"Barkknot murdered Aspenleaf?" Sorrelstar's mew rose an octave as all the fur on her pelt stood on end. No! Her kit would never do something like that! No matter what Barkknot thought herself capable of, Sorrelstar believed what she had always told her kit- that she would never follow through and hurt anycat. Sunheart cried out in protest from the base of the rock but Claywhistle held him down, the younger warrior's eyes round and disbelieving. "Barkknot she- she's emotionally unstable but she would never-" Sorrelstar's mew came out halting as she realized the exact predicament she had been placed in. If she protested her kit's innocence it would she her own accusation of Russetleaf in doubt. She couldn't do that. "Do you- do you have evidence against her?"

"Closed spaces and crowds. Not lot of faith in herself that one- perfect pawn really." Malloweyes glanced back at the leaders rock, where Sorrelstar's and Jaystar's argument had escalated. Perfect scapegoat too. But the elder didn't think that course of events needed much more directing so she turned back to Swanfoot for the latest gossip. Sharkfang was more focused on Thistlethron however. "You get a lot of time to execute your skills? Mallow says we have to bide out time," he pouted, "So difficult to reign the impulses in."

"Yes, thank you," Emberstar meowed. She decided it would be best not to say anything about Shadekit or her mother. She didn't want to think about it and didn't know if she would even mention it in her announcement.

As Ashenclaw padded towards where the deputies were gathered, he glanced around, trying to find Sheepclaw. AsterClan didn't make an appearance at the last Gathering, and he could only hope they would be here this time.

At Brindlecloud's growl, Appleheart turned and followed her gaze to a brown tabby. "Um," he mewed uncertaintly, "who's that? What's going on?"

A small smile appeared on Willowcloud's face as she watched Appleheart hurry over to greet his friend. Hopefully she could make a friend or two this time. "Hello," she mewed to the others.

Breezepaw let out a loud, exasperated sigh, "Well, if you're not going to talk to anyone, then I will. See you." Her ears turned back with frustration, the apprentice quickly padded away from her mother and brother. Frigidrose narrowed her eyes. "Come on, Cinderpaw. Let her be," she growled, stalking off in the opposite direction from her daughter.

Breezepaw, huffing, wanted to get as far away from her mother as she could manage. There she was, wanting to be all 'evil' and everything and she couldn't simply approach anyone. Didn't Frigidrose know that you can't tell if a cat has the same despicable, murderous thoughts as you do by just looking at them? The apprentice tried to calm herself, clear her mind. Maybe she would make a friend here and have a better time than she would by following her mother around and doing basically nothing.

"Frostpath," she meowed. She hesitated for a moment. Was it alright for her to leave now? Did she seem rude? Before she knew it, another question had made it past her lips, "What's AspenClan like?" She mentally cursed herself. What in StarClan's name am I doing? I need to go!

Stormbreeze's eyes narrowed just the slightest as he noticed Cherryclaw's smile faltering and her uncertainty with answering his question. He decided to not ask further, however, which was probably for the best if she didn't want to talk about it."LeafClan's doing pretty okay. I think things are starting to calm down with Frigidrose - the mother of the kit we lost a couple moons ago."

Briardusk tilted her head a bit at his stuttering, but she didn't ask about it. "So, is LotusClan doing well?"

Because of the impending Tumbleclan vs Beechclan war, Morningstar had decided to bring only a few cats to the gathering. A wave of his tail beckoned the little group of cats to his side. "Come on." He murmured, wondering just how chaotic this gathering would be.
Arriving at the gathering clearing, Morningstar looked over at the leaders as he approached. After greeting them with a polite hello, Morningstar stepped back into his usual spot, ears pricked to their conversations.
A black and white she-cat caught his eye and the orange tabby's gaze focused on her. "I'm Morningstar of Caveclan." He introduced himself.

Woolyfur with deputies

Woolyfur too did little more than crouch in his usual spot with the deputies. With all the wars going on, he believed that Caveclan's policy of distancing themselves from the other clans was a good one. They had a few allies but rarely got involved with wars.

Cloudpool + Dappleleaf with medicine cats

Dappleleaf had decided to stick with Cloudpool as the rest of her clan already wondered if she was becoming medicine cat. Lilystem had asked her why she spent so much time gathering herbs with Cloudpool and Dappleleaf had told her she liked the work. Cloudpool murmured a soft hello to the other medicine cats and introduced Dappleleaf. "Hello," She murmured. The pair crouched quietly together, pelts not quite brushing but still very close.

