Hollytail looked up. "Your fault for having feelings toward another she-cat." She said. Thought in a teasing way. Maplepaw laughed and cuffed Thronpaw as he rolled his eyes.

sandclaw bit his bottom lip as he refrained from retorting something in his defense. if he was going to be quite honest, he didn't have an excuse. that was completely wrong on his part and he was never going to forgive himself, either. it appeared hollytail felt the same way and just wouldn't let it go but perhaps she was just teasing him. these days, it was difficult to tell them apart, but he caught a glimpse of a tone in her voice that implied she was teasing. sandclaw let out a sigh of relief. "for a moment there i thought you were still upset at me..." he trailed off, furrowing his eyebrows cautiously. "wait... - are you?" he asked, letting that hang in the air for a few moments. it felt wrong questioning his mate but he needed to know. otherwise, how would they ever fix the past? if it was up to him, he would just forget about it entirely, but then the problem wouldn't actually be solved. he figured this was the best way to go about it.

"Hm... deoends if you forgot you had a family, I was more upset, because you started having feelings for her, only a few days after these guys were born." Hollytail meowed flicking her tail at Maplepaw and Thornpaw. "And not to mention, two of your kits were sick."

he was wrong. that was not the best way to go about it. he clenched his throat, not daring to meet hollytail's eyes. instead, he veered them away toward his kits, watching in sympathy as he realized how miserable of a father he had been the past few moons. he gave a curt nod. "i see." sandclaw nodded slowly and looked at hollytail. "i didn't necessarily forget about that... i knew." he admitted. "how could i forget about something that was so important to me? hollytail, you have to understand..." he trailed off, begging her for mercy. begging her for forgiveness. "i'm sorry." it wasn't enough, he knew, there was so much more he wanted to say that was left unsaid, but he hoped that she at least could come to understanding that he truly was sorry. all he wanted was for things to go back to normal. he wished that he never had made the mistaken of falling head over heels for someone else, but unfortunately, he had... and it was too late to change the past.

[Vylad]

Hollytail sighed. "Sorry doesn't save your kits. However, I can forgive you, but I can't forget." Hollytail meowed. She laid down and closed her green eyes.

(Plot twist, she's expecting! Just kidding :3)

he nodded, "i know. i just thought, you should at least... hear those words out loud." sandclaw pointed out, and at the mention of forgiveness he brightened up, only to tense up again as she mentioned she would never forget his mistakes. "fair enough." he nodded, watching as she laid down. he often felt like he didn't deserve hollytail in his life, but he had no idea how to come out and tell her that. he stood to his paws and joined his kits, their kits, sitting down next to them. "i'm sorry you had to see that." sorry. it seemed like he had said a lot of that lately. but yet it didn't seem like he had said it enough...

Maplepaw shrugged. "Meh." Thornpaw on the other hand. "Do you know any other words then sorry?"

(Hollytail would beat him up for that xD)

those words suddenly hit him in the heart. he furrowed his eyebrows and laid down, resting his paws on his paws. "of course i do. why would you say that, thornpaw?" he asked sternly. of course he could see why thornpaw would ask such a question but what he couldn't see was why he would say it aloud. didn't they know how sensitive he happened to be? he took words to heart. he had emotions, didn't others know that? sometimes it seemed like everyone around him was insensitive and didn't care about others feelings. it was as if they thought he didn't have any. "gather around, we need to have a serious discussion." he ordered, sitting up and staring calmly at maplepaw, who seemed to be keeping quiet. he wondered why. it was quite possible she simply didn't have anything to say to him, and he couldn't blame her. not one bit.

"Yes dad." Hollytail said padding over to him. She was the only one who was not near them. The rest were right in front of him.

Beetlenose snorted. "Fine, fine," she said with a small laugh. She turned her yelow gaze to the herb storage, carefully grabbing two herbs. "although it is dried out, this is Chickweed. And this one," she pausd to motion at the leaf beside it, "Is a blackberry leaf."
