Workshop Two - Day Four Exercise

Kalon Name: Micah
Link to Kalon: XX
If they could write a letter to their past self, what would it say:

Micah, as a child, did not have horns - and nor was he born blind. So here, young Micah, with pupils that shone bright and a soft, yellow head to pat, stumbled into an empty, older section of the ship he was on. For the day, he had touched down on a planet called Fuerois, one with inherent powerful magicks that as a child Micah couldn't help but want to explore. This ship was of Fuerois make - despite being old, it was on a technological level far beyond anything Micah had ever stepped foot on. The Fueron's ships were said to be so powerful that they had the ability to shoot through time itself, both forward, and back.

Scuttling around the room awash with older, more bulky control panels compared to the newer Fueron ships, Micah stopped at a small monitor and began to mess with the keyboard in curiosity, easily navigating the ship's system. While the Fueron were legends for their mold-breaking technology, at the time this ship had been built, their interfaces had not been quite on the level as the functions of the ship themselves. And, while Micah was a child, he was no ordinary child - growing up from planet to planet, ship to ship, he had learned his fair share of how to operate ships - or hack into them.

'Inbox: 1 (20 years) - Open message?' Micah, curious upon seeing the message on the glass screen, was quick to hit enter. The machine suddenly became much more lively, shuddering and groaning, letting off sparks of blue light. Text was quickly scrawled onto the screen, as if it was only just being typed. A icon in the bottom right hand corner indicated the speed of receiving the message. Micah leaned forward on his paws to discern the moving green text.

'I knew you would stop at Fuerois, and in your curiosity, come upon this terminal. When I came upon it, twenty years ago, there was nothing to be found. I was disappointed. But what was I expecting? Nobody sends messages from the future to a terminal on a ship that's been decommissioned for the past fifty years.

Who am I? I think you know that by now. It is possible, after all, if forbidden by law. But we've never really cared much for that, have we?

But you probably don't believe me, and you won't heed my advice either. I know you, but you don't know me - or you won't, for another twenty years. But I do know from what I have learned from the psychologists of Bemarin that what I say to you will be remembered, and when you think back upon it, you will be struck, and you will consider. Maybe this consideration will be enough to change something, and maybe it will not.

Child - your life is not easy, nor is it grand in a way a kalon should wish it to be. Your horns that you may feel begin to come in a year will be your thorny crown. No longer will the world be so bright, and full of flashing icons, countless stars and thousands of colors. Instead, it will a giant black hole to your eyes, and you will grit your teeth and yell, for
why did the world take this away from me and what you are today will become a mask for cruelty and a want for power and gold.

One day, someone will show you the way you went was wrong. They will show you that you only lost from where you thought you gained, and that now, it's time to give it all back to those you stole from. Their kindness is boundless, and it is invaluable - for your sake and theirs, don't push them away.

Find, within yourself, peace in the void. It is like the universe, but a endless space were you live by touch, sound, taste and your imagination. Take those values and build them up until you find there is no need to hold your claws so close. Instead, hold to you the kalons and people you love close. Wear your vicious crown of horns and hold it strong against those who seek to hurt you.

And, the universe is vast, and so surely full of people sure to anger you, ones that still anger me. If you follow the path I took, then your life will be full of countless dangers, people seeking to kill you for what you are. Do not merely stand against them, but listen to what they have to say - in it, you will find your flaws. If you do not follow the path I took, hold wary to the kind of kalons that were me, and that might be you - and stand against them. For surely, the world is full of them, with far too many.

Finally, never, ever forget these last words I impart to you. Hold them close at mind, and close at heart.

    It was never your fault.

N-no- , it was those red eyed, alien bastards who tore you blind ---

And made your heart so dark.

The message abruptly cut off. Young Micah stared, then released their coiled position from looking at the terminal. He looked at the ceiling, for a moment, in all of its swirling blue patterns.

He wondered if he should be afraid - of himself, or monsters.

Or maybe they're just the same thing.

He wondered if the message was true at all.

Workshop Three - Writing Prompt

Kalon Name: Izaari
Link to Kalon: XX
Prompt:
One of Izaari's best friends is Solenne. They met at a craft fair in London, when Izaari was about 27 and had learned English. They hit off fairly well, both having common interests; for Izaari, crafts, and for Solenne, making clothing. Solenne is fairly quiet and reserved, and Izaari is a very soft child n they both naturally get along well in mutual silence and the occasional conversation. Izaari and Solenne decided to open a small shop together to save money and attract a wider variety of customers, with Izaari setting up all of his different crafts from all over Asia and coastal areas alongside Solenne's various designer dresses. They set it up in a way to have exotic appeal and draw many customers in. As Solenne is more reculsive than Izaari, Izaari typically works the cashier as Solenne works in the back room on her own projects, which Iza doesn't mind.

Workshop Three - Day One Exercise
Jinedal

Has your kalon ever met their grandparents? If so, what do they think of them?
He has known his grandparents from his fathers side since he was young - on his mothers side, only his grandma survived. His only grandfather fought in WWII and gave him his motivations for his future career choice. His grandmother on that side is also has some military-esque experience, but more in the realms of camping and woodland survival which Jinedal has always easily taken to. His other grandma is fairly normal, and they spend quiet days when he visits their house with his parents or alone learning how to knit, sew or cook.

