They seems to be based on different types of Japanese food. The first growth was confirmed to be chazuke here, I don't think any of the others have been confirmed yet, but there are some theories going around.

AS far as I can tell, they're all based on tea-related things - especially since the first version of "brown dog" looks like it's got tea leaves sticking out of it, and the second version looks like it might have Matcha?

Agreed, these horses are fantastic. The first adult growth is my favorite. Just love it!

From the Day 5 cocoon if I recall correctly. This one is my favorite out of this month's b-wolves; I love all the little details in the pattern!
