xxxjulianna sat at a table full of young rowdy boys and girls that had nothing better to do than gossip. normally, the gossip would have sparked an interest in her; always having been one to be a fly on the wall and pick up the secrets of others. this english gossip, however, held no interest to her, nor could she pick up on all of it. her english may have been better than her brothers' but she was no where near a perfect speaker. odd phrases and metaphors tended to turn her on her head. julianna tried to ignore them as she read her potions book and ate her meal, but her peace didn't last very long. a whisper of durmstrang ran across the table, drawing julianna's attention away from her book and back to the idle gossip. of course durmstrang was on the forefront of everyone's mind. the dark school was never taken lightly and even frightened a few witches and wizards who remembered the dark role that durmstrang had played in the latest war. julianna's father used to tell her stories of a darker time when witches and wizards had united under a dark force. so it was no surprise to julianna when students threw a few untrusting glances her way during meal time. these girls weren't whispering anything she hadn't heard before, but it still made her bite her tongue to keep from lashing out at them. despite her school's rocky past, durmstrang was one of the best schools in the world, if not already the best. the idle gossip ignited a fire in her bones that made julianna leave the table before she put these english witches back in their place.
xxxjulianna stormed down the busy hallway, her book pressed close to her chest. whispers of bystanders passing her in the hall reminded of why she had been chosen as a champion in the first place. her initial shock at being chosen to participate in a potentially deadly competition had worn off with time, but the whispers around her only stirred her insecurities. there were other girls who were much better than julianna, the other champion included. the girl desperately wanted to win, not only wanting the fame that came with the title of champion, but the prize money as well, but she heavily doubted her ability to do so. however, she was going to do whatever it took to win, even if that included playing dirty. with thoughts of the mysterious first task running through her head, julianna prepared herself for bed.
xxxafter tossing and turning for five minutes, julianna fell into a restless sleep. she was quickly awoken by a rush of heat suffocating her. she snapped up, coughing. before her very eyes was a large wall of flames that only seemed to be getting closer. with a gasp, julianna leaped to her feet and backtracked away from the growing flames. a voice surrounded her, only serving to make her more confused. "This is the First Task, Something vital to you has been taken, and it is your objective to seek it out and reclaim it for yourself. The other Champions will be performing as such and you are advised to move quickly..." ah, so this was the first task; finding a vital item? julianna's eyebrows furrowed together in thought as she considered what this vital item might be.
xxxjulianna paced in circles, warily eyeing the fire. out of frustration, she ran a hand through her dark hair and groaned. she gasped as her hands ran freely through her hair, not running into the pin her mother had given to her before she left. suddenly, everything made sense. but how was she supposed to find a tiny dragonfly pin in such a large forest; one that was on fire no less. nervous hand began to braid her hair back as she pressed her way into the dark forest in search of her mother's pin.

xxxroy was ashamed to say he shrieked, yes actually shrieked when he heard addison. for some reason, he had not expected anyone else to be here. he figured it was a solo task, not a group effort. well, if she was here, they might as well help each other. roy was not afraid to admit that he was relieved to see a familiar face, even if they rarely spoke at school. he beamed at addison, waving a hand nonchalantly to play off his most unmanly screech from before. "Roy, they took my necklace. Did they take something of yours, too?" she asked, looking at him expectantly. roy's hands instinctively went to his pockets, even though the pants had none. instead of rubbing his lucky coin, roy's itchy fingers settled for tapping against his thigh aggressively.
xxx"uh, yeah. i had this coin that i brought from home? you know, just in case we happened to run into a taco stand or something that only accepted pesos." he joked, too embarrassed to reveal that a coin his abuelo had given him when he first went to school had become some sort of bizarre comfort object. being concerned about losing a valuable necklace was understandable. his sisters were always worried that they were going to lose an earring when they went out, so he figured it was just as easy to lose a necklace. but a peso? there were thousands of others in the world, he could always just pick one up off the street or take one from his younger brothers. it was stupid to be so worried about something so insignificant. roy's eyes stayed glued to the ground in a desperate attempt to look for his missing coin.
xxx"maybe i can help you look for your necklace. what does it look like?" he offered, mentally cursing himself. he had more important things to do than help addison look for her necklace. wasn't this supposed to be an every-man-for-himself kind of competition? roy just couldn't help himself, however. he was just too nice of a guy, or so he thought. "i mean, we could help each other out. there's no use in both of us just wandering around this stupid inferno alone when two heads are better than one." he continued to dig himself deeper in this partnership, whether he wanted to or not. he had just unintentionally put finding her necklace above finding his peso, making it easier for her to win over him. wasn't he supposed to bring home the glory to his own family? not help someone else get the spotlight while he did all of the work. despite his mind screaming at him to not help her, that he could do this task on his own, thank you very much, his heart bled for addison. he knew how she felt about losing her necklace; presumably the same way he felt about losing his peso. roy didn't like to see other people suffer, so he reached out to help addison, his eyes adjusting in the dark to also look for a band of silver lying on the ground, hopefully next to his peso.
xxx"do you think the others are here too?" he asked, unable to keep quiet for very long.

