I am definitely going to be doing some editing on this.
My end goal is to be able to make a nice cat
editable off of this so that I can make all of my OC's
and other people can too in the future
once I get a hang of this.

There's just a couple problems though...:
1. I'm not very experienced with computer art, but I'll work with that
2. HOW DO I MAKE LAYERS?

I wanted to make a layer for the head, body, and other such,
but that just doesn't seem to be working out. I don't
even know how to name the layers I have made.
Can someone tell me how to make layers please?

For making layers, on the bottom of the palette for layers, there is a plus and a minus button, the plus adds a layer, the minus deletes the layer you have selected.
As for naming them, you double click on the layer.
