Workshop One - Writing Prompt

Prompt: kang is a very simplistic kal. he tends to go with the flow, and keep a calm mind about most situations. he's super caring towards his close friends, and would always do all he can to help them, even if he doesn't necessarily seem enthusiastic about it. (it doesn't mean he doesn't care, though!) kang can also be very protective, especially towards his female friends. he's very gentleman like (despite his appearance), and he keeps his angry-side buried within himself- unless strongly provoked. he typically hides any anger through his rock music, or by making sarcastic comments.

Workshop One - Day One Exercise

What is your Kalon’s first, middle, and last name (if they have one)? kang delacroix (he doesn't have a middle name)

Does your Kalon have a human appearance as well? If so, what do they look like? a french-korean male with a strong build, standing at a height of 5'8. semi-pale complexion, dark eyes that match his also dark, messy hair. long bangs, usually parted at the side but he occasionally straightens them to cover his eyes completely. often is seen with clips or rings weaved into a short braid. has one piercing in his right ear, and three in his left, of which he fills with an array of hoops and studs. kang is normally seen wearing loose-fitting, typically black or purple muscle shirts or graphic tees, ripped jeans, and vans or converse shoes. he carries around a case that holds his precious bass, which he straps to his back.

Does you Kalon have any family members? If so, blood related or adopted? nope! he's a lonely boi ;v;

Who is your Kalon the closest too? Why? he's probably closest to littlelies' ava; they've been friends since they were kids, and he swears to always be there for her (despite the long distance at most times)

What sort of occupation does your Kalon have? Do they enjoy it? cliche  , but he's a rockstar (lol). he plays bass, drums, and sometimes does backup vocals for damian's band

List some of your Kalons likes and dislikes and give an explanation as to why.

likes ;

• his bass: the thing is practically his best friend. he got it for his 10th birthday, meaning he's had it for about 10 years now.
  
• soft or dark colours: he likes things that are soft on his eyes, and especially blacks, greys, and purples are pleasing to his eyes.
  
• rock music: even though the genre doesn't seem calming, it surprisingly keeps him relaxed, and helps him to focus.
dislikes ;

• quiet: he absolutely can't stand when it's quiet. he always has to have some sort of sound, whether it's music, or just white noise such as a fan in the background.
• inactivity: he always has to be doing something. whether it's composing, playing his instruments, working out, or just going for a walk, he needs to be productive.
• shopping: whether it's for food or clothes, he'd rather be doing anything else. he hates the crowded stores filled with annoying customers, and sometimes will wait until his fridge is completely empty to get food.

What is your Kalons biggest weakness and strength? kang's biggest weakness is that he always seems uninterested. if someone asks him for his opinion, or for advice, the way he acts makes them think he doesn't care. but, in reality, he does care. he wants to work on this.

his biggest strength however, would have to be entertaining people. of course, he can easily use his instruments and skills to put on a show for his guests or friends, but he also has a great sense of humor, and can crack one liners or sarcastic comments with ease.

Workshop One - Day Two Exercise

Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:
six had always had disputes with his two brothers, but the fights were much greater when it was between him and majora. six is the oldest of the three, majora the middle child, with kylian being the youngest. of course, ky didn't like seeing his brothers fight, or being a part of the disputes, either, so he often stayed out of it, or tried his best to stop them. the other two were much stronger than the young brother, however. in their late teen years, ky eventually moved to another country for his work, which meant that six and majora were stuck together with no median. the two were ruthless; going at each other's throats on the daily, until eventually, majora up and left him. the younger brother decided to move to france, leaving six alone in america. to be honest, he didn't care at all at first, despite his brother fleeing without even a warning, let alone a simple note. he just woke up one day, and majora was gone, and he left many of his belongings as well. after a while, six started feeling a dreadful emptiness that filled his body in place of both of his brothers. having no one to turn to, he shut himself in from other people, worried that he'll lose anyone else he becomes close to. to this day, he still doesn't know the exact locations of his younger brothers, or how to contact them.

