So I was outside with Lucky and he knows how to catch things really well and I was going to take a slow motion video of him catching a ball but he wasn't paying attention and it hit him in the head. His reaction is kind of funny but i still feel bad. He seems perfectly fine and i pet him afterwards.

that really shouldn't be approved :c
Here's is an image to explain double Merle's better.

red = puppies who died from the lethality of the harlequin gene
pink = puppies born with double Merle, so deaf / blind pups
yellow = puppies born with undesirable coat colors
white = the 4/16 are the ones born without any problem

An amazing Instagram that follows the story of a Great Dane pup
who I believe were bred from two Merle's is called quinns_story

I knew Harls are modified merles just didn't know that merle = harl.
I though harls only carried a merle gene. that's why it still threw double merles. didn't know merle = modified merle
I actually own a double merle great dane named Schatzi. her parents were a merle and a harl byb its a long story lol

I can't get tiny pic to work, but hopefully this does lol.

We headed out yesterday to do some Valentine's Day photos, and got some awesome shots. (I'll save a couple for tomorrow too lol) K was taking photos, and I was playing prop master on most of them. It was a ton of fun, I love hanging out with K and Miya and I know Kes does too! She's starting to get really good at settling under the table when we go out to lunch too!

Sorry for the watermarks, have to start adding my IG name to photos since people find it so fun to steal her photos. Had a chick claim Kes was her dog on Lioden not too long ago, and when I questioned them, they knew a lot about her. (So assuming it was someone from here or IG)

Tomorrow I will be taking belated pictures for Chewie's birthday. He finally came home today! Wanted to give him today to settle back in before I made him pose lol.

Its baffling to me that a "breeder" can get away with making 1200$ off of a vision impaired mutt. Especially when this was the second puppy within the last two litters to have a vision impairment that was not present at birth. This doodle fad is rotten.

Doodles just... baffle me, like most "Designer breeds", people get into them for making money and have no care for the dogs health.

Not even sure who began the statement that harlequins = merles, but it's completely wrong.

A true sample of a harlequin:

A true sample of a merle:

Harlequins can be bred safely to harlequins with absolutely no health risk. It's only merle x merle that produces health problems.
It's also one of the reasons that merles aren't recognized by kennel clubs, since they can create major issues.

This also reminds me of something I wanted to bring up a long time ago: if you don't know what you're talking about, don't talk. If you want to get involved in a discussion, take five minutes and do a little Googling. It's simply harmful and irritating to have someone who has never had any experience with Danes tell me that my dog is "going to be blind/deaf" because my breeder is "focused mainly on colour in their program". While I'm not trying to be rude or discourage people from helping me, please. I've worked with and trained dogs for eight years. You're making more work for me later because now I have to go explaining to people that no, a harlequin is not a merle, and a double harlequin litter will be perfectly healthy.

(Again, not trying to be rude. Just fed up. Not looking for a fight here.)

Somebody's going to love when she can run around off leash with her friends again.

http://www.akc.org/content/entertainmen ... eat-grass/

I wanted to find out why JJ and Pete will sometimes decide to just chew on a random patch of grass and i found this article. It's kinda interesting. I've always heard that it was because they were lacking something nutritionally, but Pete and JJ eat very well and still enjoy nomming on grass.

Harlequin is just modified merle. The harlequin gene only works when the merle gene is also present meaning a harlequin dog also has an active merle gene. So yes you will still have health risks when breeding harl x merle, harl x harl, merle x merle.

Page to explain it
Blame is a coward but self-righteous
A funny little creature hiding out in me
Hate is power with a price tag
A funny little creature screaming out in me
Listen to me
Fear is a liar but he's been right before
If you fight your shadow, you'll get lost in a war
Ambitions a champ, but he's also greedy
Drunk or sober he always wants more
I always want more
I always want more
Lust is beauty in a body bag
A funny little thing that's screaming "Just use me!"