name;; zoe adelaide boudreaux house;; horned serpent - token;; old family cookbook - tagged;; none - location;; burning forest------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
there's always that moment of regret when your name gets called out loud and everyone turns to look at the you and all you can think of is something that rhythms with duck. there were so many ilvermorny 7th years that had put their name in the cup, even from all the four of the houses, but yet zoe's name was called. they of course butchered her last name, because they were british and not used to fancy names with to many extra letters. dumbledore did his very best, but as her name called she felt a wave of crushing reality that numbed all senses just kind of leaving zoe standing there as a shell. looking slightly to her left then to her right, twelve, seemed like a lot, but at least they had their fellow house champions on their team; four brains were better then one. this is just going to be oddles of fun she thought to herself and she was directed to sit at the ravenclaw table, the horned serpent's sister house. though even with the same core values being the same between the houses they still felt different and it almost made zoe loose her appetite, that was until the desserts started to roll out. zoe wasn't the bravest, smartest or really even the most qualified person to really become a champion, but with the odds so small in her favor she figured why the heck not. she regretted that thought as she started to stress eat cake. looking longingly at the devil's food cake that the house elves really out did them selves with and wished life could have been as simple as it was back home.
the evening was over almost as soon as it began, and zoe couldn't have been happier to follow the ravenclaws to their perched tower library so get a good nights rest. it had been a long day, longer then it ever needed to be and all zoe wanted was to curl up in a nice feather bed with twitch and a good book. her feet felt heavier and heavier with every step she took and when she finally pushed open the heavy wooden door she was greeted with a wave of warm air and twitch purring around her ankles. "finally, peace," she said scooping up the cat she practically had to smuggle to get him into hogwarts, but being the expert transfigurist that she was she got him in undetected, well that was until it was already to late. the room was empty, probably due to everyone in the library making friends and talking all things zoe could do without. flopping onto the bed zoe pulled out her old cook book and an instant feeling of relief wafted over her, everything was going to be okay. i mean how hard could these challenges really be??she thought slowly stroking the worn binding with a rubberband holding it all together. closing her eyes holding it close to her chest as twitch made himself comfortable right by her head everything is going to be fine
though upon waking up to the smell of smoke zoe could tell everything was not going to be fine. her eyes had popped open the moment smoke had teased her nose. "son of a mother freaking biscutt" zoe muttered to herself as it hit her, this is the first task. honestly should have seen that coming, cant get one night of rest when your magically bound to a tournament.
"This is the First Task, Something vital to you has been taken, and it is your objective to seek it out and reclaim it for yourself. The other Champions will be performing as such and you are advised to move quickly..." the voice seemed to ring out of nowhere but yet only in my head. "coolio, awesome, this is just more fun then a bundle of puppies" zoe muttered as she brushed herself off wondering what they could have taken from her. could it be someone? was it something? "alright lets try something stupid, accio token?" she knew it was stupid as all she heard was the falling of trees and the crackling of bark. well standing her was doing nothing for her so she started to briskly jog trying to think of what could have been taken, "ROY! ADDISON! BRODIE! they were the only chance of getting out of the fire as a team. running around trying to find some semblance of a person or just something out of the ordinary something shiny catches her eye. in part of a hollowed out tree almost completely engulfed in flames there was a coin, or what looked like a coin. intrigued by it zoe ran over to it, muttering a few charms to prevent her hand from burning as she reached into the hallow grabbing hold of the coin. a peso? the heck not over thinking it to much she continued her search for another living person.
"Roy! Addison!? Brodie?anyone?" she called out standing in a particularly less fiery part of the forest. standing still for a moment she did a slow 360 trying to find something to help her find someone or at least the exit. running her hands through her hair, she stood there trying to keep herself from freaking out to the point of not being able to win this task. i mean how hard could it be to just run our of a burning forest with something special that you first have to find, she thought sarcastically to herself. if only she could be back at her family's home cooking up some gumbo and family being around you to kepp you company. her eyes started to sting from all the smoke causing her to cry a little bit. "ughhh i just wanna go home" zoe called out to no one "i just want some gumbo" she dropped to her knees a bit wanting nothing more then the smell of shrimp and tony's to fill her lungs instead of smoke. though in her moment of weakness she realized what was so special to her..."my cookbook"i hope to god that they put a charm on it, she hoped, because her precious cook book was full of all her family's passed down recipes not to mention pictures of her brothers and other momentoes. looking around once more, how was she suppose to find a cook book in this inferno.

