dream olympic rhythmic gymnastics!reese's lean, fuzzy leg trembled as she held it out. her paws grasped the silvery bar, determined expression reflected back at her in the tall mirror. the room was empty as usual- everyone was in school. reese usually sneaks into the studio on schooldays, grabbing her grubby pointe shoes and slipping through the hole into the bathroom. vines hiding the hole were thick, yellow flowers sprouting around the doorway. reese dropped her leg to the white tiling, exhaling with a huff. her hair was shiny with sweat and grimy with dirt as she turned towards the mirror. reese's mouth turned down in a frown. a pink poster of a beautifully groomed viscet stared back at her, the old tape peeling back from the bare mirror. the viscet's dress gleamed in the stage lights, a white shiny grin. a golden medal hung from her neck, and reese envied the cet's talent and stature. she shook off the negative feelings and straightened her back. a mapping of different moves and tactics hung on the back wall in form of a purple poster, and reese padded quietly to the poster. she mentally checked off all the moves she had mastered- just by coming to this studio every weekday. the rope and hoops she used to practice lay in a heap in the corner, the ribbons and sticks littered around. a large, blinking digital clock was suspended above the mirror, and reese almost jumped up when she glanced at the time. it was 3:40pm, the time all the cets got out of school and rushed into the studio. reese stood frozen for a moment, but then ran frantically to the hoops and ribbons. scooping them into her arms, she sprinted towards the closet and shoved them in. slamming the door, she ran towards a small wooden door. a sign labeled 'bathroom' in curly red font hung above it, and reese rushed in, her silver dogtag jingling as she did so. the door chimes rattled as a tall female viscet opened the door, sighing as the door stuck. reese's eyes grew wide as she hurried out through the hole. vines pulled at her legs, but she pushed through and tumbled onto the tall, dewy grass outside. the door clicked open just as Reese scampered off, small paws barely making sound on the wet grass. when she was a suitable distance away, she turned and narrowed her eyes at the studio. she would make it to the olympics. and nothing would stop her.

childhoodreese looked out from her dark, shaded hiding spot. a squirrel darted up a short tree, the green and yellow leaves shaking silently in the nighttime breeze. a stray bird called out to it's mate, the air eerily silent when there was no reply. the dim street lights lit a small bird silhouette, and reese watched with interest as it shuffled its wings and took off towards a forest somewhere across the horizon. her black hair flowed over her eyes as she watched the few cars left on the nearly empty road race by. their bright lights made her shield her eyes, but even the dirty streets and loud cars were something she was used to by now. living outside on the street might really sound bad, but in all honesty- it isn't. it could be better, yeah, but she takes what she can get. reese doesn't exactly live on the streets, as much as lives in an abandoned warehouse. the old place is huge and rundown, the sliding doors rusted shut. windows were the only way in, and inside it's a child's paradise. the huge, empty floor was thrilling to run up and down on, twirling about on nimble, stubby legs. a small cot allowed reese to sleep in (relative) comfort at night. she lay her head on a pile of newpaper and anything soft she could find, including a worn pillow she found on the road. reese slowly clambered up the short ladder hidden on the side of the white warehouse, dark claws digging in as she made her way through the window. it took her almost twice as long it would to get down as it usually would- some nice cet had seen her sitting on the ground and given her a nice smelling bag. the stranger's kind eyes showed sad guilt and pity, but reese scarcely cared. she couldn't remember the last time she had eaten a proper meal, however proper you consider a burger and some fries to be. holding the bag in her mouth made it hard to maneuver upwards towards the window. reese held her breath, her mouth watering from the salty aroma rising from the paper bag. it filled her nose with warm smells, and she busied herself to get up quicker. after she landed quietly, she trod her way over to her 'room' in the close corner of the large building. more doorways and rooms led to other branches of the place, but reese has already explored most of it. she curled up in the little nest she had made of newspaper, feathers, and a stained pillow. her docked tail wagged when she slipped her paw into the bag. reese yipped happily at the sight of a burger, albeit a bit soggy, but just as delicious. a fry sat at the bottom, and the skinny little viscet ate it gleefully. she got up and turned about three times before resettling, ears lowering as she let herself slip into a quiet slumber.
