glanced at Smokepaw giving him a slight nod greeting him as she turned her attention back to Whitepaw.

"Alright then," the deputy meowed before the leader headed off to the fresh-kill pile. She gazed around the camp, looking for cats to join her on the patrol. Noticing Wolfheart glancing at her, she decided to ask the warrior. "Good morning, Wolfheart. Would you mind joining me on the border patrol? The two apprentices here could come with us."

The tom tilted his head to the side a bit with confusion, but quickly realized that his friend was wanting him to back him up. The puzzlement that had been on his face could hardly be noticed. "Oh, yeah, that's right. The noise last night. It was a mouse scurrying around - and we caught it," he added the last part a bit pridefully. He hoped he said the right thing and wasn't going to get Whitepaw in trouble. After all, he hadn't heard their whole conversation.

The pretty queen blinked her eyes open slowly, yawning. Her vision cleared and she turned her gaze to her kits. Wolfkit was still sleeping soundly, but Lunakit was awake. "Good morning, little one," she purred softly to her.

The gray rogue woke with a yawn. The sun was just barely up. He quickly got to his paws and stretched before leaving the hollow log that had been his den for the past few nights - he should be moving again anytime now, though. He began to wander around before catching the scent of a hare. The tom crouched, slowly creeping toward the animal, and springing just before it noticed him. The hare hung lifeless from his jaws, and he returned to his den to eat it.

The Tom yawned several times before rising to his feet, he shook out his fur and noticed his sister sitting by the fresh-kill, he didn't question it and cautiously walked out of the den, trying to softly pad out without awaking a single Cat.

Swanheart strutted out of the warrior den with his typical arrogant nature, approaching the sunniest spot he could find within camp and sitting down. There, he began to groom out his long, thick coat, occasionally glancing upward to see if anyone was approaching him.

Thornpaw left the apprentice den, letting out a dissatisfied sniff as he saw all of the cats interacting. He slunk around in the shadows in hope of avoiding interaction, finding a place in the corner of the camp where he decided he would wait until the crowd dissipated.

Moonlight was vigorously grooming Minnowkit's fur, her kit mewling with protest. "If you want to go outside for the first time, you need to look your best!" She scolded the kit, continuing her grooming. "Remember, stick close to me when we're out there. There are scary animals that can swoop you away, we don't want that." She continued to almost lecture little Minnowkit between grooming her pelt.

Minnowkit pouted as her mother groomed her, but at the same time, excitement nipped at her heels. Soon enough, she'd be seeing what the camp looked like, what her clanmates looked like. Maybe a warrior would come over and tell her some kind of exciting story. She did hear her mother talk about dangers, but she pushed that to the back of her mind. She was ready to go out and explore, and wished that her mother would hurry up.

mintpaw, although a tinge of fear scent struck in the air, kept calm and swiped back at dustpaw. "good morning, fuzzbrain!" she let out a purr at him back, giggling. his yawn then caught onto her, "how's training going for you then?" she then caught a glance at whitepaw, who was getting semi-told off by wolfheart. she laughed quietly to herself as she heard him trying to act tough, but then thought: i should give up, he'll never like me anyway.

mintpaw glared at smokepaw, giving him a look of "you dare spill my secret". she smiled and turned back to dustpaw once satisfied that her best friend had kept quiet, and watched him trail after gorseclaw.

the jet-black tom immediately opened his blazing fire-like gaze, being awoken by doeleap. he hissed at the she-cat sharply, not feeling any sympathy for her stammering. he shut his eyes yet again, only to find himself completely awake and not being able to fall back asleep. groaning, he flexed his claws and stood up, "don't wake me up ever again, understand?!" he growled grumpily at doeleap, padding away out the den.

"it's a really sharp pain but i don't know if it's worth taking up pineberry's time," lunakit meowed, knowing that wolfkit had meant it fully. her mother never understood how much her brother annoyed her, although her affection for him was quite strong. "like she's busy enough as it already is, and doesn't she have to travel to the moonpool soon?" [changing colour of lunakit's text as it's too light]

"Ha! See, Wolfheart? We apprentices all heard the noise. Maybe the warriors are just really deep sleepers," Whitepaw said with a triumphant grin. However, his confidence vanished when he sensed someone looking at him. He glanced in the direction of the cat who was looking at him, then did a double take as he realized it was Mintpaw. 'She's looking at me... what should I do?' he thought to himself,
not realizing he was now staring at the medicine cat apprentice. Whitepaw blinked, then turned back to Wolfheart and Smokepaw.

Wolfheart's light blue eyes narrowed down on Smokepaw and Whitepaw, "Not all of us are deep sleepers-" she began speaking until she heard Gorseclaw greeting her good morning. "Good morning Gorseclaw, I will be glad to accompany you on border patrol." She spoke with a calm tone, "I think it would be a great idea if these two came along as well." The far added as she glanced down at the two apprentices, she knew that Whitepaw was hiding something from her but for now that would have to wait for another time.

"Great. Let's get going." The tabby turned and headed for the camp entrance, setting a quick pace. "We're going to check the forest borders today. The last patrol reported a rogue scent nearby."

The black apprentice glanced from Whitepaw, to Mintpaw, and back. The slightest smile found its way to his face somehow. He had thought for a little while now that his best friend Mintpaw liked Whitepaw, but he wasn't going to say anything, of course. If she wanted to talk about it then she would. Smokepaw hurried after Gorseclaw.

"Aw, sweetie, I'm sure he didn't mean to," she replied soothingly. "If you want, we could have Pineberry or Mintpaw take a look at it."

The hare hung lifeless from his jaws, and he returned to his den to eat it.

Whitepaw cast one last nervous look over his shoulder at Mintpaw, then followed the others. "I bet I could take on a rogue," he boasted, feeling a bit more confident now that he wasn't looking at Mintpaw or being scolded. "All I'd have to do is growl and the rogue would be really scared and go away."

Doeleap, having gotten bored of just walking around, wandered back into the warriors' den to try and go back to sleep. On her way to her nest, however, she tripped over Darkcloud and then stepped on his tail as she stumbled to catch her balance. "Er, s-sorry," she stammered, hoping he wouldn't be angry at her for waking him.
