~Many Voices Crying Out As One~

Squirrelstar padded out of the nursery, her swollen stomach slowing her down as she made her way across the clearing and jumped up onto EchoRock. "Let all cats gather!" The pale ginger leader yowled. She waited quietly as her clanmates filed out, quickly filling the area around the EchoRock. "We have three apprentices who have finished their training." She began, smiling fondly down at Yewpaw and her two grandchildren.

"Birdsong, Brightclover and Smokespeck, do you think your apprentices are ready to start their climb up the mountain?"

The three mentors looked at each other, smiling before they each nodded. "Very well. Yewpaw, Pigeonpaw and Witheredpaw, eat your fill! At Sunhigh, you will set out. You have a moon to climb to the mountain's peak and return." The Echoclan cats jumped up, crowing around the three and cheering loudly.

Sunnyflower was watching from the entrance of the nursery, her amber gaze focused on her kits. Squirrelstar frowned at her daughter, wondering what was wrong with her. She had been acting strange ever since she found out she was expecting her second litter. The leader thought it might be because Stagstep was fathering another she-cat's kits but she had never shown disdain towards the young queen.

Witheredpaw, Pigeonpaw and Yewpaw broke away from their clanmates, waving their tails in goodbye as they headed out of camp. The three walked in silence until they were far away from the camp. "So which way should we go?" Pigeonpaw mewed, turning to the other two. Witheredpaw scoffed slightly at her brother, moving past him and launching herself up onto a large rock.

"It doesn't matter what way we go, Pigeonpaw! It all leads to the same place. Just climb."

Mossvine waited until the commotion in camp had died down before she made her way out of camp. The white she-cat moved through the undergrowth, leaving deep pawprints in the snow. She winced as a strong gust of wind blew at her, ruffling the calico patches on her head, back and legs.

The Echoclan warrior halted at the edge of the treeline as she got to the small cave that Echoclan had recently started using for special ceremonies. Before it had been given that purpose, Squirrelstar had come here for guidance with Dapplewing whenever she couldn't make it to the Moonpool. The leader would shout her question in the cave and Dapplewing would have to decipher the echos that came back. Squirrelstar had stopped coming after Dapplewing's death though.

Dapplewing...

"Starclan..." Mossvine called. "Have I done something to a-anger you? Is that why you took Dapplewing from me?" The she-cat stood there for several moments, feeling as if every ounce of energy and life had drained from her body when she didn't hear an echo come back to her... Not hearing echos was a bad thing...

Mossvine squeezed her eyes shut, whimpering quietly before turning to leave.

A warm breeze rushed past Mossvine, causing her to gasp in shock. A warm feeling enveloped Mossvine and a familiar scent reached her nose. Mossvine closed her eyes, a purr rumbling in her throat.

"I am the fierce Copperflame!" Troutleap didn't have time to react as the small and very young ball of red fluffy fur came flying towards him in a fit of rage. Really. Troutleap seriously wasn't in the mood to be attacked by such a creature..... Well more liked malled. Pushing the cat off him with a hard shove Troutleap hissed with frustration, "Are you kidding me?" Looking the thing up and down he realized he must of been around the age of a very new warrior. Fresh off the spot, and he clearly was trying to prove himself although he would of gotten himself killed if it was anyone else but Troutleap. "Where is your food? We have you're surrounded!" This "Copperflame" growled. Troutleap tilted his head, "Um, who's 'we' ?" This copper coloured cat scoffed and glared at Troutleap, his olive eyes examining him. "My clan of course, this is our territory!" he screeched again. He was really acting it out here but Troutleap couldn't contain his bubbling laughter and just lost it. Copperflame looked quite surprised and angry, probably because Troutleap knew he wasn't telling the truth. "Ok kit-" Toutleap was cut off by him in a second. "I am no kit! I am a strong warrior." He stood stall and proud but his skinny little frame was another story, mostly from the lack of food but he also had that young look to him. "How old are you then." Troutleap smirked wildly at him and Copperflame frowned deeply. "I am 14 moon." Troutleap laughed again and continued to laugh for quite awhile. "Barely a warrior you mean." Copperflame just sat his butt in the snow with a defeated look, "Whatever, I'll leave." Troutleap sighed as he watched the young warrior stand and start to leave, what kind of warrior....no what kind of deputy would Troutleap be if he just let this starving young fool walk off? "You can come with me..." The tom turned around with a very excited look on his face. "Really!?" Troutleap nodded and started walking on. Copperflame running after him with snow flying everywhere, "Mine name's Copperflame, I gave it to myself actually. My dad trained me...." Troutleap sort of stopped listening after a moment as the other tom was going on and on about a mile a minute and Troutleap wasn't about to endure that.

