Workshop One - Writing Prompt

Prompt: (write out their personality in any amount of words)
Many call her the "caretaker of the woods" or "the traveler's shelter". She is kind, sharing and loves to help. Her daughter Eleina also helps around and they work together a large majority of the time when weary travelers come by their small hut on the edge of the forest.

Day 1
Workshop One - Day One Exercise

What is your Kalon’s first, middle, and last name (if they have one)? Adira Keve - no middle name
Does your Kalon have a human appearance as well? If so, what do they look like? They do not as of this moment, but if she did have one she would have a simple brown dress that can be exchanged for a blouse and trousers, fair skin and long braided green and blue hair.
Does you Kalon have any family members? If so, blood related or adopted? She has a daughter named Eleina
Who is your Kalon the closest too? Why? Eleina, because they work closely together to manage their small home since.
What sort of occupation does your Kalon have? Do they enjoy it? She manages a small inn within her house for passing travelers who need somewhere to rest for the night. She loves doing this!
List some of your Kalons likes and dislikes and give an explanation as to why.
Likes:
Gardens - Growth is a big thing in her life and she had grown up surrounded by greenhouses. She would make small pots and place plants to nourish.
Nature - Relating to gardens she purposely had her home built on the edge of a forest so she could always be around nature and raise her daughter in it.
Eleina - as her daughter and little helper
Friendliness - She always reflects emotions and when faced with friendliness you can easily get on her good side


Dislikes:
Liars - She has seen plenty of these in her life and many have treated her very badly
Destruction - She loves seeing things grow and becomes very distressed when it suddenly dies or something destroys it.

What is your Kalons biggest weakness and strength?
Weakness:
Trust - Many know her tendency to trust anyone with a joyful face when seeing her shelter. She becomes too trusting when allowing them to rest for the night and her kindness has been taken advantage of quite often.
Strength - Gardening, It is one of her top skills and many would call her a professional.

Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:
It wasn't her fault they said. She disagreed, constantly blaming herself for the death. Voices, individually ringing out in her head, spoke up.
"They were old."
"It was bound to happen eventually."
"Don't blame yourself, you couldn't have stopped it."

But she could have. And she didn't.
The small wooden box that she had once hidden in her closet for the fear of when she would have to use it was in her paws. The top was smeared with dust that tickled her nose and a blurry reflection shone from the uncovered parts. A couple tears fled down her face, falling into her fur. A small feather littered the floor beside her. She looked at the box then at it, her eyes squinting as she tried to keep back more tears. Her forearms reached around the makeshift coffin in a hug.
"I'm so sorry." She whispered.

Do they keep promises, or break them? Why?
She is incredibly trustworthy and never breaks her promises. It sometimes makes her get trapped in situations where she has to give something great of hers so she doesn't break anything.
Are they a leader, follower, or loner? Why?
She is mainly a follower but can be a leader in extreme situations.
If they could change one thing in their past, what would it be and why?
Learning to know to refuse certain rules that go against what their standards are. She was placed in a bad situation that could have harmed her and another but she narrowly escaped the consequence rather than avoiding them in the first place.
Do they care what others think of them? Why or why not?
They do but often put negative ideas of what they think to the side. She enjoys positivity
Do they tend to argue with others or do they avoid conflict?
She tries to be as friendly as possible and avoid conflict. When faced by an argument she freezes up and can't think of what to say in reply
Are they more spontaneous, or are they the type that always needs a plan?
She likes to have a plan and isn't faced by many scenarios that need an improv response.
Do they have any quirks, mannerisms, habits, or other defining characteristics?
None that are decided at this moment. Possible ones: tapping of foot when bored, zoning out, ending sentences with a question pitched tone.

Prompt:

Eleina was born on the edge of the woods to Adira. She never meet her father or any other siblings she may have had. She has been living here for 14 years, helping out with caring for the large garden behind their home and with the travelers that come and need to rest for the night. She occasionally goes with her mother to sell crafts at the market in the far off city.

