Demi was born into a loving family, and one that did just about everything together. Even though they weren't the wealthiest family, her parents did what they could to get her what she needed. And on some occasions, they got her something she wanted. She really didn't have to want for much, and she really didn't ask for much. As she got older, she began to do more for her parents, helping them with what she could or what they'd allow her to do. It was during that time she could feel a change in herself, and would notice ice forming near her. At first she just thought it was a weird thing, but as it happened more, she noticed she was doing it. She became scared and caused the ice to accumulate more. It didn't take her long to figure out she needed to control her emotions, and ended up hiding the ability from her parents. Though told them when the power became stronger. Even though her parents were scared/worried about this power, they did what the could to help her control it as the years went by. They even bought her a white dog to see if the companionship would help her, Demi named him Olaf, and he did see to help her. With Olaf, she would practice using her power and soon learned to mostly control it until her emotions were involved.

When she was thirteen, Demi lost her parents to a terrible accident. No one told her what really happened. All she remembers is being in the backseat of the car with Olaf, enjoying singing along with the radio with her parents, then everything going dark before waking up in a hospital bed. She was told by nurses, that the accident was so traumatic it caused her mind to block it out. After getting the okay to leave, she was released to some friends of the family. They treated her horribly, turning her into nothing but a maid to put it bluntly, and something to take their frustrations out on. Now, two years after her parents death, they still treat her as such. Her only way out, is going to school, which they tried to keep her from going to, since it's too far away from them to control her.

Due to his somewhat hostile and childish nature, he wasn't exactly the most agreeable person, and often argued with her. Around the age of nine, his father died in an accident, leaving him orphaned and alone. Because he was too young to control his father's company or his massive fortune, the company was given to the chairman, who Tsuyoshi greatly disliked. In fact, it was that dislike that led the man to curse him, turning him into a "beast". Since then, he has moved to the city, and became friends with Aiko.
