How does the dominance stuff work? What do the numbers mean?

Dominance is for how dominance or submissive a wolf is. The number 1 is the most Dominant

Alpha's will always be in the single digits. (Specifically a 1 & 2)
Alpha Females (And females in general) rank higher than males. (An Alpha female will be Dominance 1, a male 2)
Even the lowest ranking female is held in a higher regard then the highest ranking male.

The higher the number the more submissive a wolf is. (Say you have 3, 7, 12, 15 & 18 Dominant ranking wolves. The one with 18 will be the lowest ranking wolf and hence be the omega. The one with 3 would be the highest ranking wolf and would be the alpha. Only males can be Omega's)

If a wolf who joins your pack has a lower number than your Alpha they can challenge them and take over alpha position. (Say the Alpha has a 4, and the new wolf has a 2. The new wolf can challenge.)
Usually this is only Dispersal males challenging the Alpha male though. Something about how the pack is very matriarchal. Even if the new wolf wins the fight the female can reject him and chase him out, or ignore him and have him as a beta, choosing a different mate. She can also accept him as a new mate and alpha.
