Here's a few suggestions; I mainly looked at dogs between '11 and '13, since I wasn't sure what species to look for, and didn't know if pets with other colours on them were what you wanted too ^^

I'm fine with any species, blue and orange should just dominate as "portal" colours xD
But The dog from July '11 and July '13 and very nice suggestions! And tbh, the July '11 dog would be a nice challenge.

I replayed the games just recently oml
The first that come to my mind are these, but there's probably tons more and better ones, whoops.

Entire 2015 colour scheme is blue and orange as well.

OMG both ponies ...

The amber pony is from March 2014, the one with the blue markings from February 2012 (but very common). Its bunny counterpart is from Easter 2012, and uncommon.^^
Being from 2012 may make them a bit more tricky to find, but at least the pony should be easy to trade for once you find it.

As for what I think of the chickens...
I think very highly of them :3