By the time they got to camp Soulstar had met up with the two, Runningsong giving Troutleap a friendly smile and all Troutleap could really do was give an awkward one back and frown. 'Why is she smiling..?' he thought with a disturbed look plastered on his muzzle. Copperflame was ecstatic and Soulstar was very happy to listen to his stories about being out on the road as they ate that night. Copperflame was very passionate by the sounds of it, he explained how his choice on attacking Trouleap was a bad idea and he wasn't that bad of a fighter, also apologizing in the process. The whole group couldn't help but laugh though, the copper tom was amusing. Ivythistle shared how difficult it was to find herbs and how she would pick up where she left off tomorrow. Runningsong expressed how she would rather go on patrol tomorrow with Troutleap then hunt on her own. Soulstar grinned just a little as the look on Troutleap's face changed and Soulstar agreed.

The next morning the group was fast and eager. Soulstar was determined to go to this next clan gathering he had heard of with a stable and ready clan. So he sent Runningsong and Troutleap out on a search for more warriors to join, Ivythistle already had her plans for the day and Soulstar and Copperflame headed towards the river. It was slowly becoming free of ice and Soulstar hoped to catch a hefty fish or two and see how Copperflame's swimming skills were.

brambletail padded across the clearing to amberstar's den. poking his head in slightly, he checked if she was asleep. he backed out when he found an empty nest, and bumped into something. "oh, amberstar! i'm sorry, i didn't see you there!" brambletail stammered, before continuing. "i was going to tell you that i'm leaving to collect some herbs." amberstar nodded, "okay. be careful." dipping his striped head, brambletail padded out of camp, hoping to find what scarce herbs there were.

Robinstar seemed disheartened when he rallied the hunting patrol, Branchbelly noticed. There was a troubled gleam in his eye that the leader didn't voice to his patrol, but each cat knew why. Two apprentices had been taken while they were out with Finchtuft - the medicine cat had rushed back into camp in a tizzy, telling how the kits' father had apparently come back to claim them. Goosepaw and Pebblepaw had gone with their father, but the other three had chosen to remain with the clan. Briefly, talk had bubbled up of going after the apprentices, but it died quickly. Now talk of the event was scarce, even though it was on many minds. "Come, the snow has begun to thaw; we need to get out before another freeze comes and scares prey back into their burrows." Robinstar's voice shook Branchbelly out of his thoughts, and the patrol quickly departed.

Hollytuft was bounding around camp as usual, but this time she seemed to have a determined gleam in her bright eyes. Two poor cats who fell in her line of sight were Mudstrike and Flickerfang, the newest warrior and the newest arrival. Flickerfang was seated just outside the warriors den and seemed to be examining camp, committing his new home to memory. "On your paws, kittens!" Hollytuft yowled, startling Mudstrike, who'd been grooming near the apprentice's den, and sending the young tom flailing onto his side. Once both warriors were up and heading towards her, the fluffy deputy lashed her tail eagerly. "We need to take advantage of this thaw, you two! This might be the only chance we get to patrol our borders without freezing our paws off!" Neither tom looked particularly eager to trudge out into the slush, but something about Hollytuft's enthusiasm dared them to refuse. Unfortunately, Flickerfang had more common sense than that, and Mudstrike was more than a little intimidated by the older molly. When no complaints came her way, Hollytuft shook her pelt roughly and took off for the camp entrance.

The silence that clung to the camp clearing seemed to affect the medicine den the most. Ripplepaw was in the herb store, silently committing the herb scents and shapes to memory while her mentor nosed around Pikefang. The silver tabby was looking more irritable by the minute, flexing his claws as the medicine cat prodded and sniffed. As if on cue, right as the warrior had opened his jaws to snap, Ripplepaw emerged from the herb store with a few golden flowers. "Eat this." She said, dropping the flowers at Pikefang's paws and watching impassively when he looked skeptical. Finchtuft, on the other paw, looked impressed and beyond proud. "I was hoping that your cold would sort itself out," The medicine cat admitted, his eyes sparkling as he watched Ripplepaw. "But maybe tansy is the right call - it'll help your cough, at the very least."

