gosh im so excited for my pride?? ive already named my male lion (kumuumfalme, meaning king kumuu) and have a backstory for him <3

for my names, im using either things that describe the lion's actions/patterns, or blood ties (like 'son of king' 'daughter of long whiskers'), and using a swalhi translator!
ex Brown Pads translated = whatever i wrote on my entry form ahaha

they have no sense of self and always work for the community as a whole
of course their leader wasnt born to the tribe, which is why 'kumuu' doesnt translate because it was his birth name, and he doesnt always follow the no-remembering-lost-lions rule.. smh i love the tribe already

he's going to be in love w/the first queen and p much refuse to get more until she forces him because it is tribe law to work for the good of the tribe.


the queen is originally going to be named Lulumi, but when she joins the pride it gets changed to Usokuvutia, meaning "attractive face." Of course, Usoku doesn't know this until Kumuu tells her what he named her, ahaha!

so tempted to name the second queen "mpenzizisizohitajika" because it means unwanted partner ahahahha

i kinda regret not making shadowstar's dislike for aspenheart and magpiewhisker clearer, i even had a plan back where they were still apprentices and shadowstar explains how she doesnt trust them due to their mother and father and subtly calls them both mistakes. which made aspenpaw real mad and challenged skunknose about this and yelled that she thought they werent meant to be born and how she must have considered him and his bro as mistakes too, to which skunknose stares at him in shock before holding him against her and shakily telling him that she could never regret having him and blah blah they have a nice family moment the end |D

Let's see- abandoned plots?

Well there's a couple I was tentatively leaning towards instigating but never did. One was that Dunpond was originally going to be semi-manipulative or some such and would suck up to Sorrelstar to gain power, and she in turn would take him as her mate in a 'so there!' fashion against Sunheart. Obviously though, he ended up in a very different family that suits him much better! Also I had this vague idea of Stormripple being manipulated by Malloweyes due to his weak personality and becoming her puppet deputy and eventually leader. Like my other plot I came up with a much better substitute! (Mainly sticking Sleetfoot in as a rather ineffective, not really trusted deputy of Sorrel's that she put in place because she had no more options, and eventually killing him to institute Sharkfang and then Sharkstar will be a thing)

I guess there are some minor things I wish I could do? Like put more focus on certain character aspects. Mainly focus a bit more on how bad of a deputy Sleetfoot is and how much he knows it- not really organizing anything or leading anyone because he's too self-declared cowardly. (Though he was rather brave in the Tumble-Beech battle and will be again right before he dies). I'd love to have dwelled some more on Burntsoul's flat out mistreatment of Wispwhisper as an apprentice and set up a conflict in which his parents notice and try to get him assigned a different mentor but Sorrelstar doesn't like him or his family to begin with and doesn't look into their protests. Basically just more angst in that department.

i really wanted to write something about the apprentices but i couldn't write anything without hating it, so i decided to write about skunknose and wasptail instead and i dislike it even more then what i originally had. BUUUT i gotta force a post out somehow so lol
