Ah, they were leaving. A signals her group, then signals her group to follow after Vaxas'. With one hand she signals Malcolm, the other pulling a dagger out of her belt and holding it in the air for Malcolm to grab. She shifts her eyes among her group, counting heads. Malcolm. Dakota. Mikayla. They'd be fine...Probably.

Malcolm is all cheery as A tells him they're leaving. Her signal means scout, which he knows all too well. He spreads his arms and lets feathers grown from his skin, the beak emerging grotesquely form his mouth as his body folds into his bird form. This time he is the size of an eagle, with 20 eyes and tentacle-like tendrils in place of his tail feathers. He caws loudly before taking off, brushing by Dakota so his feathers just barely touch the deertaur's horns, before diving towards A and taking the dagger from her hands. Swiftly, he's high in the sky, only distinguishable by his shiny wings and the glint of the sun off the dagger.

Akiria's eyes widened by just a tiny bit before going back to normal. She was a little surprised, to say the least, that he'd done that, but didn't ask him about it. "She just said to keep an eye out for everyone in our group and to be careful." the elf said. It was partially true- she'd just left out the part of specifically taking care of the commander. 'A lie of omission is still a lie.' A voice rang in her head, but she shook it off. She'd promised not to say anything.

Vaxas stayed silent, furrowing his brows in contemplation.
A knows he's an idiot. He knows he's an idiot. It didn't sound right for A to just tell Akiria to come over without some specific directions on taking care of him. No matter, he wouldn't question it.

"Fair enough.
This one is a little more serious. I understand it hits a little deep,
it does with me as well, but I do need to know your answer and reaction."

Vaxas wasn't ready to ask this question, but he did anyways.
Sticking his hands into his pockets as he trekked down the path, he takes a deep breath.
"In the case the demon kills another person you love, what would you do?"

Akiria took in a sharp breath at the question, hesitating for a moment. Now that she was more skilled, she knew the option she'd try her best for- get revenge. And yet.. she didn't know. "I.. If I had the chance to get back at them, I would." Thinking of Eiya once again, she inwardly flinched. She still had yet to make amends with that.

Even from Akiria, the subject of a loved one's life lost is pretty damn upsetting.
Vaxas wanted to teach her right then and there, he would have to start again with Mallius, though.

You say what you want if it's gonna protect her.
Vaxas closes his eyes, sighing.

"Mallius told me a number of things before I sent him off.
One of which, was in the case he wouldn't make it back, he didn't want me to run in and stick a sword through the princess' chest.
Eiya wouldn't want you risking your life in an irrational rage, just to get revenge.
It wouldn't be well worth it if you died without accomplishing your goal.

"Take your chances, but only the ones with the least risk.
You're not the type of person to walk straight into a situation without assessing it first, I know."

Vaxas found himself beginning to ramble.
Rambling about things that he wasn't supposed to say due to the fact that it would be unprofessional.
He started talking about things that were too personal, and they had left his lips before he could stop himself.
He could only hope that Akiria wouldn't take it the way he meant for it to be.

"If it ever comes down to life or death, though, you know I'll have your back."
Those were the last words that he said with a proud voice before it dwindled down into a whisper.

"I won't let them touch you."

Akiria nodded in reply, taking in his words. He was right, though. Biting her lip, she said, "I know." she wasn't sure why he being more.. open than usual, but she didn't want to question him. After his last statement, she met his eyes for a brief moment. "I'll always be there as well." she said quietly. 'What are you doing?' she thought to herself. 'You're acting as weird as he is..'

Vaxas had to try pretty hard to contain a smile.
She'll never feel the same way I do,
either that or she'll never understand it if she ever did.

Vaxas thought that it was best that they never got involved with each other,
especially at a time like this.
He didn't want to be responsible for her death, as well as Mallius',
and he didn't want Akiria to be responsible for his own death. He just didn't want anyone to die.

Vaxas looked back at Malcolm who was gliding effortlessly in the air.
It took him a moment to remember that he could fly, too. Paradox was more than just a silhouette.
I'm getting greedy.
I can feel the needs and wants burning inside me.
I guess this is what love feels like. It hurts.

"Glad to hear that."

Mikayla saw Captain A signal for them to move out. Instantly her entire attitude changed, becoming cold and distant. "I have to go. Have a good day, Princess Elora." she said, mainly using the correct title to try to maintain a distance. She walked over to A's group, trying to see if anyone else had noticed the strange bird or if she was seeing things.

Elora snapped out of thought as Mikayla excused herself.
"Oh... O--Okay," she replied; waving to her as she left.
The princess didn't see anything. She was just getting lost in thought again as she started wondering what would happen if she did accidentally hurt someone...

As Adelaide kept wandering around out of her child-like instincts, she noticed two familiar people.
The Dragon-Quill man and her friend Wispy.
Happily, she ran towards them; her arms out and looking like she was going into a running-start hug.

Akiria nodded once again, biting her lip and turning away from the taller elf to keep herself from doing anything else. 'If the trip's going to be like this until something happens, this will be awkward..' she thought, then was confused. Usually she was fine with doing things in silence, why would this be any different? She shook her head slightly and looked at the landscape in front of her, her eyes flitting from place to place in case she could spot anything- and to distract herself.