"They look wonderful." Badgerclaw's raspy purr was barely a whisper as he stood in the entrance of the nursery. His amber eyes were wide with wonder as he gazed at the tiny scraps snuggled up against their mother's belly. He moved past the pleased medicine cats and over to his mate's side. He muttered, "Did you name them yet?" Silvershade chuckled, her tired eyes flashing with amusement. "No you silly furball! You know I wouldn't do it without you." They shared a loving look, before Silvershade broke away to look down at their kits. She gently brushed her paw over the only she-kit, who had a spotted silver pelt exactly like her mother's. Badgerclaw remarked, "Wow. She looks just like you." Silvershade's eyes hardened, and she murmured, "And just like my brother." Badgerclaw had already opened his mouth to apologize for any offense she had taken, but Silvershade had already continued explaining. "His name was Specklepaw. He died from greencough before he could gain his warrior name. That's why she'll be named Specklekit, so she can live the life he never got to." She sighed quietly, gazing sorrowfully down at her paws. She stayed silent for a couple heartbeats, before returning his gaze to Badgerclaw and mewing, "You may name the other two." Badgerclaw was slightly taken aback by her tragic reasoning, but he stayed quiet and examined the two tom kits before him. One of them was a silver and white tabby, with soft and silky fur. Even as small as he was, it was apparent that he would grow to be lean and sleek like his mother. The other kit seemed like runt of the litter, and his black and white pelt looking quite similar to his own. With just a look, he somehow knew just the names. "How about Beetlekit for the black one, and Mintkit for the white one?" Silvershade nodded her approval with a weary smile, resting her head beside the newborn kits with a gentle purr. Badgerclaw watched the kits lovingly, before he was interrupted by a soft mew. "Excuse me sir, but we would like to ask you to give them some space for the night." Badgerclaw gave them a confused look. Honeyfur flatly continued, "While she is currently hiding it, the kitting was awfully hard on her. They'll all need to rest well." With only a moment of thought, Badgerclaw silently nodded in agreement, and trotted away without a word.

Briarstar slammed his paw against the ground, his green eyes sparking with urgency. "Cats of Thicketclan. I have heard news of a blizzard blowing in. We will take action immediately. All available warriors including myself will be put on a hunting patrol, Honeyfur and Morningpaw must search for herbs, and I will travel to the moonpool to ask for a recruit." He paused for a moment, taking a calming deep breath, before continuing with a calmer tone. "I extend my paw in greeting to Applepelt. He has been sent by Starclan to become a warrior of my clan, and I will trust you guys to treat him well." He looked down to the mentioned warrior. The young tom had his chest puffed out comically, his ginger and white fur shining in the light. His folded ears perked up when he heard his name, a proud smile gracing his mouth. Unbeknownst to the rest of Thicketclan, Morningpaw had been watching the odd warrior from the medicine cat den. He had somehow caught her eyes ever since he had appeared. His folded ears, broad and round face, and his eyes that shone like a brilliant fire.. Wait, what? Morningpaw quickly shook the embarrassing ideas from his mind, and nervously began to approach him. She yelped, "Good m-morning Applepelt!" The ginger tom jumped at the sound of his name, stuttering, "Oh! Uh, g-good morning to you t-too." Applepelt laughed nervously,scanning the medicine cat apprentice from head to toe. "Wh-What was your name again?" Morningpaw felt her tail unwillingly quiver behind her, and she mumbled, "It's Morningpaw." When Applepelt's eyes eventually locked with her own, they both felt their pelts flush, and Morningpaw was the first to abruptly break away. "I, uh.. t-think I hear H-Honeyfur calling for me! It was n-nice meeting you. Bye! " She swiftly darted away into the medicine cat den, leaving a flustered Applepelt behind. Applepelt sighed wistfully as he watched her dash into the shadowy den. Suddenly, he was stopped in his tracks by a chilling mew. "Hey." Applepelt whirled around to see a young cream tom, who he recognized as Morningpaw's brother. He gnashed his teeth and growled, "Don't try anything, alright? She's a medicine cat, and she's got responsibilities. She doesn't need you to get in the way. So go move along." Applepelt was unable to respond, because he was gone in a flash. With nothing left to do, he quietly he joined the patrol, and they set out into the woods.

