It is early in the morning, and Mr. Grey is on his way from the living room to take his usual morning round in the stable. The clock just passed 0630 a.m, and it is soon feeding time for the horses. He stretches his body, before walking out of the living room and into the quiet stable. The only sound that can be heard is the calm humming of one of the horses, and another one walking around in his box. He walks through the stable, and to the other end where he sneaks out of his cat door. Outside it is dark, white and cold. The sun does not rise before 1000 a.m, and it sets at 0230 p.m. The days are short here in the winter, and the riders are glad the Ranch built an indoor riding hall a couple of years ago. He walks back into the stable to say hello to the horses. It is an important routine, and it also seems the horses are happy to have him around. Sometimes, if it gets too cold inside the living room, he sleeps on their backs, and he always makes sure that all horses feel welcome and are not left out. First out is Raising Hell and Sweet Heavens, who stand opposite to each other nearest the living room. The two horses neigh at him, and he meows back. Then another neigh is heard, further back in the stable. It is Ebony, one of the horses who seem to enjoy his company the most. Gråpus sneaks inside his stall and gets a warm kiss from the roan stallion.

Finally the clock passes 0645 a.m, and the first humans start to arrive at the stable.

Re: Dovre Mountain Ranch ~ Full ~

It couldn't be later than about 7:00, but Christian was already rising from his cozy bed. He sat on the edge, attempting to wrap his much-too-tightly-tucked-in blankets around himself to ward off the cold. Not even his red and black plaid, fleece sweat pants and white, long-sleeve, polar fleece night shirt did any good. Giving up after a few moments, he smacked his lips and fully rose from the covers.

The young man stumbled blindly through the dark to flick on his bedside lamp, and blinked his eyes sleepily upon doing so. Christian only took a moment to cross to his dresser and pull out at random yellow T-shirt and a pair of well-worn jeans, then put them on. With a yawn, he took his scruffy sketch pad in hand and started out his bedroom door towards the living room.

Upon arriving, Christian looked around. No sign of anyone. That was good, he enjoyed time alone. He settled into one of the two plush, comfy couches and opened his sketch pad at last. He groaned. Stupidly, he had forgotten his pencils. Christian frustratedly ran a hand through his messy brown bed-head and leaned back. The pencils would have to wait.

Kyle woke with a start and threw himself out of bed. He immediately regretted it as his warm feet hit the cold floor and threw himself back into his bed. "It was just a bad dream, calm down Kyle.. Calm down." The boy ran his hand across his sweaty forehead and shook his head, looking behind him. Luca was laying on his bed with her head raised to look at him. Her face was tilted and a look of confusion was obvious on her features. Kyle laughed a little as he reached toward the small dog, "Sorry, Luca. Another bad dream." A sudden shiver overtook him and Kyle groaned, "It sure is cold, huh girl?"

So Kyle hopped out of bed once again, this time braving the cold floor so he could throw some newish looking jeans and a blue shirt on. "We gotta go feed Socks. You comin'?' The little dog barked lightly and hopped off the bed, trotting toward the door. "I'll meet you down in a few, Luca. I gotta find my jacket." Kyle opened his bedroom door and Luca bounded out the door and down the stairs. Kyle laughed a little as he opened his closet in hopes of finding his poofy black winter coat. His hopes were satisfied when he found it and threw it over a shoulder.

Once he had the jacket, Kyle walked out of his bedroom and started a slow walk toward the living room. He was humming quietly to himself when he saw Christian lounging on one of the couches, "Hey there. Why aren't you out doin' something? To busy coloring?" Kyle winked and walked toward the refrigerator, pulling it open and grabbing an apple. He looked back at Christian, "You wanna help me feed the horses? I know Socks is probably gettin' anxious by now." He took a large bite into his apple as after he spoke and chewed while waiting for an answer.

Christian opened his eyes at the sound of someone speaking to him. Which was surprising, considering the fact that he didn't remember closing them. He blinked a few times while absorbing what Kyle was saying. That was sort of necessary for formulating a response. "Forgot my pencils in my room," he said in answer to the first question, "But sure, I'll go. Just tell me what to do."

The couch's warmth was quite an obvious loss as Christian stood up, placing his sketch pad on the coffee table. It wasn't like anyone would steal it, after all. He headed towards the fridge in near slow-motion, wanting something for himself before beginning somewhat physical labor, yet feeling groggy after an early wake-up.

After opening it, he stared inside. Nothing seemed to jump out at him. Even with the encouragement of a grumbling stomach. With a sigh, he closed the door again. He could wait a while anyways. "You ready?" he asked Kyle. Which he was pretty sure that he was, considering that he had been the one to invite him out for horse-feeding in the first place.