What is your kalon's relationship with their parents?
Jinedal's mother never liked his choice of career, fearing for his life and getting into arguments with him over this decision. However, Jinedal is a mature kalon, and she was forced to acknowledge this reality. His father approves of it, having being raised by the man who fought in WWII. Jinedal's father is a much more outdoor person who hunts, but never went into the military himself except the basic draft work. Jinedal spends a good amount of time learning how to shoot from his father and other sort of activities, but other than that does not talk to him all that much. His interactions with his mother are either in mutual presence of each other or the occasional casual talk. Luckily, her mother's disapproval of his career choice does not get in the way of their relationship.

Do they have any siblings? Are they blood related or adopted?
No siblings. Jinedal doesn't mind this, unlike some.

Does your kalon have children? Do they/did they ever want to have kits?
No children. Jinedal has considered it, and thinks he might be a good father perhaps in the future, but he knows he can't commit to that until he's left the military. He doesn't want to burden any of his children with a dead father.

Which family member is your kalon closest to? Why?
Jinedal is likely closest to his grandfather. Unlike his father, who can be a bit too boisterous for Jinedal sometimes, his grandfather is a good balance between catering to his interests involving the military and being a more quiet, reassuring precense. Jinedal has also always loved to hear stories, and his grandfather has countless amounts of them.

Is there a family member your kalon wishes they could know better? Who is it?
Jinedal wishes he could've known his other grandfather sometimes, on his mother's side. He doesn't know much about them, except what he had heard from his grandma: he was a kind man who cared for many things, but died middle-aged to cancer. His grandma never remarried.

Workshop Three - Day Two Exercise
Micah & Radon

Who is your kalon's enemy/least favorite person? How did they come to feel this way about them?
Radon lived on a smaller government starship for his sector of the universe, working on reinforcing and improving the shielding systems for several months after he first left Nucleoris. He was unfamiliar with the technology of the ship, and it took him a month alone to learn what he needed to learn to properly utilize his skills.

Micah, of course, butted into his life the moment he boarded the ship under guise with several other disguised pirate friends who acted as laborers bringing cargo onto the ship at a stopping point. Micah was no normal space pirate: he was smart, and knew not to immediately attack a starship out of the blue. He was blind, which always made it easier to convince even more stringent government officials to let him on board, often figuring him no more a threat than a collection of common laborers. He'd ask for them to lead them to their leader to discuss the shipment, feigning trouble with negativing the ship, and the soldiers would lead them right to the control station.

Now, when Micah boarded Radon's ship, he didn't realize that Radon would see right through him. Radon had been working on the entrance shielding just when Micah had come in with his work men, and was immediately suspicious of him. He could tell a liar when he saw one - even the best of liars. And Micah's gait was to Radon's trained eye, a forced motion, if rather clean and good to fool everyone around him. When Micah left with the soliders, Radon followed. When Micah reached the command station, the soliders left, and Radon could see the way Micah leered towards the commander, just about ready to knock him out dead...

Radon had intercepted Micah at the last moment, pushed him away and slammed down on the alarm. Micah stumbled backwards, disoriented from the sudden screaming noise around him. Moving towards a wall to be able to use his whiskers to guide him, Micah was quick to assess the situtation and run. Radon yelled out to him - Where do you think your going? You thief, you pirate - stand here and fight me, you blind liar!

Micah paid no heed, but in his head was raging. He had not thought that the kalon that had been trailing them had been anyone significant or of any danger. He should've known the prickling of his pelt was that kalon watching him. He was a fool, and he would most certainty not stand for some lowly ship-maid kalon to have foiled his ship takeover plans. Behind him, he heard a yell from the commander: Radon! Don't go after him - let the soldiers take care of it!

No! I'll get that liar myself! He heard a brief struggle then slamming pawsteps coming from behind him. But Micah had a good head start on this Radon. He reached a back exit he from the map he had studied - studied by touch, considering he couldn't see - and was quick to jump out and onto the waiting escape ship. Who do you think you are? Radon yelled after him. The government will get you for sure! You're on the hit list now, liar!

Micah snorted. He'd been on the hit list for years, and no one could catch him yet. Except for this new Radon, maybe... and that made Micah angry. Most everything about this righteous, iritate kalon called Radon. Look here, ship-maid! I'm Micah, King of Space Pirates - and you best remember it next time you threaten me. With that, the ship took off, and any response from Micah was lost to the vacuum of space.

Ever since then, Micah had found ways to repeatedly attack ships that Radon was on. Radon would constantly produce better technology to combat Micah or fight against him himself. Their state as enemy went on for years. Micah sometimes found it strange that he made a bitter enemy of just a common technician rather than some sort of government leader, but he supposed that was how the world worked sometimes.

