Prompt:
Edgar is a very friendly but extremely shy man. He loves his family very much and loves to spend time around them;
or at least the Kalons who are in his immediate family. Most of his time he spends alone writing, but he's fairly happy just doing that. He loves visitors and rambling about his books. Poe suffers from mild depression and struggles some days, but his daughter, Annabelle, helps him through it whenever necessary.

Workshop Two - Writing Prompt


Kalon Name: Cygnet

Prompt:
Cygnet was born with three litter-mates. She had two older brothers and two fathers, Ico and Hiro. Ico never really showed too much interest in the kits and Hiro seemed... haunted in their presence. Cyg was rather sickly upon birth and was fussed over by Hiro.
When she got better he treated her like all the other kits.
As she began to get older, Cygnet would creep off to steal clothes and food from the nearby boardwalk. Most of the shop owners took pity on her and, even if they saw her, allowed Cygnet to get away with it. She was a relatively considerate thief; only taking the older clothing and day old pastries. They'd joke with the tourist and call her a ghost to mess with them, not like she wasn't relatively akin to one.
One day, in her late teen years, her thieving escapades went wrong when a rather wealthy king caught her stealing from him. Cygnet was taken away to work in his castle to make up for it and... well, we'll just have to see where she goes from there, won't we?

Prompt:
Percival's best friend is Perseus. They're childhood friends and when Percival initially came out at transgender to his parents, Percy was the only one who was there for him upon their
rejection of him. Upon first glance, the two genuinely don't appear to be friends. More often than not, they'll say things that others would see as rude but to them is just casual conversation. Percival really cares for Percy and is glad to have him as his friend.

Workshop One - Day One Exercise


What is your Kalon’s first, middle, and last name (if they have one)?
Edgar Kalon Poe
Does your Kalon have a human appearance as well? If so, what do they look like?
He, sadly, does not yet but I'd like to get one for all of my Kalons.
Does you Kalon have any family members? If so, blood related or adopted?
Poe has a rather large family and it would take far to long to list all of them. He's got five wonderful biological children and almost all have kids of their own.
Who is your Kalon the closest too? Why?
Poe is extremely close to his daughter Annabelle! She checks in on him fairly often to make sure he's doing alright and sometimes brings her children to visit as well.
What sort of occupation does your Kalon have? Do they enjoy it?
Poe is an author! Unlike his namesake, his writings cover a whole range of topics from natural disasters to romance novels. He tries to make each one a little unique but recognizably his.
List some of your Kalons likes and dislikes and give an explanation as to why.
Poe is extremely fearful of the dark, for starters. Once you research something enough even you can start to become fearful of it.
He's got a weakness for pop-tarts. They're his favorite snack to get from the store.
Strangely, Poe has a mild fear of cats. He doesn't know what they're plotting with those little brains of theirs and he doesn't want to find out.
Poe loves flowers. He keeps potted flowering plants all around his house and makes sure each one gets an adequate amount of water when needed.
What is your Kalons biggest weakness and strength?
Poe's greatest weakness is that he falls for others very easily. Almost always he ends up with his heart broken because he loves the wrong people and never really recovers from it after a period of time.
His greatest strength is his extensive knowledge with words. He can sweet talk himself in and out of any situation. Poe's gotten out of multiple instances where he owed money but in the end never had to pay.

Workshop One - Day Two Exercise

Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:
"Come on!" Aspen hissed, hands on the still shape in front of him. "I can't lose you! You're the most viable specimen I've found!!"
A big cat lay in front on him. On her flank was a deep wound that was tinged red around the edges. Her breathing was fast and shallow, belly heaving with each breath.
Aspen had been searching for a lynx for months to add to his little "zoo" of the less radiated animals that he could find in the apocalyptic wasteland he called home. He was lucky to find one who was pregnant however she was also injured badly. He'd been working day in and day out for a week to try to save her life and her cubs, but it looked like it was a fruitless endeavor. As he paced, trying to think of something, anything, that he hadn't already, her breathing slowed and, after a minute, stopped altogether.
The man slumped down in his chair, staring blankly at the big cat. The cubs would definitely be too small, too underdeveloped, to survive very long. Exhaustion settled over him like a thick blanket and he passed out.

Workshop One - Day Three Exercise


Kalon Name: Alice

Do they keep promises, or break them? Why?
Alice is more likely to break promises when it's for her own gain, but keep them if it'll cause harm to her or someone she's close to.
Are they a leader, follower, or loner? Why?
Being royalty, Alice is more of a leader than anything. She's very smart with her word choices and can manipulate others into doing her bidding, no matter the cost to the "pawn". Really she had no choice than to lead when her "husband passed away". You play the role you're placed in.
If they could change one thing in their past, what would it be and why?
Alice is relatively pleased with where her life is at the current moment. She's got everything a girl could wish for. The only regret she has is being with a man, when she herself is only attracted to females.
Do they care what others think of them? Why or why not?
Being somewhat of a dictator, Alice has never really cared for what others thought about her. Should someone threaten her in any way, she could easily have them "removed" from her territory. She strikes fear into the hearts of her subjects so many are too scared to even talk poorly of her.
Do they tend to argue with others or do they avoid conflict?
Alice is very good with her word choices, so she doesn't really argue much. She just explains her reasoning in words that'll make her seem smart for doing it and her followers will just go along with it.
Are they more spontaneous, or are they the type that always needs a plan?
Alice constantly needs a plan. She thinks everything through before doing it so she knows the possible backlash, if any, how to deal with it, and how to explain it.
Do they have any quirks, mannerisms, habits, or other defining characteristics?
She's gay. Alice tends to play with her rings whenever she is stressed about how things are going. She'll also pull the petals from flowers when she's annoyed with others but can't quite do anything about it yet.