miles deacon
(school) hogwarts xx (location) somewhere in the forest xx (tags) lindsay xx (words) 860
the best part of miles day was definitely dinner. the week had been hectic, no doubt. miles sat with his fellow ravenclaws, gaining a few looks from nearly every one of them. the quiet, sweet boy had put his name in the goblet essentially as a joke between his classmates. why would the most anti-social kid get picked? it was rubbish. of course he had friends here and there, people he talked to, but he always thought you had to be... popular to get voted. and yet, he was proven wrong. of course. and yet, people still stared, as if it were the end. miles, however, shrugged it off, like usual, and gazed down at his empty plate, before thinking of what to eat. after nearly a moment, his favorite dish appeared, potatoes and hotdogs. it wasn't just a hotdog with mashed potatoes on the side, it was something completely different. it was a cooked hotdog cut up and mixed in with squared potatoes, with a side of ketchup. it was really good, frankly. as he sat quietly to eat, he listened to everyones conversations around him. and of course, people were talking about the tournament.
he remembers standing there with his house as the champions began to get announced. the first to be called was a fellow hogwarts student, a gryffindor. mikuru celestia. he nodded to himself in quiet approval. she seemed like an excellent pick for the tournament, and gryffindor probably couldn't be prouder. next was philip cokes, the hufflepuff. again, a great pick. miles knew the boy, and often found him talking to philip about books the younger boy has read recently. he was whisked from his own thoughts when he heard his name. his name. miles. he turned his pale eyes upwards to see everyone looking towards him. he cleared his throat, straightening his shirt, and walking up to join the other champions. the gazes he got were indifferent, some were happy, thrilled even. and some were scared, startled. he stood there, staring off into nothing, before lindsay durham was called. another great pick, especially for slytherin. it was too bad ravenclaw couldn't say the same.
yes, he was disappointed he was picked. he didn't see it as a dishonor, oh no. he was honored. he just felt... guilty. ravenclaw deserved a much better champion than he, and everyone knew it. but, there was no going back. he would pull through and do everything in his power to make his house proud. the boy pushed his dinner away abruptly, before standing and collecting his few books, clearing his throat awkwardly. he nodded to his slim group of friends before proceeding towards the ravenclaw common room. it took him a few moments, but once he arrived he hastily made his way towards his bed, and set his things down on the small desk besides his cot, and went through his clothes to find his nightwear. once he changed, he made his way to argo, who was perched on the windowsill, staring at him with content, dark eyes. miles smiled ever so slightly, before allowing the animal to crawl up his arm. with that, miles walked back into his bed, quickly moving to lay down. he let out a wide yawn, chuckling quietly as argo crawled around. as miles pulled the sheets up to his chin, he remembered his watch. he took it off, and set it to the side on the table. miles stared at it for a moment, before closing his eyes, sighing contently. sleep soon washed over him.
a burning sensation in his right palm woke him up. "argo i swear on merlins beard," he started, sitting up quickly. after barely a second, miles realized he wasn't in his bed anymore. and it wasn't argo, it was a patch of embers his hand laid on. miles quickly stood up, dusting himself off. he noted his new apparel, boots, pants and a blue and grey long sleeved shirt, with the hogwarts crest on the left side. he reached for his wand on the ground, before a voice startled him. 'this is the first task, something vital to you has been taken, and it is your objective to seek it out and reclaim it for yourself. the other champions will be preforming as such and you are advised to move quickly...' miles froze, checking his pockets as if he lost his wallet. then it hit him. his watch. his precious watch... he was foolish to even take it off. miles bit his lip, before looking around for any signs. miles spotted a break in flames to his left, and he took off in that direction, careful to avoid falling trees or bark. suddenly, he realized that he might need to find his schoolmates. so of course, he did something stupid. "mikuru, philip, lindsay!" he cried out, keeping the panic out of his voice. after no response, the boy continued running. through the smoke, nearly five minutes later, he spotted a figure. he slowed down, letting out a cough or two, before recognizing the slytherin girl. "lindsay!" he exclaimed relieved, doing his best to smile at the girl.

