quietly shies away from being asked for advice and instead goes to hide in a tree/ other suitable place @tauriel. @ Enchanted (not sure how to do hearts here)
Sure, but don't expect it to be detailed unless there's already suggestions XD)
@Emberwisp
Every analysis needs a catchphrase... "X would be great at cinema sins" "It's a white guy with acoustic guitar song" "This is Garryx Wormuloid and welcome to Earthling Cinema" etc
@Simonpet
Fairly, yeah. I mean, I think new ends of names are almost always good, but there should be a clear connotation of what it means, and that meaning should be positive, because otherwise the leader's essentially saying it's okay to mock that specific cat that gets the negative name. I'm more open to what first bits are, as long as a cat could reasonably encounter it and associate it with the cat. So coat colour is always acceptable for their prefix, but so, sometimes, is an occurance if it doesn't clash with the colour, and an occurance may influence the choice of suitable names.
Eg, if a grey cat is born shortly after a fire, he might be more likely to be named Ashkit or Smokekit than if he weren't born after a fire, or a black or white kit might also be named either of those because they don't actually clash, and it'd just be mildly unusual. A gingerkit would still be unlikely to be called either of those, but he might be called flamekit or blazekit or firekit when he wouldn't have otherwise. I don't know why all these example kits are male, either.
I don't like named-after-the-eye-colour names, because kits get named before the eye colour settles. I think there should always be room for some slightly abstract names, as long as it's still reasonable that the cats would know what it is. Some people protest against flint- or salt- but I think there would be reasonable instances when cats could encounter them, and it's perfectly reasonable that a clan might have, at some point, had a cat who insisted on naming something, and so they would differentiate on everything. That said, I think some lee-way is always needed, because if you're too strict about it then it's not fun for everyone, and what's the point if it's not enjoyable?