A storm was coming. Soaringstar could feel it in the air. The clouds raced though the sky on the strong wind. It howled and made his eyes water when he looked into it. Although, it was helpful for at least one thing, they brought him scents from a long way off. That was how he had picked up the trail of the stranger. The cat had been quite a ways from the border, but Soaringstar could tell where they had been. He looked for them for a time, but wasn't terribly surprised to not find them.

Upon returning to camp Soaringstar conversed with Falconswoop. He told the deputy of the unknown scent he had picked up and it seemed to interest the tom. He insisted on going out to try and recruit them for Blazeclan. Soaringstar doubted that the cat would still be there, but he figured if Falconswoop was so determined to find them, he might as well let him try. "Knock yourself out. I'm not going to be here to tell you no anyway." He said with a shrug. Falconswoop seemed confused by this, "You're leaving me?" he asked, slightly apprehensive. Soaringstar smirked, of course Falconswoop didn't know where he was going, he's still coming to terms with the existence of Starclan. "I think it's been long enough since my last visit to Starclan. So I'm going to the moonpool to do so." Feeling this was good a time as any he stood up and started to leave before the snow started. "I trust you to take care of things while I'm gone. I probably won't get back for most of a moon." He called over his shoulder with a relaxed smile.

Falconswoop shook his head. He still didn't understand his leader, Soaringstar obviously trusted him, but he didn't even know him. He did so out of some profound trust in Starclan, which Falconswoop still wasn't completely sold on. Their "clan" was only the two of them, and since he'd joined, he and Soaringstar had been mostly separated, taking turns hunting and patroling the borders. It was a large territory for two cats, and Falconswoop couldn't help but wonder how Soaringstar had managed to keep it by himself as long as he had. There was obviously more to the long furred leader than met the eye, all he had to do was be patient, something told him he would be spending the rest of his life with him.

"Can I leave now, please, Willowcloud?" Birchpaw begged. His cold was gone, but the medicine cat had made him remain in her den for another week just to make sure it didn't come back. The poor apprentice was growing more restless every second and was dying to the get out of the confinement of the den. Willowcloud let out a little sigh. "Yes, I suppose you're free to go." Birchpaw then let out a squeak of excitement and raced out of the den to find his mentor Tinyfeather. Willowcloud smiled, glad that his cold didn't escalate into something worse like whitecough or greencough. She padded into the small alcove tucked away in the back of her den, where she stored her herbs, and began sorting the medicines. She was nearly finished when Applepaw approached her. "Do you need any help with that? Or do you want me to check on the kits?" he offered. "No, I was actually wanting to quiz you on the herbs a bit today," she mewed. He was getting older and had already helped out with kittings and had gone out by himself to collect herbs, so Willowcloud had recently begun to think about when she would give him his full medicine cat name. She thought he was almost ready, but she wanted to see how much he remembered about the herbs first.

Ashenclaw knew that Frostpath was suspicious of him. It was obvious. She was always asking if he was alright, and whenever he went out on patrol towards the AsterClan border, she would try to steer the group clear of it. He didn't know what was up with her, but clearly she didn't want him to be in a forbidden relationship. Now, he could understand how she was feeling if they were enemies with AsterClan, but no - they were allies. It really shouldn't be that bad, he kept telling himself. He knew that when he would finally tell Emberstar what was going on, she wouldn't go against it. Yes, she tried to act firm, but really she was soft-hearted, he knew. She wouldn't exile him for falling in love. But the thing was - he didn't know if he would be shunned by the rest of the Clan. He sighed as he led Honeydapple and the new warrior Stormbreeze out on the border patrol, to the western border instead of the southern one. At least he would get to see Sheepclaw at the coming Gathering. Thank StarClan it wasn't too far away now. He just hoped that Frostpath and Webfang wouldn't be attending as well.