"I know," Sedgetail murmured. "If Harespring attacks you, he won't hold himself back. It's self-defense." She didn't want either of them to get hurt, but during battle that was impossible. They'd have no choice but to attack.

The ranked cats of Blazeclan said their goodbyes to Stormshadow as they left. During her wanderings Poppythorn had heard of a gathering of clans to happen less than a days walk from Blazeclan territory. It hadn't taken a lot to convince Soaringstar that they should go. So here they were, following Soaringstar into the gathering clearing. Falconswoop had never seen half so many cats in his lifetime, let alone it one place. He followed closely behind Soaringstar and Poppythorn as they chatted. He simply could not understand how they seemed so comfortable in this place. So many voices, so many new scents... he was starting to feel claustrophobic. At first the three weren't sure where to go, so they clustered together in the crowd. Poppythorn, on her part spent her time eavesdropping. At some point she had decided that she had found out where the medicine cats were gathered and excused herself to join them. Soaringstar too shortly discovered the stone where the leaders were gathered. Falconswoop went to follow him, but eventually got stuck at the base of it, glowering and alone. Left to fend for himself in this army of strangers.

"Oh yes. I'm very new." Poppythorn replied to the brown tabby. "It's my clan's first time. I don't know anybody yet." She was still cheerful. Neither new cats, nor the quantity of them ever bothered her.

Soaringstar did notice Foxstar's self-correction, but pretended not to. It seemed like a sensitive topic and he didn't want to start their relationship off on an awkward note. "Mapleclan. How far is that from here? My territory is nearly a days walk." He too could hear the escalating argument not far from them, but tried to ignore it and keep Foxstar busy on other things. Try to keep him calm, since he seemed to already be on edge.

"Do I have evidence?" Jaystar asked as if to mock the leader, Thrushclaw could see his Jaystar slipping away with every passing heartbeat. Mudstone had broken her, and now Aspenleaf... this wouldn't end well and he knew it. "The evidence is not needed when you vile child walked into my camp covered in blood, carrying my dear friend as if she had just come from a hunting patrol then practically bragged her death to the entirety of Soulclan. And two of my finest warriors even witnessed her in the act." Jaystar mewed, a few cats from Soulclan who had heard yowling in agreement and anger. "She even mentioned being sent there from Beechclan. You were offended when I accused you of falsely accusing Russetleaf for the death of your medicine cat. And out of sick sense of spite, you go after mine!"

Hearthflame wanted to purr and agree that seeing Weaselstorm had been the highlight of his life at this tragic moment. But he couldn't, not when Shadepaw sounded so sad. And though he wasn't as close with the little molly, he felt an odd since of affection for her, a bit of family that he wanted to protect. "Is something wrong Shadepaw? You don't sound as adorably joyful as I'm use to." He said with a kind smile, hoping to make her smile in the process.

Wasn't in the mood to converse. He was still mentally grieving over the loss of the molly who was like a sister to him. Aspenleaf didn't deserve to die. Beechclan needed understand that would not get away with such heinous crime. But the gray tom still allowed a smile to cross his maw as he moved about the gathering, not wanting to be frowned upon by Starclan.

Thistlethorn shrugged and twisted her tail. "On the contrary, we're actually pretty patient mollies. I actually got lucky moons ago and got to, as you say, execute my skills. I must admit, red isn't my color but oh how I love it so." She purred, looking to her paws where the the blood had blended into her fur so well.

Mistlepaw didn't get why her mother brought her back here? She had no reason to be here and be forced to interact with others. It made no since and Mistlepaw had half the mind to turn tail and leave, but as the thought came, she thought of how Mudpaw would tease her for being a soft molly for wanting to leave. It made her chest hurt, but it also kept rooted to her spot, sitting with her tail wrapped around her paws. And her head was down, gazing at Mudpaw's blue ribbon now tied to her tail so she never lost hpit. Never lost him.

foxstar tried to focus on the conversation and not on the angry leader beside him. "mapleclan is actually not that far. did you see the maple tree forest while coming here? that's part of our territory. so only a quarter day's walk." the tom looked down at all the cats who were gathered around the great rock. it wasn't that bad once on the boulder.