Kyle watched as Christian looked in the fridge, "You sure you don't want anything? Not even a coat?" He snickered a little, punching his shoulder lightly before throwing his own coat on. As he finished his apple, he tossed the core into one of the trash bins and called to Luca, "Come'on girl, time to go visit Socks." The little dog barked lightly and dashed out the front door as Kyle opened in and into the snow. This action made Kyle laugh a little, "Odd. Usually Luca doesn't enjoy snow much." He turned back to Christian, "Of course I'm ready." And Kyle stepped outside, listening to the light crunch of snow underfoot, "It's nice really. Do you enjoy the snow at all? Oh, my names Kyle by the way." ((In case they don't know each other. Not sure. ;>.>))

Kyle walked through the snow toward the stables, calling to Luca occasionally. The little dog kept up well enough, her little pink collar sending jingling sounds through the stale air. Once they reached the stables, Luca walked in first, her odd paws clicking on the cold ground. Kyle gave Mr. Grey a pat as he walked past then turned to Christian, now walking backwards, toward the feed room, "How many times have you been around horses?"

They entered the feed room and Kyle saw that all the horse buckets were lined up and ready to be filled. He tossed a metal can at Christian and picked another up himself, then indicated to the large trash bins, "Foods in there. Fill your can then fill a bucket. I'll take Sebastian and Socks, you can get Rosey. Might as well be nice and feed Lily's horses for her." Kyle pulled a lid off of a trash bin, revealing the horse feed and dug his tin can into it, filling it to the brim. He began to hum as he filled each bucket with food.

((Hope that's alright. I wasn't really sure if the food would really be stored that way. So I just went off of what I've seen in the stable where my horse was stabled. :3))

Christian followed Kyle out the door, hunching forward slightly in an attempt to ward off the cold. His clothing choices obviously weren't too much of a help. His hearing perked at questions being directed at him, and he lifted his chin slightly to answer, "The snow's fine, I suppose. We don't get it too much where I'm from. I'm Christian."

Warmer air rushed at Christian welcomingly inside the stable. He looked down and moved to the side, noting Luca underfoot as she brushed against his leg in her efforts to enter first. He smiled. He liked dogs pretty fine. He looked up yet again to answer Kyle's second question, this time watching him walk backwards. "I took a couple riding classes when I was little, and have been on some group trails on vacation a couple times. That's about it though."

Christian simply nodded along to instructions once inside the feed room, and watched Kyle for a moment before beginning himself. He scooped a can-full of food carefully out of the same trash-bin full of feed that Kyle had, and hesitantly went to pour it into what he assumed was Rosey's feed bucket.

Re: Dovre Mountain Ranch ~ 1 open slot, re-opening ~

The only light in the room came from the glowing red of the alarm clock, even with the curtains open on the window. Lily had woken up in anxious nerves. For the past month she'd been waking up even earlier than her norm. The reason of course was Rosey. She was due to foal soon, two months, and Lily just kept thinking of the worst scenarios. These outrageous, once in a billion situations kept waking her up at four thirty. She had risen quietly, gotten dressed and started the coffee maker then checked on the pregnant mare. Of course Rose was fine, but she just had to make sure.
About a half an hour later, after doing a complete check up, Lily had gone back inside to get some coffee. She liked the warmth of a covered mug in her hands and accepted the taste of sugared coffee. The guys still weren't up yet when the young woman stepped back out into the bitter cold of five twenty. She had put on a pair of warmer work gloves and another pair of socks. The first time out these days, she wore the bare essentials and when everything was fine, she added extra warmth.
The wind kept playfully trying to strip her scarf away as Lily looked out over the horizon. She had always loved mornings on a horse ranch, even here in the remote Norway they were still nice. She could see farther in front of her, a sure sign the sun was attempting to make an appearance today.
She spent only another moment looking over the grounds before she trudged off for the stable, again. It was too early to bug the horses so the brown haired teen checked once more on Rose then headed for the tack room. The lights flickered on, lighting up the lumps of leather. She walked over to her trunk taking out a jar of saddle conditioner and a bottle of saddle soap. She set them next to a cleaning spot, grabbed a small bowl and headed to the lounge. After filling the bowl with warm water, Lily organized all of her tools for cleaning Rosey's all-purpose tack. She had a schedule for tack cleaning; on the day she wasn't jumping Sebastian, she did his jumping set, his all-purpose on the days she jumped him and Rosey's every couple of days.
Soon she had Rosey's all-purpose saddle de-stirruped and had already cleaned the girth and stirrup leathers. She had the bit soaking in the warm water bowl and was lightly cleaning the unused saddle. Since Rose was so close to giving birth, Lily never rode her but still kept all of her tack in pristine condition.
About an hour later, Lily set the saddle back on the rack and closed the cabinet door. She was done and it was about time to feed her horses. Her cold coffee sat untouched where she had placed it earlier.
Voices called her out of her trance as she turned the corner by the feed room.
"Hey guys. Morning." She said with a smile. She noticed Kyle and Christian working over the feed buckets and saw Rose's red feed bucket and Sebastian's green one. "Oh! Thanks! That's so nice of you." She said happily as she realized they were going to feed her horses too.