school;; beauxbatons ◍ location;; unknown area of forest ◍ tags;; adelie ◍ mood;; motivated, in awe ◍ words;; 341
In the midst of all his panic and the smoke, having someone run into him gave him a little shock, but straightened himself out, and cleared his head from the fog. Hugo could almost say he had never been more relieved to have someone collide with him, especially one from his own school, whom he would feel no guilt if he worked together with.
"Yes, Adelie! You have no idea how glad I am to see you." Hugo turned around, laughing. He had no idea why he was laughing. The adrenaline had probably already gotten to him. The weight on his shoulders pushed him down but urged him to go harder, be better, and so Hugo did not beat around the bush like he normally would. "I'm very sure the vital item for me is my necklace, no? I know I'm careless, but never this careless. I'm very sure they must have taken it." He added, eager to prove that he was not dead weight in the school team. "Unless you have figured something else out. You Ombrelunes are clever." The compliment slipped out of his mouth before he could stop it. Yes, he wished he could be something more, but where was the fun in that?
Something warm twirled down from behind onto his arm, black and crisp but still sparkling with the remains of a fire. He looked back. The fire was inching towards them, closer and closer, crawling and consuming. The heat was pleasant at first in the cool autumn night, but he started to feel like he was in an oven, slowly being cooked alive.
"I think we should start walking because the fire is a lot closer than before. And we should keep an eye out for our vital items, of course." He set off at a moderate pace. "What I don't get is how we're supposed to find them in an environment like this. It's almost like hide and seek, but with terrible consequences." He smiled, trying to lighten the mood with his depressing statement.

Unyielding╚═════════╝ Right away when noticing the fire Lindsay cast the Bubble-Head Charm on herself. The charm was typ
ically used for having a fresh supply of air when underwater but Lindsay imagined it would preform ju
st as well in this situation. The irritation in her eyes and lungs began to soften as she turned to cast he
r next spell uttering the words Aqua Eructo. Keeping her wand pointed directly in front of her Li

irehouses. But she soon found that it did little, as the fire was already so vast and ever expanding. How
ever, it did fare well to maintain a safeish path to travel on.
A large deadly crack sounded above her and Lindsay quickly avoided a falling tree branch. Changing h
er spell she spoke Aguamenti and conjured a huge wave to wash over the branch. Stepping over i
t she heard someone calling out names. The voice appeared to have no accent in recognition with her
ears. She soon saw the blue Hogwarts uniform of Miles Deacon. Internally she did admit she had been s
urprised when learning he entered his name in the Goblet of Fire, but he was here now and they would
all have to prove their worth.
She made her two spells disappear to speak clearing to Miles. "I would recommend either the Water-Ma

be any other students, Hogwarts or not, in the general area. Though the crackling of the fires did ma

missing, what has been taken from you?" She asked him. With another wave she reinstated Aguamenti.