"You think I would send my own daughter after your medicine cat because you wouldn't fight with me? Do you see me sending Claywhistle after Lotusclan or Asptail after Witherclan?" Sorrelstar was on her feet and pacing around the ledge, her tail lashing every which way. Her kit couldn't have killed anycat! There was no way! But Jaystar was absolutely convinced. As convinced as I am of Russetleaf's kill. She couldn't help but wonder- did Russetleaf have a mother who would never believe her daughter capable of murder? Didn't every murderer have a mother? Sorrelstar hung her head, thoughts echoing through her skull. Then she blinked her eyes open and whirled back around to face Jaystar. "I deny sending Barkknot after your medicine cat- I am not monster. But if you have such evidence against her, and a confession, then I cannot deny her responsibility." Sunheart gasped and struggled out from under Claywhistle's grasp. "No! Sorrelstar you have to get her back, you can't believe this! Beechclan can fight!" Sorrelstar didn't meet her former mate's gaze. "I have to believe it. And since when did you care for her well being?" "She's my kit too!" "No!" The Beechclan leader faced the tom down with unhinged fierceness. "No! She was never your kit- she was only ever mine. And now-" her mew nearly broke, "Now I denounce her as a murderer. Jaystar if what you say is true, Barkknot is no longer my daughter."

amberstar shifted her paws uncomfortably, hearing the two leaders behind her quarrel. she hoped wishclan would never have a relationship like that with any clan; enemy or not. "good. and is prey doing well for you?" she meowed, feeling tension rise in the air.


bumbletail was shocked at how confident and friendly this molly was. "aren't you nervous?" he meowed, a confused look on his face.

Robinstar's ears pricked with interest as Mintstar responded to her question. The patched she-cat sat up straighter, listening carefully. "Yes, that's all very sad and all, but not what I wanted to know," she mewed, completely disregarding the emotions of the PineClan leader. "Do you know who did it?" the AspenClan leader asked, leaning forward slightly in anticipation.

Tanglestep padded confidently into the clearing by Robinstar's side. He couldn't help but be filled with happiness and pride now that Brambletooth was exiled. The look on Birdpaw's face when she watched him leave was just priceless! Sparkfur seemed convinced that the new deputy was innocent, but his sister and mother could be difficult. Tanglestep made a mental note to care care of them later, but for now, he had to find Barkknot. After her sudden disappearance at their last meeting, he had been aching to see her again.

Sootpelt slowly weaved through the crowd, sorrow and concern tainting his expression. He still wasn't used to attending Gatherings without Speckledpaw. The death of the cheerful apprentice had left a gaping hole in his daily life. With Rippleberry gone as well, Sootpelt had been in a state of desolation for moons. At least he had his kits. Sootpelt shook his head briskly in an attempt to clear it and approached the other medicine cats. "Hello," he mewed. "In case you don't already know me, my name is Sootpelt. I'm AspenClan's medicine cat."

Cherryclaw noticed the subtle narrowing of Stormbreeze's eyes, and felt a rush of relief when he didn't pester her about the topic. "Well, I'm glad things are getting better in LeafClan," she mewed with a small smile. The russet warrior curled her tail around her paws, glancing up at the cluster of leaders. Her eyes narrowed slightly at the heated argument between Jaystar and Sorrelstar. "I wonder when they'll start the announcements," she wondered out loud.

Rabbitheart tilted his head slightly to one side. "Oh, I don't know..." he mewed. "What about AspenClan? I mean, the territory's nice, I guess... There's a forest. And a lake. And rivers." Great StarClan, I sound like a babbling apprentice. "How about... LeafClan, is it?" the young tabby asked, trying to direct the conversation away from himself.

Sparkfur meandered through the crowd with his head held high. It was his first Gathering as a warrior, and he was full of pride. He couldn't help but feel a bit glad that his sister wouldn't be attending. She would've spend the whole time trying to defend a murderer. It didn't matter that he was their father — Brambletooth didn't deserve a spot in the Clan. Just thinking about the situation in AspenClan made the young warrior's tail lash in fury. He stared at his paws, not even seeing the younger she-cat before he barreled straight into her. "Mousedung! I'm sorry," he muttered awkwardly.

Soaringstar had tried so hard to hold a simple conversation, but it got increasingly difficult when the brown tabby she-cat began to pace in front of him. He was starting to have the feeling that this may have been the worst gathering to have been his first. "I don't think I did, must've been coming from a different direction. It's mostly evergreens in my neck of the woods. Though we do have several small maples of our own in my territory, they hardly count as a forest." Soaringstar was polite and really, truly trying to pay close attention to Foxstar, but he couldn't help glancing at the angry leaders not four tail-lengths away.

Poppythorn grinned, "Oh no. I love being around others cats. I've been alone for awhile and I rather missed the company." It was true, she never felt more comfortable than when surrounded by others. Friendliness had always been her greatest asset. She was only mediocre with herbs, but she was a great talker. She'd always been good at getting others to like her, even Stormshadow was coming around, and the black warrior was painfully shy.
