Workshop One - Writing Prompt

Kalon Name: Major

Prompt: Major's a fairly upbeat kalon, often trying to keep his sights on the brighter and more optimistic side of life. he tends to enjoy the finer things as well, as he thinks that everyone nowadays tends to take things for granted; and he tries to make up for that by really trying to appreciate everything. he also believes he's very self-righteous-- major really loves himself, and he takes pride in his hair and body with only a hint of modesty. on his good days, he tends to live by the motto "if i was you, i'd wanna be me too.", though on his bad days.. well, on his bad days, major just stays in bed under all his blankets in the darkness, listening to music. he doesn't really touch his phone on any other day, but there are those rare occasions when he wants to be physically disconnected from everyone to recharge, and that's when he uses his phone,, half the time to just listen to music.
he tries to be as nice and kind as he can to people though, perhaps to make up for his father's somewhat rude behavior. this allows him to make distant friends fairly easily!

Workshop One - Day One Exercise

the kalon

What is your Kalon’s first, middle, and last name (if they have one)?
major parker pierce

Does your Kalon have a human appearance as well? If so, what do they look like?
yes, it's not hard to imagine at all (i usually headcanon him as human rip)! major has long blue hair that usually comes down on one side of his body in a braid, though he has a small strand down the other side. as a human, he only has one set of ears (though they are fairly pointed). he always wears his hair in a messy braid, not taking it out to shower or sleep;; he only takes it out when lots of strands come out and it's absolutely unruly. he usually wears old-fashioned clothes with shoulder pads, sometimes even suits; and he fits these clothes very well as he has a nicely built body. major has many piercings on both of his ears and lots of golden jewelry adorned around him, sometimes he wears a light silk mask around when thieving.
edit; forgot to add, he also has a fairly strong jawline !

Does you Kalon have any family members? If so, blood related or adopted?
yes!! major has two siblings, both blood related. he also has two parents, but only one that he ever gets to see and talk to. as for family members who aren't related by blood, he has a couple 'brothers' in his mafia unit that are considered family to him. xander, dove, noel, and jaffe.

Who is your Kalon the closest to? Why?
right now, his closest friend is his father, diablo. this is because from a young age, his father somewhat isolated him at home- he taught him all of the villanous things he knew (plus some real things you would actually learn in school!), taught him how to dance to their favorite genre of music (swing) and basically gave him whatever he wanted, because they certainly had the money to do it. major could really be considered spoiled because of all this, but it gave him and his father a very close bond!
he's also quite close to noel, as they have somewhat similar values and often get partnered together for assignments.

What sort of occupation does your Kalon have? Do they enjoy it?
as of right now, major is a thief working under his father, but he's in training to be the mob boss of their organization. the godfather of sorts- it's a long process though, and a very large responsibility. until his father retires though, he's stuck being a thief (which is fine by him, he loves collecting golden jewelry!)

List some of your Kalons likes and dislikes and give an explanation as to why.
likes;
- swing music. probably major's favorite genre of music and thing to dance to in his free time is the swing genre from the 40's, especially cherry poppin daddies. his father raised him off of this music and taught him all he knows, and it's his hobby, really! his interest in music could also come from his other father, quinncy, who definitely had a gift when it came to music.
- the 1940's in general. this is his favortie time period, as he loves the clothing style and music, all the manners people had and.. everything!
- golden jewelry. is it such a crime for a grown man to like shiny jewelry? it just catches his eyes!

dislikes;
- for some strange reason that his 'brothers' can't fathom, major has a strong distaste for pie. he tends to gag and leave the room when it's near, which is honestly an overreaction (and he knows it),, he just strongly dislikes the texture and taste of it.
- when his father gets upset. if you've ever met diablo and seen him on those very rare occasions when he gets mad, you would understand just why major dislikes this so much- it's terrifying!

What is your Kalons biggest weakness and strength?
strengths;
- as stated previously, major's a good dancer (when it comes to swing music). he also tends to dabble in ball dancing, though swing is much more upbeat and more his style
- enthusiasm. major really tries to look on the bright side of situations, often giving off a nice and warm vibe that attracts people. of course, he only has a couple close friends that actually stick with him- and that's by his own choice- but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a hundred acquaintances!
- discipline. when need be, major can step up and be stern when someone gets out of line, which is his father's favorite trait about him. he knows when things are going too far or when something will be too risky, and he tends to stray away from extreme danger.

weaknesses;
- being unfamiliar with modern technology. major's never been one to get obsessed with phones or the internet, he spends his time at home dressing like a gentleman and acting out situations with his friends as if they lived in different time periods. when he's not doing that, he's out and about doing his job and trying to focus, major doesn't have much time or energy for games or phones, nor does he care.
- short attention span. his mind tends to wander when he gets to situations that don't interest him, and sometimes he'll even leave in the middle of a conversation so he doesn't make anything even more awkward than it already is. he has the attention span of a cat, basically.
- selective memory. major doesn't even realize it, but he only remembers things that are important or amusing to him. going on a vacation with friends? sure, he remembers every moment as if it were still happening. taking a math test? that entire section of his day would be snipped out of his memory with fine scissors.

Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:
major couldn't believe it. this was only his first week on the job, and he'd messed up so bad?
he was the son of the godfather, and was taught all he knew from him, making him already very trustworthy and skilled. everyone trusted major to show his leadership on this assignment and lead; he had his whole team with him, too. dove, noel, and jace. the whole thing was probably diablo's fault (major's father) for entrusting him with such a touch job so soon;; major was only 15 after all, how was he supposed to lead an entire team to rob their city's largest bank?
everything had started so smoothly, and major was proud of the progress they were making. all these members would give their life to make sure major was safe and could do this; he was supposed to be the future godfather after all, and he couldn't go to jail. they followed his every command and all wore the right clothes, snuck past guards and security, and had even gotten the amount of money that was needed.. this whole job was crucial in major's development as a thief. now, all his team had left to do was escape and head back to base where they could sort the money out;; the only problem was that major didn't have a clue how, and he was panicking. the bank would be opening in 30 minutes, meaning that all the workers were starting to trickle in now- the started the heist too late, how were they supposed to escape without being noticed now?? major's heart was beating a mile a minute as he was trying to turn to noel for help; noel was always so calm and collected.. he knew what to do.
but he didn't. noel obviously had his head on other matters today, and he didn't know how to do this either.. they'd messed up. all major could think of was using someone as a distraction, giving up all their money and causing someone to go to jail.
jace volunteered. major didn't know how to handle himself as his friend collected all the money in his arms and sneaked into the open area, where people were suddenly yelling and police were being called. so much commotion.. it was overwhelming, and major couldn't think clearly. for the next hour, his black haired friend noel was trying to calm him while customers started coming in and doing their rounds. jace was arrested.. and all their money was gone. everyone ditched their outfits and walked out as if it were nothing.. and through broad daylight, they all returned to base.
major had messed up. his friend had been arrested, no one could think of a way out, and they lost all the money last night.. now security was also higher on that bank. his father was very upset.
this event had been in the back of his mind for years as major resumed his work, eventually getting new team members to replace jace.. the whole ordeal was pretty much forgotten by everyone but him. now major's terrified of messing up. now he hates going on big jobs that could cost someone their life in jail.. now he's so much more vigilant.

Do they keep promises, or break them? Why?
unlike most of his friends, Major wants to try being the most pleasant person be around as he can; he likes keeping promises. this way, more people trust him and he can get even more juicy secrets for himself. after all, there's no real reason why he should break promises!

Are they a leader, follower, or loner? Why?
Major tends to naturally gravitate to being a leader, as he was always taught to be so from a young age and taught leadership skills. everyone seems to follow his command with their lives as well, probably because he goes easy on his friends so they're more obliged to follow him.

If they could change one thing in their past, what would it be and why?
honestly, major enjoys learning from all his mistakes as they really shape him. but there is one part of himself that he hates that seems to have been triggered by previous events, and those events were all times when he messed up in command or killed someone. that's his least favorite thing to do; take someone else's life. so if he could change something, it would probably be when he first killed someone; a complete accident. he hit them in the head gently with a weapon meant to just knock them out, but it seemed to hit a sensitive spot- and just like that, his enemy was dead.
he really wishes he could take that back.

Do they care what others think of them? Why or why not?
when it gets right down to it, he does. and everyone knows; they don't care because he's so nice anyway. major has a small fear of disappointing others, probably because his father hammered the idea that he had to be "perfect" into his head, and if he disappointed anyone- especially his own father, major would be practically disowned.
so yeah, he's a little nervous

Do they tend to argue with others or do they avoid conflict?
in the heat of the moment, major can probably be seen fighting and arguing with people, mostly just bar fights and small quarrels- they're usually short though, and they're always over trivial things. he really just does it for the adrenaline! but for bigger fights that have a lot of people, or things with really big consequences.. he's smart enough to stray away.

Are they more spontaneous, or are they the type that always needs a plan?
Major tends to fall on the side of wanting a plan, he's supposed to be very responsible after all. it's never a good idea to just go headfirst into things, though occasionally, when doing every day activities, he becomes spontaneous and randomly buys a small item, or decides to wear an orange shirt instead of a blue one.

Do they have any quirks, mannerisms, habits, or other defining characteristics?
not particularly- though there are a few, such as how he likes collecting golden jewelry and he has a fairly short attention span. Major isn't all that special when it comes to things like that-- unless you count sneezing in sets of two every time!

Write about them interacting with their favorite thing:
Noel gave the cashier a feigned smile; he was still practicing on that. he found himself in.. germany, a place with a language he didn't exactly know quite yet, hence why he didn't speak much to the workers here. he needed to hide his identity again, the infamous "Leon" had been known quite well in the last country, and he couldn't go by that name anymore. now he would be noel.. he already washed all the dye out of his hair and changed the color of his contacts, now all he needed was a signature item. this was some.. antique clothing store which sold one of a kind items, so he figured this would be a nice place to look. he'd slip on the hoodie as soon as he left the store to start the job immediately.

a purple striped.. cat hoodie. this would work.. and it was quite soft. he carefully slipped both arms through the long sleeves.. and flipped the hoodie up over his wavy black hair. he'd already checked, it was a perfect fit and something that he could wear for at least the next four years while he learns the language and starts on his job.
stripes always looked good on him. he grinned as his fingers poked and propped the stuffing filled ears.. they were so secure. noel could already tell he'd be wearing this for much longer than four years..
what a good price to pay on such an item; something he didn't realize at the time that he'd use for.. the rest of his life.