Workshop One - Day Three Exercise

Kalon Name: hisamoto tatsuya

Do they keep promises, or break them? Why? tatsuya always keeps his promises, no matter when they were made, or who he made them with. once in high school, while he was still living in osaka, he made a promise to his friend kenta that when he left for america, he would still contact his old friend as often as possible. of course, to this day he has kept this promise.

Are they a leader, follower, or loner? Why? he is a follower. the boy is very impressionable, especially now that he lives in an environment in which he barely speaks the language. tatsu would probably do just about anything asked of him, and with an eagerness to him while he did it. he sometimes even takes orders from students younger than him, and because of that he's gotten teased a lot by his friends.

If they could change one thing in their past, what would it be a why? if tatsuya could change one thing, it would probably be how hard he studied. he wasn't a slacker of any sort, oh no, but in fact he invested 300% of his time into school. he wanted to be able to get into a good college/university abroad- which of course he did- but maybe instead, he could have spent only 100% of his time on his studies, and actually go out to experience his youth with his friends more.

Do they care what others think of them? Why or why not? he definitely cares what others think of him. tatsu is extremely self conscious, which is probably why he always tries his best to follow the crowd. all this boy really wants is to be liked; i mean, who doesn't? he does what everyone wants him to do- especially his seniors- so that they will like him. sometimes, tatsuya is made fun of due to his lack of english abilities, and though he can't necessarily understand exactly what they are saying, he can tell that they're mocking him by the tone of their voices, as well as body language. he feels bad about this, but the only thing he can do to change it is to work harder!

Do they tend to argue with others or do they avoid conflict? tatsu definitely tries to avoid any and all conflict. you could even say the young boy is afraid of getting into an argument. he avoids this by doing whatever is asked of him, of course, and trying to act the same as those around him. he doesn't hang out with the best group of friends, but luckily for him they aren't all bad.

Are they more spontaneous, or are they the type that always needs a plan? tatsu personally prefers to have a plan, and have everything set up and then executed perfectly. however, his friends are all much more spontaneous, so most of the time he has to just go with the flow, even though the group's recklessness makes him want to tear his own hair out sometimes. although when he's by himself, he has a specific schedule that he tries to stick by as best he can. he especially has his school work load planned out, in order to tackle his classes in a specific manner, and to be as productive as possible.

Do they have any quirks, mannerisms, habits, or other defining characteristics? one quirk of tatsu's is that his lip quivers when he's nervous. he hates that he has this habit, as it makes it very obvious how he's feeling, but he simply can't control it. his friends always laugh at him when they see this. even though he lives in america now, he still keeps to his own culture, by using japanese mannerisms/etiquette. he doesn't often keep the specific etiquette in mind when out with his friends, since again, he might get made fun of.

Write about them interacting with their favorite thing: lee jae grew up in a very loving home. his mother and father loved him and his brothers dearly, but yet lee jae found himself getting into mischief at a young age. his older brother, ren, was known for being a trouble maker. he constantly got in trouble with authorities for doing graffiti or being in restricted areas. going into his teen years, the younger boy began to take after his older sibling. at a young age, he decided he wanted to be just like him.

it wasn't long before lee's mother, sanghyun began to notice that another one of her sons was choosing the wrong path. she, as the worried mother she is, decided to take matters into her own hands, and sent lee jae off to military school. at first, lee didn't care to be there. he only saw it as something he was forced to
do. soon, he met one of his best friends, in-taek, who he began to see as a sort of role model. in-taek wanted nothing more than to serve his country, and lee jae began to feel the same.

eventually, the two soldiers graduated, and were immediately sent off to perform their duties as new soldiers. on the first day on the job, lee jae was given his dog tags, which are now his most prized possession. all they do is state his basic information; name, medical info, date of birth.. the simple stuff. but the flat pieces of metal mean much more to him than that. in fact, he refuses to take them off.

lee jae often takes them between his fingers. he finds comfort in the cool surface of the tags. they dangle off his neck, hanging from a simple ball chain. to him, this item symbolizes change, his growth, and making the right decision. lee jae loves working for his country, and he's very thankful for his mother's choice. but most of all, he's thankful to his friend, in-taek, for teaching him to care more about their work force. every time he touches his dog tags, he smiles and remembers that he would never change a thing.

