Stormbreeze tried not to smile when he heard her question. So she did want to talk to him then.... "Oh, I'm not really on my own, actually. The deputy's way over there." He flicked his tail toward the west. "We're just looking for a kittypet he scented yesterday. That's all. A-and I wasn't hiding ... I was just, uh, well, I didn't know if you were some wandering, hostile rogue or something like that, so I ... just, um - I wasn't hiding, okay?" he spoke quickly, stammering, and gritted his teeth in annoyance at how unconvincing he sounded. He didn't want to seem a coward, and didn't like admitting that he was hiding - it certainly would have earned him a sarcastic remark from one of his Clan-mates. He tried to change the subject, "I, uh ... I - I didn't get your name...?"

Cherryclaw nodded, glancing in the direction the tom had indicated. Now that she thought of it, she was able to pick up traces of another cat's scent. "Sure you weren't," she mewed sarcastically, trying to keep her whiskers from twitching with amusement. Despite her best efforts, a small grin was forming at her lips. She couldn't deny that she was enjoying herself—just a bit. "My name?" Cherryclaw echoed, taken aback. "To report the 'hostile rogue' to whoever your leader is, yes? Well, I'm staying on my side of the border, and Robinstar's too panicked to worry about trivial things like this. So, if you insist, they call me Cherryclaw," the young warrior mewed coolly, meeting the LeafClan tom's eyes with an almost-challenging stare.

All her instincts screamed at Barkknot to run away, the barrel back home to the safe Beechclan camp! The safe and... lonesome camp. But this situation, this purring and tail curling was wrong on so many different levels. Her Thoughts were not supposed to become reality! But her body and her racing mind were no longer connected, and Barkknot stayed where she was, almost leaning into Tanglestep. "Well, when around such a handsome tom once can't really escape the rise of Thoughts," she mewed quietly. Even with Tanglestep leaning back into her she couldn't help the usual flood of guilt that came with such things. She wasn't used to her Thoughts being anything but destructive fantasies.[/color]

Momo showed no signs of dissuasion despite Honeyfur's clear accusation. "It's nice to meet you Honeyfur!" the she-cat mewed chipperly. "Are all medicine cats so adorably grumpy? Asptail is too, too bad he's a tom." All the good tsundere types seemed to be male in her clan, what a let down. But now there was this very stoic and very female Honeyfur before her and Momo didn't feel like giving up just yet. Instead she ignored the order to move and comically began to sniff her own pelt. "Do I smell that clan already? Kappas, it's only been a moon!" The bob tail made a 'yuck' face and then shrugged. "You'd think all the swimming would wash it away. But what do you smell like, herbs?" The scent of sharp, tangy plants was fairly clear from where Momomoon sat, but she took a step closer to the other she-cat anyways.

Stormbreeze stared down at his paws in embarrassment when she mentioned his thinking her a rogue. He softly mumbled an apology before glancing up to see the slightest smile on her face. He couldn't help but grin back. The tom wondered why her leader was panicked, but he decided he wouldn't pry, and instead, he mewed, "Well, it's been a pleasure meeting you, Cherryclaw. My name is Stormbreeze."

Tanglestep couldn't help that despite her actions, Barkknot seemed to be worried about something. He murmured a quiet "don't worry" as he slowly curled his tail around hers, gazing at her pale eyes. In that moment, all thoughts of Cloudmask and Ivykit and... whatever that other kit's name was... were washed away, leaving only this moment. "What kind of thoughts?" Tanglestep prompted gently with a soft smile, attempting to be the comforting tom that Barkknot had previously described him as.

Cherryclaw eyed the gray tom as he ducked his head in embarrassment. She was surprised to feel an odd pang of guilt. "I'm sorry," she muttered feebly, surprising a grimace; she had never been a big fan of apologizing. "Stormbreeze..." Cherryclaw murmured almost to herself. "It was..." Nice? Fun? Interesting? "It was good meeting you," the young she-cat finally replied. Good?! Of all words, I chose to say good? Cherryclaw bit her lip, her gaze falling in frustration at her own measly statement. As she gazed at the ground, another thought drifted across her mind. She had already mentioned Robinstar... should she tell him about everything that was happening? There wasn't much point in doing so, but there was just as little purpose in saying nothing. "It's been better than being back at camp, at least," Cherryclaw finally decided to mew, her eyes wandering.

