Happy to announce I've finally settled on a dog breed - Great Danes.
Tentative breeder selection is Cilka Danes (x).
I say tentative because the breeder is planning on keeping 2 of the pups (since the sire and dam are both extremely well shown and well-rounded). As we're a show home, we're hoping for a lucky turnout of 3 show-quality pups to allow for us c:
Sire is BISS AM Ch BMW Architect of Jericho ROM, HOF (Aj) and the dam is BBPISS EX MHIT Ch Cilka's Peppercorn
V Duncndane CGN, CD, RA, VGD (Pepper).
Opinions on Cilka would be much appreciated~
I'm curious as to why they don't allow Harlequins to be placed in pet homes. The only reason I can think of is that they are focusing on the color in the breeding program. This concerns me as color should be a low priority of a responsible breeder. I'm not familiar with Great Danes in particular, but to me catering to a color fad doesn't jive with responsible breeding to me. Other than that they look good on paper.

At first they looked like a wonderful until I saw their planned pairing. Pairing merles or harlequins to merles or harlequins can/will produce doubles which either die at birth, are blind, deaf, or have many other health issues. No reputable breeder would ever do such a pairing so I'd look for another breeder who isn't planning a litter that will produce unhealthy pups. It shows that they're focusing more on the color of the dog than the health of the pups.
