The wind drifted through the curtains into the young kit's bedroom. He quickly sat up,almost bumping his head on the top bunk his sibling shared with him. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and waltzed over to the window. Another beautiful day. The cars honked in the distance and he could barely see the sun from the windowsill.
"Skylar Ryan!" He turned his head to the sound of his father, Simon Mir's,voice. Skylar bounded out of the room nearly tripping over his older sister Eden. "Sorry Sis", He called, making his way into the kitchen. Simon was at the stove, already preparing breakfast for his six children. Skylar noticed his Eldest brother at the table already set for the day. Skylar took a seat next to Marco, making sure everything was right with the setting of the table. Before long the other family members trickled into the kitchen, all sitting at the circular table. Simon placed breakfast, bagels, assorted pastries, pancakes, and milk, on the table. Before Simon sat down he leaned over to give his partner Mavi a kiss on the head. Marco whined covering his eyes while Skylar's twin siblings cried out in protest. Only Eden and Skylar kept their eyes wide open at their parents display of perfect affection. "Calm down. We have a busy day ahead of us." Mavi looked at his family. "Your Father has to leave in a few minutes. Running your own fashion line isn't easy kiddos." Simon nodded, stuffing a croissant into his mouth. Skylar had always admired Simon. His father had gone through so much to make this fashion line. Between struggling with ideas and balancing family duties it was hard. As for Mavi, Skylar's mother-figure, he liked to stargaze. Mavi would spend hours upon hours on the roof of the house looking at the stars. Occasionally Skylar would join him, listening as Mavi showed him the different constellations and how to navigate the stars. The family finished their food quickly. Everyone dashed to their rooms getting ready for what the day would throw at them. The hours passed along. Mavi hustled around the house,Simon left for work, and Eden holed herself up in her room to work on her new storyboard idea. Skylar decided to take another look out that great big window at all the modern day had to offer. The sun was rising still, height and bright above the busy streets. He could barely make out the shape of the coffee shop that his parents always took them to in the distance. Skylar closed his eyes, letting the sunlight warm his fur. It seemed like almost no time had passed by when Simon came home from work. Simon walked into the living room and embraced Mavi. "How about we take the kids to the coffee shop?" Mavi nodded, scampering to round everyone up. Everyone swiftly gathered around the door with Simon in the lead. As they walked from their house, Skylar repeated the different types of clouds in the sky. "Cirrus, Slight Cumulonimbus on the horizon, and some scattered Altocumulus.", Skylar murmured. As they approached the coffee house Simon started taking orders. A dark coffee for himself, A peach iced tea for Mavi, A Iced coffee for Marco, Smoothies for the younger kids, and a quick swing by the local mart for a soda pop for Eden. As Skylar sipped his smoothie quietly at the table he looked out the window. He watched as the sun dipped lower behind the buildings as a chilly breeze blew through the curtains of the booth. Togetherness.