Where do they live and what is the geography like?
She lives with her mother in a small home/inn on the edge of the woods on the side of a dirt road. High hills rise up in the distance and mountains beyond that. A dirt path weaves through patches of trees and over fields to eventually disappear. A river can be found not far from their house.
What is the society like there, is there a hierarchy?
Yes, but she lives far enough away from society that she doesn't see it often on her occasionally trips to the main city of the kingdom
What kind of technology does the world possess: modern, medieval, fantasy, etc.?
Medieval
Do many or only a few people live here?
She and her mother live alone in their house but occasionally house travelers.
Is the history the same as our world, or is it different? If different, how?
Different, although many similar technologies are developed in the same eras (not same time though). If wars have happened then they have not been informed.
Is your Kalon(s) considered lower, middle, or upper class?
The middle of the middle class, they aren't rich or poor, although they don't spend their money more then twice a year because they are self sustaining.
What sort of language(s) is commonly spoken here?
English could be considered the most, but Eleina did make a small one with her mother that they occasionally speak in when they don't want others to listen in.

Story Behind their Name:
She is named for a close friend of Adira's that she had known as a kit. Adira grew up with this friend until she moved away into the home she and her daughter live in now. Eleina tries asking about this friend but Adira refuses to talk about her, occasionally storming off with an extremely upset expression.

How many different places have they lived:
Only two, the cottage home she lives in and the market in the city she visits with her mother to exchange crafts
Why did they settle down where they are currently:
Her mother has told her that they live there because of the peace and the closeness to nature. She suspects that there might be more behind it then her mother tells her.
She loves her home and when she grows will most likely stay with her mother until she has kits of her own to care for.
What are the biggest moments that have defined their life:
There was a traveler that was in search of shelter that night, his weary feet stumbling down the muddy road. His fur was pressed flat to his body by the hard sheets of rain that were coming down. A single bag was strapped to his back with nothing else in his possession. Eleina sat in the small kitchen fingering a small plant that sat on the main table. Her ears perked up as a stray knock sounded among the crashes of thunder. She looked around for Adira, as her mother normally answered the door. She stood up nervously as Adira didn't appear. Turning to the door, its simple wooden design shaking from the fury of the storm, she reached for the handle with one quivering paw. What would she say? The ragged appearance of the traveler set her further on edge as he almost fell in exhaustion. She nervously spoke up,
  "Hurry, come in!" He nodded, stepping forward. She shoved the door shut, it almost flying back open on her. He stood awkwardly for a few moments before she jumped forward.
"Oh yes, come sit here." She beckoned to the chair she had been in previously. He once again nodded as he sat, let out a sigh of relief as he settled down. She leaned against a wall, watching him. He looked up at her.
"I've heard of you before. I'm very grateful you have this set up or else I would be sleeping outside tonight." He commented.
"Oh, you must be thinking of my mother, she's the one who built this house."
"I must be."
The next hour was just as awkward as she expected as he quickly began to doze off in his seat. By then she had found another chair and was closely watching the door.
"So what is it like living out here?" She jumped as he spoke up. She looked over to see him rubbing his eyes and releasing a large yawn.
"Peaceful, I'm close to nature all the time and get to meet new people, most of the nice." He nodded to show he heard. The wind no longer whistled against the house and the rain had faded to a faint trickle. A thin ray of day break glowed through the window. He glance at it before standing.
"Well I better be off, I can't be later then I already am." She stood as well.
"I wish you safe travels." He grinned at her statement.
"Thank you." He pulled his bag into his hands and pulled out a small object. "Here. For your hospitality for a stranger like me." She held out her hands as the metallic object was placed in it. As she studied it he opened the door and left.
The object had a chain for a necklace and a tree attached on the end. Small emerald pieced were wrapped into its branches. She pulled the door open slightly to watch him go and she whispered quietly,
"Thank you."
Does their future have a bright or darker outlook, and can they change it:
I would think bright and they can change it.

Prompt: (write out their relationship in any amount of words)
She is very close to her chicken, an Americana and red Phoenix mix. She plays with her, watching the chicken dig, take dirt baths and hunt for worms. The chicken loves her back as she is taken well care of, provided well with seeds, flaxseeds, mash, a temperature sensitive water container and a weekly refill of her roost with pine shavings.

Who is your kalon's enemy/least favorite person? How did they come to feel this way about them?

Akillia's not on the bad side of anyone quite yet as she tends to be overly nice and cheerful. Some suspect that she is trying to hide another personality behind her smiling face.

She is friends with Sparrow
What qualities does your kalon look for in a friend?
kind, listener, similar interests
What qualities does your kalon dislike in a friend?
rude, judging, hateful
Would they risk their life to save a friend? A stranger?
They would risk being injured but is not on the level of friendship with anyone quite yet to die for them.
Is it easy or hard to earn their trust? Why?
It is harder although when trust is gained it is true and strong. She hasn't had the safest or friendliest road through life.