Workshop Two - Day One Exercise
Kalon Name: Nikolai

Where do they live and what is the geography like?
Nikolai lives in a castle in his own kingdom; he's the ruler of it. I imagine that the terrain is fairly rocky after years of no one tending to crops or grass- everything has died out and it's all rock and dirt now.

What is the society like there, is there a hierarchy?
Basically, there's Nikolai, the king, the people who work alongside him in the castle, then about a hundred civilians, all who have to care for themselves because the king doesn't give orders.

What kind of technology does the world possess: modern, medieval, fantasy, etc.?
Medieval; that's the time period of Nikolai's story. They have very limited.. everything.

Do many or only a few people live here?
About 200 total, and they're dying fast.. so not all that many.

Is the history the same as our world, or is it different? If different, how?
It's different in a few ways, but things are relatively the same. Wars, death, and a monarchy, it's just a few specific details that are different.

Is your Kalon(s) considered lower, middle, or upper class?
Upper class, he's the king after all.

What sort of language(s) is commonly spoken here?
English, possibly a little French.

Workshop Two - Day Two Exercise

Story Behind their Name: actually, the name "noel" isn't the name he was born with. it wasn't his original name- it's actually a name he uses to cover up records of his past that he'd like to keep secret, things that could cause a catastrophe if they got out to his enemies. he actually chose the name Noel (pronounced no-el) in specific because it was a popular name at the time he'd changed it, and no one would suspect a noel- it was about as common as "james" or "henry" might be, though the name's almost unheard of where he's living now.

Story Behind their Name: Theodore was born in a time where everything was much more proper and sincere, not as casual as most of my kalons find themselves to be. a time when people had much better table manners, classical music played, ballroom dances were common, and ladies and gentlemen all sat with their back straight and spoke under umbrellas. this is why his name is so proper; especially because he came from a high-end family. Theodore is his full name, officially, though when relaxing his family tends to call him Theo, which he likes well enough; it's just that he likes the name Kai better, which is what all his friends refer to him as.

How many different places have they lived:
Nikolai's lived in two different houses total in his life, though he doesn't remember the first one. He was randomly chosen from the king and queen (who couldn't conceive) to live with them and become the next king, so he was taken away from his original parents days after birth. As in, he used to live in a peasant's home, but now lives in the castle.

Why did they settle down where they are currently:
As stated previously, he was randomly chosen out of a select few peasants to become the son of the king and queen and the heir of the throne, and with such a large responsibility he wasn't allowed to leave. Both of his "parents" died/were kidnapped in a castle siege, leaving the whole kingdom on his shoulders at a fairly young age, and the guards would, of course, not let him leave.

Is there an ideal place they want to live, or are they already there:
He's lived there all his life, so Nikolai does kind of like his life in the castle, but only when he;s relaxing and not doing any of his stressful work. It would be nice to live a relaxing life on a farm though, like where he was supposed to live out his life.

What are the biggest moments that have defined their life:
- becoming randomly chosen to be the heir of the throne.
- becoming king at a very young age, with lots of responsibility on his shoulders.
- going into hiding and allowing his kingdom to fail and work on its own.
These are the three moments that have shaped him to be who he is so far, the things that have become large parts of his history and affected his personality.

Does their future have a bright or darker outlook, and can they change it:
As I see it right now, Nikolai has a fairly bright future. How he sees it now though, things are very grim and dark, and he hasn't a clue on how to fix that- everyone in his kingdom dislikes him and makes all kinds of rumors about some horrid king, and he's decided to just stay in hiding his whole life. Things will happen though, and he will have a happy ending.

Kalon Name: Noel

Prompt:
Knowledge of Noel's childhood is very limited, as he's wiped everything he could find online and has burned all his birth records, dyed his hair many times, and changed his name twice. As a kid though, he lived a fairly normal life- loving family, a dog or two, he was an only child though. At around the age of 14 though, he ran away from home because he no longer had any interest in his family, and he started learning a lot of inside information about the government from schools, field trips, and government workers. He had such an interest in face that he started working for them once he was of age to get all kinds of juicy bits of information- at the same time, he was working in this mafia-like business under this boss who values this kind of information.
He was found out though, and was forced to leave the country and change his name. His boss took advantage of this and sent Noel on a job in Germany to get money out of rich people- and of course, Noel put his own little twist on it. He's a sociopath, in short, and usually finds his jobs the most fun when he's working with other, unknowing and innocent people. His favorite thing to do has always been befriending people, then tearing them apart emotionally from the inside- becoming their best friend and sneakily obliterating their relationships, he's done this on two different accounts.
That's all there is to know for now though ;)
