Name: Senshi Ōjo - Jo - "Warrior Princess" in Japanese
Gender: Female
What do they think of their parents' occupations?:
"But dad, you said you weren't leaving again!" I squeak in frustration. "You said you were staying here with me and mommy!" He shakes his head, sighing. "I know, Jo. I have to go. They found something out there that I have to check out!" He sighs. Mommy steps outside, having watched the argument from inside. "Bastion? What's going on?" She asks him, a twinge of fear edging into her voice. He turns from me to face Mommy. "Ahh, Ayana! How're you?" He asks brightly. "Tell me what's going on!" She objects. He stares into her eyes a moment before finally giving in. "I'm leaving again. The crew found something out there and they want me to check it out." He explains quickly, shooting a glance at me as I huff, crossing my arms. Mommy sighs, looking at the ground. "You promised us, Bastion." is all she says as she slowly pads back inside. I give him one last tearful glance and follow her up the stairs and into the house, leaving him alone on the porch.
I hate how mommy and daddy are so different. Their life-styles are so different, it often leaves me hurting in the dust. Daddy's always leaving, mommy's always busy. They don't have time for me. I mean, mommy's a princess, so I don't blame her, but daddy doesn't have an excuse. He'd rather traverse an ocean in a wooden box of doom than raise his own child? I guess I can't really blame him... He does what he enjoys to get the most out of life, I can understand that. Sometimes I just wish he would take me with, or just talk to me from time to time. It's like I don't exist.

"I love my mommy. I love my daddy too. They aren't the bestest, but they try. Daddy goes away a lot and mommy's always busy, but sometimes I get to do cool things. I rebmber remember one time my daddy took me on his ship and let me pretend to be captin captain. I pretendd pretended that I was fiting fighting a hundred pirits pirates! I remember another time when mommy took me to meet another princess! That was realy really fun!"
I put my pencil down and crack my knuckles, shaking out my paw. All my classmates are still writing in their journals. Mr. Rucker told us to write about good memories this time, so I wrote about mommy and daddy. I have lots of good memories of them!
I look up at the clock, grinning. The bell is about to ring, I get to see daddy after school! He's been out at sea for the past two weeks and I miss him so much. Mommy misses him too, you can tell. I pack up all my stuff and sit, squirming, in my seat. Mr. Rucker passes out the homework and I mindlessly shove it into my folder. The bell finally rings and I'm halfway across the classroom before anyone has the chance to even move. I race to my hook and grab my backpack and throw my stuff inside while I'm still running. I pull the doors open and come to a skidding stop. Daddy's not there. Just a sad mommy.
Mommy walks up to me and pats my head. "How's my favorite first grader?" She asks, booping my nose. "I'm good!" I giggle, then turn serious. "Where's daddy?" She sighs. "He called from the ship, they're not getting home for another two days." She answers, her head hanging low. I stick out my lower lip and look up at her with big eyes. "But he promised us..." I mumble. She nods, "I know honey." She says, starting to walk towards the house.
Almost every time he leaves is like that. I don't know why I never come to expect it. I guess I let my hope control my mind sometimes. Maybe one day he'll realize his family is waiting for him. Maybe one day he'll come home to us.