Workshop Two - Writing Prompt

Kalon Name: kei li

Prompt: kei li was born into a very poor family. in fact, the area in which her family resided was completely poverty-ridden. the family couldnt afford to raise the child, so at just a few weeks old, kei was given up. her parents sold her off to an orphanage to have money to themselves, not thinking about their daughter or her future. the could care less about how she grew up, as they figured this was the best choice for their family in this time of need.

and so, the young kei was raised in an almost prison-like environment. the orphans living at the facility were only ever put to work. cooking, cleaning, the works; their only payment being the promise of adoption one day. of course, for kei li, that day never came. she was too rebellious, and that seemed to scare any potential new parents away from her. when she reached her teen years, she realized that this glorious wish or being adopted would never come true, as clients only tended to go for the younger, brighter kids. kei made a plan to escape the prison she had called "home" all of her life, and she ran away.

as soon as the teen made it out, she realized that she really had no where else to go. she wandered the streets for many days, hungry, and with only a simple sweater to keep her warm during the chilly nights. eventually, kei came across a place. she had heard many stories about this place, and was always told to never set foot there,
for it was filled with crime, and bad people.

the young girl had no where else to turn, so she wandered her way into the wretched community-- if you could even call it one. soon, she learned how to survive in such a place. it required her to steal what she needed to live, but she didnt mind. she was fast. and the threat of starvation or freezing to death made her faster. the city didnt take well to females in the area, so she haphazardly cut off her long hair, leaving it with mismatched lengths on each side. for years, she's lived in this city, and now she knows all of the ropes, and everything she needs to do to stay alive.

Where do they live and what is the geography like? kenta lives in the city osaka, located in japan. the city is situated at the mouth of the yodo river on osaka bay

What is the society like there, is there a hierarchy? the hierarchy is the same as modern society there today

What kind of technology does the world possess: modern, medieval, fantasy, etc.? modern

Do many or only a few people live here? many people live there, as the city is the second largest metropolitan area in japan, and among the largest in the world

Is the history the same as our world, or is it different? If different, how? he lives in the same world as us, so the history is all the same

Is your Kalon(s) considered lower, middle, or upper class? middle class

What sort of language(s) is commonly spoken here? mostly japanese, and especially japanese dialects such as osaka-ben. english is sometimes spoken, but much more rarely

Story Behind their Name: originally, i had planned to make six a female, so i had named him sixtine, which is a french feminine form of the latin name sixtus. after owning him for a bit, i was having troubles connecting, so i decided to change the gender in hopes of having better character ideas for him as a male. because sixtine is a feminine name, i changed his name to sixte, which is just the masculine version of sixtine. i mostly just refer to him as six, however.

meaning of sixtus; latin form of the greek name Ξυστος (xystos) meaning "scraped, polished"

his last name, couture, is that of his father, léo. it means "tailor" in old french

Workshop Two - Day Three Exercise

How many different places have they lived: two different place; america, and now france

Why did they settle down where they are currently: majora was sick of the way he always fought with the people around him in america, especially his older brother, six. he decided the only alternative was to move away, and start a new life.

Is there an ideal place they want to live, or are they already there: ever since majora was a kid, he had always been interested in french culture due to his french background coming from one of his fathers' side. he took up the language at a young age, and had wanted to move there basically his whole life.

What are the biggest moments that have defined their life: his most defining moment was the night before he left. he told his brother off. majora was already in an anxious state due to their younger brother moving away, so once six and himself got into their daily spat, majora threatened to leave forever. of course, six scoffed at him, saying something like, "you'd never." majora stormed out of the house that night. when he was sure six was asleep, he went and collected his things, and headed to the airport. it was a spur of the moment kind of decision, and he had a mini panic attack while he was on the plane, but there was no going back now.

Does their future have a bright or darker outlook, and can they change it: majora's future has a very dark outlook. he can definitely change it for the better, if he wants to. his friend kang, whom he met once he moved to france, is going to help him choose the right path.
