Tumbleclan
All will fall in it's place
The cats of Tumbleclan were milling around camp, waiting, waiting, waiting for the foretold attack. The previous gatherings had spoken of tense times and the upcoming war. It was the same everyday, Tumbleclan would go through a day, awaiting a terrible attack. ''How did we get in this mess?'' inquired Addercloud to her mate. ''It was never like this before!'' the tabby complained, lashing her tail. Badgertail licked her ear comfortingly, even the cocky warrior knew the danger and knew all too well that his children could lose their lives in this terrible scuffle. But Badgertail was prepared to fight, he'd spent much of his spare time training and building his strength via rock scrambling. His claws were sharp and the black and white tom was eager. Not to spill blood but to be a hero! ''A foolish leader, Addercloud...but we can do this!'' he replied, green eyes shining determinedly. ''Smokefur, Burrwhisker and Dustclaw are fully trained...and I'll make sure they don't get hurt.'' Badgertail promised, with a nod of his head. He would, he would try!
Burrwhisker was waiting with baited breath, Smokefur pacing to and fro impatiently and Dustclaw sitting up right, alert and focused. ''Smokefur, you'll tire yourself out, stop it.'' muttered Dustclaw, curling her tail around her paws. For such a sharp-tongued cat, Dustclaw was quite the composed one. You could not tell that her heart was hammering against her chest like a caged bird by looking at her. Smokefur ignored her younger sister, she was far too concerned about the upcoming battle to sit daintly on her behind. She needed to be ready to jump into action at a moment's notice! ''Sis...she's right.'' mumbled Burrwhisker distractedly. His good friend, Sedgetail, was to be in the battle and the warrior was dreading that moment, the moment where he'd lay claws on her fellow comrades and there was nothing to be done about it. ''Burrwhisker, silence...you have no right to say anything.'' hissed the grey cat under her breath. She knew of his talks with Sedgetail the Caveclanner and she was not pleased about it. Smokefur opened her mouth to say something much more scathing when Dustclaw interrupted. ''Don't be rude, Sister.'' This comment left Smokefur bristling in anger and far more agitated than usual.
''Do you know when they'll come?'' Blacknose asked, recalling Soulclan's offer in helping Tumbleclan. ''They'll come when they'll come.'' came a curt response. Squirreltail was less than interested in her spindly comrade's worries and was fretting fiercely over Tumbleclan's only nursing queen. Loonheart was currently taking care of three kittens, plus the one snatched from a weeping queen in Witherclan for reasons unknown, they'd be terribly vulnerable. ''You're thinking about her, aren't you?'' murmured Blacknose, her brilliant eyes shining like emeralds. Squirreltail gave no reply, merely padding over to the nursery. ''Loonheart, will you be safe?'' inquired the ginger warrior, watching the kittens tussle in the darkness of the den. ''Of course I will!'' Loonheart exclaimed, smiling up at Squirreltail, a smile so beautiful it hurt. ''Harefoot will protect me, Squirreltail.'' Through gritted teeth, Squirreltail forced a civil response. ''Of course he will...of course.'' She didn't believe that, she believed that the dusty brown tom would faint at the first sight of blood. ''Of course, I will darling!'' cooed Harefoot, padding up to the two. Squirreltail deemed him far too positive for such a serious battle. She didn't trust that spineless creature, not one bit!
Sagestar was perched on the high rock, watching his clan anxiously below. Palepaw was sitting at the entrance of the apprentices den, joined by a very worried Volepaw, Eagleclaw was crouched near the prey pile, eyes unfocused on anything but the Earth at her paws. Mudwhisker was murmuring under his breath, no doubt praying to Starclan for luck and his son was sitting beside his mother, not to comfort one another, but to watch the entrance like hawks. Two pairs of eyes were better than one after all. Sagestar had ordered Russetleaf to take refuge in the elder's den with Stonestorm and Brightwhisker. The two elders were unlikely to be involved in the war, so the red cat was safer in the tussocky tangle of the elder's den. ''Starclan, have mercy on us.'' muttered the grey leader, his voice snatched from his mouth by the howling wind. The tension was so thick, that he could scarecly breathe. ''Please...'' he muttered.
''Don't let us all die because of my mistakes.''
