Kyungja is an ambitious kalon, chasing after her dreams and attempting to explain the unexplainable. Quite often, she comes up short
and can't find the answers she's looking for, but when she wins, she wins big; it inspires her to keep going with her job in astronomy and
astrophysics. Kyungja is absolutely obsessed with stars and space, studying galaxies and the universe! She often ponders the universe's
expansion and the existence of dark matter, some very large unknowns in the scientific community today. She often second guesses herself,
afraid of making mistakes due to her many failures in the past; however, she gains the support of her many friends and family due to her
kind soul. Without this support, Kyungja would be completely lost and would have probably never made any of the breakthroughs that she's
worked so hard to achieve!
When she's not working hard, Kyungja often participates in her community by volunteering for her local library. Although she can be
extremely selfish at times - especially when she's focused solely on her job and isn't thinking about others - this is the one time she is
completely selfless and tries to genuinely help out. She loves shelving the books there; it exposes her to a variety of new scientific subjects
that she often becomes curious about! She's made a good number of friends through the library system as well, whether they're staff,
volunteers, or just book lovers in general. Ｓ Ｔ Ｏ Ｒ Ｙ :
Kyungja looked up at the stars, examining each one carefully as she moved the large telescope to focus across the night sky. It was an
honor to be permitted access to one of the largest telescopes in the world; she'd need to make the best of her time during the small
window given to her. As she scanned the night sky, Kyungja was attempting to prove an ambitious theory - one that would change the
entire basis of how we perceived the universe's creation - and every so often, she recorded a few measurements on a notepad sitting
beside her. This data was the most important thing she could collect right now, as she could use that as evidence later on in her lab.
Once her time was up, Kyungja stepped away from the telescope, nodding a disappointed 'thank you' to the workers at the facility. So
far her data hadn't proven a single thing, but she was determined to run tests back in the lab to figure it out, no matter what effort
she'd have to put into it. She wasn't going to fail again...she was certain of it this time.

Kyungja jotted down the data she had collected on a tall whiteboard, examining it all closely to try to find a trend. The media was
beginning to gather with the claims she had made in the scientific community, and her coworkers let them into the room, cameras
catching her work for news outlets. Yet she had no way to prove anything yet, and her claims were empty; right now, she seemed
absolutely crazy to everyone. The media and the public were going to go wild over this...maybe publicity wasn't the best thing right
now. She was very afraid of crashing and burning again, and she became visibly anxious with other people in the room. Eventually the
media left, and she was able to focus once more on the actual work. It had been hours since she had gotten the data, yet there was
nothing to prove any theory yet. Kyungja was growing frustrated; she decided to go home and take a break. There was always tomorrow.
Yet once she was home, she felt something inside of her nagging to keep working. She was so determined to find an answer that she
couldn't just stop, grabbing her own personal telescope and setting it up outside to look at the blurry stars. It wasn't strong enough to
help her recover more measurements, but with her notepad in hand, she was anxious to see if there was an observation she could make.
Something, anything.
However, as the sun began to rise, she threw her notepad on the ground in frustration. All night...she had been up all night looking for
evidence yet hadn't found a thing. Why couldn't she bring herself to stop? She backed away from her telescope, and her theory crumbled
and cracked in despair. Kyungja fell to the ground, laying down and staring longingly into the sky as if she wished the fading stars would
suddenly fall from above to bury her failures. This was impossible work; she was never going to find something worth anything to support
her ideas and theories. Her equipment was too cheap, she didn't have enough time, and her measurements were probably faulty. Every
time she tried to make a breakthrough it had turned out to be wrong. Kyungja let out a long sigh before standing up to pack her
telescope up and put it away. It was all pointless.