At the she-cat's last statement, Stormbreeze's eyes took on an expression of concern. "Is everything alright?" he queried gently. He had told himself not to be nosy, but he had to ask.

'Adorably grumpy?' Honeyfur felt herself heat up. She eyed Momomoon questioningly, unsure if she was beginning to hear things, or if this 'Momomoon' really just lacked subtlety. Either way, she would take it as a compliment. She narrowed her eyes at the bobtailed cat and tilted her head as she began to go off about.. something else, but when she began to smell her thick pelt, she leaned far back to avoid her sniffing nose. When she could go back no further, she then pouted at the warrior and took a few steps back herself. Honeyfur meowed icily, "I'm a medicine cat. What else would I smell like? A pile of mousedung?" Her tail lashed quickly behind her as she glared down at Momomoon, but her nose was twitching slightly in an attempt to discreetly analyze the intruder's scent.

Cherryclaw stared distantly at the ground, her green eyes troubled. "It's just that, well... a couple moons ago, Cricketpaw, an apprentice passed away. She was about to become a warrior. Tanglestep was with her. He said she tripped. And in her fall she hit her head on a rock," Cherryclaw explained in short, halting sentences. Memories of the cheerful apprentice flooded her mind, and, not for the first time, she felt a stab of guilt for being so rude to the young calico. "And then, a moon later, our medicine cat apprentice Speckledpaw died from eating deathberries. Robinstar seems to think that they weren't accidents... That some cat is trying to get rid of AspenClan's members, one by one," Cherryclaw whispered darkly. A moment passed, and she shook her head. "It's ludicrous, Stormbreeze. She's frantic, and her distress is screwing up her thought." At last, Cherryclaw lifted her head, seemingly just becoming aware of her surroundings. Had she just poured out the secrets of her Clan to a complete and total stranger? The russet warrior's heart began to pound. "Stars, I shouldn't have said that. I should go," she mewed hastily, her expression hardening. Despite her words, however, Cherryclaw lingered for a moment, as if waiting for the LeafClan tom to respond.

At first Stormbreeze had no clue what to say. He was so shocked and couldn't believe that she had actually blurted out all of that after just meeting him. He tried his best to comfort her, "Well ... I can understand how you and your Clan-mates must feel. A moon ago, we lost one of our kits, Shadekit. She and Falconkit sneaked out of the camp and got too close to the river and - and she fell in. Everyone in the Clan felt they had lost something. She was so sweet and adorable and..." he trailed off as his voice began to crack the tiniest bit. He hadn't been around the kits as much as some of the others, but every once in a while he would check in on them, and Shadekit would always be the first greet him and would ask for him to show them how to do the hunting crouch. She was so eager to learn, and she had so much potential.... "But her mother's gone absolutely berserk, though," he continued. "A few of us are worried she's going to seriously lash out at someone - that someone particularly being Falconkit, whom she believes caused Shadekit's death. Everyone's kind of on edge at the moment." As Cherryclaw mentioned her needing to leave, Stormbreeze found himself feeling a little disappointed. "Oh, y-yeah, I should probably get going, too. I'm sure Ashenclaw's wondering where I am...."

Barkknot shuddered, but not at Tanglestep's touch. No, in fact the tom's soft presence was calming to her- in a heart bounding, fur flushing kind of way. The she-cat just didn't like talking about her Thoughts, not even to Sorrelstar or Claywhistle. Saying them out loud just made them seem more real. "Usually... Usually they're bad. I see myself yelling at another cat, or betraying them, or even..." She trailed off, shooting a glance at Tanglestep's face as if mentally preparing herself for a horrified look or rejection, Or even killing one of them." Then, realizing how that coudl be taken, added quickly, "But that's not these kinds of Thoughts! These aren't deadly I promise!" But still dangerous.

Momo grinned brilliantly despite the penetrating glares she was receiving and followed Honeyfur's retreat with equal paw-steps. "I'm glad that you smell like sweet herbs instead of mouse dung, otherwise you'd definitely need a dip in the river! The she-cat pawsed in her advance and seemed to think, then, apparently coming to a conclusion, smiled even wider until her grin touched her river eyes. "Hey you should come swim with me anyways! It'd be fun! Besides, in the river we'd be off your territory!" She stuck her tongue out as she mewed the last word pointedly.