Workshop Three - Day Three Exercise

Name of Kalon: Jinedal

Link to Kalon: XX

Besides their best friend, who else is your kalon friends with?
Jinedal doesn't really have a best friend - just, for the most part, 'good' friends and acquaintances. One of these 'good' friends would be Bree, who used to a former nurse. One time, Jinedal got injured in a fight - just a bullet graze - and Bree patched him up. During his job in the army, he came across Bree and few number of times and slowly got to know her a little better, chatting occasionally. However, after a while Bree left the nursing corps due to contact with a gang that was now after her, and also with the goal of finding her brothers killer. Bree contacted Jinedal and asked for help, and once Jinedal was off-duty he came to assist in her plans to stop her from getting killed and to help a decent friend.

He's like this with most of his friends, normally. Being in the army means they come across a lot of tough situations.

What qualities does your kalon look for in a friend?
Jinedal tends to find his friends more than he seeks them in their qualities, often helping those who need some sort of steady support. Jinedal tends to like it if they share some sort of interest and or hobby as it prevents things from getting awkward, though.

What qualities does your kalon dislike in a friend?
Jinedal finds it difficult to make friends with anyone too wildly different. As he's not much of a natural friend-maker, he just can't find common ground to stand with those people and become 'friends' with them.

Would they risk their life to save a friend? A stranger?
Jinedal would risk his life to save both a friend and a stranger as a member of the military. However, if it is certain death and he knows there is no benefit to saving the stranger, he may think twice before sacrificing himself.

Is it easy or hard to earn their trust? Why?
It is fairly difficult to earn his trust, considering he is always wary of undercover terrorists and other threats to his country. However, back at home he's a little bit easier to trust, but you still won't gain it until you become friends with him, which is a long process in itself.

Workshop Three - Day Four Exercise

Name of Kalon: Olina
Link to Kalon: XX
Describe their pet/companion:
Their companion is named Dust, a small alien animal just big enough to fit neatly into a set of cupped hands. They are pitch black with several light yellow, almost white spots that is really a few clumps of long yellowish hairs. Their fur makes them shaped like a small ball in general, making them appear much bigger and rounder than they really are. The fur is bristly like a porcupine, and rings on all sides and under, and has large enough gaps between each strand for their actual body to easy shift under the fur. Their real body is small, well muscled and so black that you can't see it, except for their small, stubby legs peeking out below with paws tipped with black claws. They have a short snout set on a plain black face, and white eyes with black sclera and a faint yellowish glow. They have long, razor-sharp white teeth and a long, straw-like black tongue three times as long as their body that they use for sucking out oil and water that they use to survive in space. These aliens use their teeth and claws to make holes in ships and peel back metal plating easily. They are often considered quite aggressive, can move very quickly to escape ship goers and can often wreck havoc on ships. Typically, these small creatures can live for up to eighty years.

Dust is a bit of an oddity among his species, with inverted coloring that makes them a sore, white thumb out in space and thus a poor scavenger compared to the rest of his species. His eyes are black with a dark glow, and his sclera white. Dust, having lived for years exiled from his kind, was never raised among the others and is much more quiet and quaint compared to those of his species. However, he still has some instincts that lead him to occasionally lash out and suck up any oil nearby.

How did they meet their pet/companion?:
Olina had been staring out the ship window as they had cruised by a nearby rock planet when she saw a floating white fluffball. The fluffball came up and stuck to her window, and curious, she opened it and quickly closed as soon as the fluffball got sucked in. The fluffball had quickly began to wander around her room on small white legs, sniffing out every corner sucking up all the water from Olina's water cup. When the little creature got burrowed deep in a crevice between the shelves in her room and came out again, their tiny white form stained with light brown dust, Olina dubbed the creature "Dust".

That night, Olina slept with Dust nestled in the fur between her ears and chin. In the morning, Olina went about the day with Dust nestled in the hair at her head. At first, people thought it was a cute creature she picked up and oohed and awwed at it, but the moment it showed its tongue and teeth people realized it was of the same species as the nefarious ship-eaters! When Leah found out, she was shocked and a little bit afraid for Olina, and Micah was just angry and wanted the buzz of fur off the ship before it broke anything. However, Olina stood by her little friend who she proclaimed to be Dust, insisting that it hadn't done any harm in the time she had met it. After a half-hour of intense debate and a stubborn unwillingness to let Dust go, Micah and Leah finally gave in and let Olina keep Dust, but if Dust broke just about anything, he'd be kicked out.

Olina then happily introduced Dust to Zach, and Dust quickly fell in love with the music of Zach's guitar just as fast as Olina had herself.

Dust went on to act as a silent companion for Olina that was a comfort to her when no kalons could. On some late nights, Olina would talk to Dust even if he couldn't understand her about her fears of one day the ship getting attacked, or anything else that might've upset her on the day. It was a way for her to vent to a comforting presence without fear of getting further judged in the future.

Later on, Dust would prove to be a small protector of Olina by attacking pirates who'd attack their ship by latching his tongue on to them and sinking his metal-crunching teeth in. Ever since then, not many kalons wanted to get on the bad side of Dust, and consequentially, Olina.

Olina liked that just fine. It meant a little more safety for both of them.