Walking up the concrete steps that led to the door of her facility, Kyungja took a deep breath. She was going to have to tell the other
scientists that she was temporarily stopping her research on her theory to take a long, thoughtful break on things. She was just too
stressed, too caught up in her work, and she needed to breathe for a little while.
As she entered, she saw the whiteboard sitting off to one side, pausing for a moment to stare from a slight distance away. The numbers
suddenly looked slightly different to her. Kyungja realized that they had an order, a trend, something she could go off of to understand
how the universe was moving and changing. She had simply been looking at them the wrong way this entire time.
"Wait..." Kyungja murmured softly to herself, tapping her chin before running up to the whiteboard to jot down a few more figures. The
marker dashed across the shiny surface, making a thundering sound as she scrawled out the numbers and finished her math. "I...I have
the answer." She said, barely a whisper. "I have the answer!" Her words echoed in disbelief, much louder the second time as the other
scientists flocked around the board to read what she had written.──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Growing up as a mixed race child, Kyungja wasn't very sure how to fit in. She always felt pressured to choose one half of herself, to identify
with one solid thing to make things easy for other people to understand, but she wasn't just one thing. She was both Korean and Caucasian,
and picking only one race to identify with would have been impossible for her. Yet there always seemed to be a conflict in her head about
who she truly was, a dire battle that never seemed to end about which one would take precedent despite every person she knew not even
thinking nor caring about her race.
Kyungja never really felt comfortable with her family because she looked so...different. With beautiful almond-shaped eyes, a square jaw,
and a long nose that turned up at the end, her parents always used to call her a miniature version of Kim Deanna, one of their favorite
actresses at the time. These looks just confused Kyungja more; who was she and how would she explain herself to others? She was named in
her Asian side's native tongue and had their same family name passed down many generations to her, yet she felt as if her Korean family
treated her differently for not looking how she was supposed to as a proper Asian child. The same happened with her other mother's family -
she felt extremely uncomfortable with her oddly shaped eyes compared to their round ones. Despite how much love both sides offered her
and how many times they reassured her that they loved her no matter what, she simply turned away from them, uncomfortable in her own
skin. She was constantly in denial that they were telling the truth, suspicious of if they actually loved her or not. She began to rarely speak
to anyone that wasn't within her immediate family, because she thought that only her siblings and parents would understand her.
It wasn't long until Kyungja turned to the stars as a distraction. The constellations she saw from her window became an escape; she gazed
at mirrors that showed her the vast universe and the beauties within herself, not mirrors that showed her a confusing outwardly appearance.
Her first telescope made her feel intelligent - she began to memorize the names and locations of any and every star she could see, her eyes
full of pride when she showed them to her parents and presented slideshows about them in class. The quiet, confused, and saddened child
she had been was suddenly bursting with life again, the same way she had been as a young child before she discovered that her appearance
wasn't quite what she thought it was. Her parents were ecstatic to have their happy daughter back, encouraging her love of the stars to
keep the wide smiles on her face...and that love only took off from there.
Before she graduated from college, Kyungja attempted to reconnect with her family. She had finally come to terms with herself and felt
foolish for blocking them all out of her life for so long, although unfortunately she was only able to get in lasting contact with the Korean
side of her family in the end. The other side had moved out of town long ago and hadn't been heard from in a while, and despite seeming
well at first and replying to her messages, the long distance connections fell apart gradually over time. However, with one side of her family
still remaining nearby, Kyungja began to rekindle the friendships and bonds she had once had with them. She was proud of her heritage on
both sides, and both cultures became a dear part of her that she never wanted to let go of.
With her cousins, grandparents, and even a great grandmother by her side, Kyungja graduated college with degrees in astronomy and
astrophysics. She had never been more proud of herself and strove to be even more successful in her career in the future. Star gazing was no
longer just a hobby; when that little girl had first looked through the small lens of her very first telescope, she never realized how important
the sky above would become. The tiny stars, the vast universe...it all had become her life.──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

haeku is the closest friend kyungja has; these two are practically inseparable.
Growing up, Kyungja never realized that Haeku was half Korean as well due to her looks having
a striking Asian resemblance. All she ever noticed about her was her stunning beauty, figuring
she was the prized jewel of the family and would probably act just as popular and stuck up!
However, now that Kyungja is older and gotten to know that side of her family, she has realized
that she is just as beautiful inside as out, taking pride in knowing such a lovely young woman
who understands her mental struggle of being from multiple cultures and races. They have been
like two peas in a pod ever since, and have done almost everything together! Their favorite thing
to do is to go out for dinner every Friday, with Haeku's son and mother tagging along, too.text

kyungja enjoys learning about her korean family's culture from chaewon.
Since Chaewon grew up in South Korea, she often tells Kyungja stories of what life was like there many years ago while she knits clothes for Haeku's son. Kyungja enjoys listening to the elderly woman's wise stories, prizing her family's culture and wanting to learn as much about it as possible while Chaewon is still around to give Kyungja her perspective. Every time she sits down with Chaewon, there always seems to be a new, exciting story to hear, and Kyungja enjoys hearing them. She's never quite sure if Chaewon is exaggerating or if they're really so intense, but the oral history is fascinating nonetheless! Someday Kyungja wishes to visit South Korea herself, particularly the hills around Tongyeong where Chaewon grew up in a small fishing village. ｈａｗｋｅ : ｔｈｅ ｃｏｕｓｉｎ＇ｓ ｓｏｎ
when kyungja looks into hawke's eyes, she sees a version of herself.
Kyungja absolutely adores Hawke, helping to babysit after the young boy while is mother and
grandmother are out shopping. She can't help but laugh at how curious the little one seems about
the world around him, reminding Kyungja of herself when she was a child attempting to find her
niche in life. The two always seem to see each other when they're going to do something fun, so
Hawke has grown accustomed to knowing that games and adventures are around the corner
whenever she arrives; however, recently Hawke has stayed within his room after she arrives which
is a bit...odd. She's sure that something is up, whether it be something at school reflecting his poor
grades or at home with his sudden appreciation of video games. Despite this, Kyungja always
encourages him to come play with her, and so far he'll eventually come out to see what she wants.──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