Tinyfeather smiled as the sunshine warmed her fur. New-leaf was almost here, and the cats couldn't wait. They wouldn't have to worry so much about catching a sickness or having enough food. But the snow would be gone. That was the one thing that Tinyfeather loved about leaf-bare - the snow. It was so beautiful, and snowball fights were so much fun. It'll be nice to hear the birds singing again, though, she thought. She had certainly missed waking up to their morning songs. The patrol padded along, Patchthorn and Featherpaw in the lead, Tinyfeather and Dustfall in the rear, and everyone else somewhere in-between. Because she had been thinking about the snow, Tinyfeather had an idea for the last snowball fight of this leaf-bare. Yes, she would seem a rambunctious little kit, but she wouldn't care. Carefully and silently, she began to gather snow in her paw until it was enough the hurl at the nearest cat - Dustfall. "W-h-wh-what was th-that f-for?" the tom sputtered, quickly trying to shake the snow from his face. Tinyfeather only giggled, launching another snowball at him. "Tinyfeather! What are you doing?" Dustfall couldn't help but smile and throw a snowball back at her. "Ooh! A snowball fight!" Featherpaw squealed, leaping over to aid Tinyfeather. "Featherpaw..." Patchthorn growled, utterly disappointed in his apprentice for abandoning the task at hand. "Oh, come on, Patchthorn, have some fun once in a while!" Tinyfeather chimed in when she noticed the steely expression on the older warrior's face. Frostpath sighed, muttering to him, "They are a bunch of kits aren't they? Let's just continue the patrol...." And so she, Patchthorn, and Webfang left the three others and Cloudtalon to their snow battle. Eventually, though, it ended, and the warriors resumed their normal mature nature and bounded to catch up with the others.

Sunshadow glanced around the unfamiliar camp, looking for something to do. "Hey Sunshadow!" Brightsky bounded up to him, her pretty calico pelt shining in the morning light. Sunshadow still felt a little uncomfortable in his new surroundings, and Brightsky was really helping him adjust. "G-good morning Brights-sky," he stuttered. Fox dung, he cursed to himself. My stupid stutter. But Brightsky only giggled. Sunshadow glanced over her shoulder and glimpsed Appleclaw watching them. The white warrior's eyes were dark with... anger? Guilt? Envy? Sunshadow couldn't tell. Deciding to ignore the warrior, he turned back to Brightsky. "So how'd you sleep?" the she-cat asked, her voice cheerful. "F-fine," Sunshadow replied. In truth his dreams had been plagued with nightmares of fighting, blood, and death, but he didn't want to worry his friend. "Y-you?" he asked. "I slept great! I was having this amazing dream where I was chasing this giant rabbit, but then Appleclaw let out an obnoxious snore and woke me up, right when I was about to deliver the killing bite!" She exclaimed. At the mention of his name, Appleclaw sauntered over to join them. "I heard my name. You telling Sunshadow how amazing I am, Brightsky?" he joked. It took much self-control for Sunshadow to not roll his eyes, but he managed. Brightsky snorted. "As if!" she shouted, nudging Appleclaw's shoulder affectionately. Just then, Whitewhisker padded over. "Sorry to break up the fun," he mewed. "But I was thinking we could all go on a hunting patrol with Ivystar," he said. "Like a big, family hunting trip!" Brightsky declared. "Great idea, Whitewhisker! Let's go!" Her green eyes shone with excitement. "I-is B-Buzzardflight coming t-too?" Sunshadow asked. "Yup," Buzzardflight emerged from his den, joining the conversation. "How many times must I remind you that I am a medicine cat?" he spat at Whitewhisker. The deputy let out a sigh. "I'm not having this conversation with you again, Buzzardflight," the white tom mewed exasperatedly. Finally, Ivystar approached the group of cats. "Is everyone ready?" she asked. "Yup!" Brightsky squealed. "Y-yes," Sunshadow stuttered. Buzzardflight snorted his annoyance, and Ivystar shot him a threatening glare. Whitewhisker gently rubbed his tail against Ivystar's shoulder, not wanting a fight to break about between her and the irritable medicine cat. "Then let's go!" The six cats padded out of camp, ready to go hunting.

This is the Clan of mischief, the home of troublemakers, the perfect place for schemers. The certainly don't have the best reputation of all the Clans, due to their being so prone to "playing pranks." There are some sincere, thoughtful cats in the Clan, however they are far outnumbered by the baddies. At Gatherings, they are always on the lookout for like-minded cats to plot with and innocent ones to manipulate.
