1 x 1 w/ Ineffable Woes

He looked at her, chewing the bite of his burger that he had just taken. Once he was done he spoke "To be honest I wasn't planning on coming. I had some vacation that I was going to use to visit my sister but she encouraged me to come." He paused, looking across the table at her. "I'm glad that I changed my mind." Luke said, taking another bite of his burger.

Rayne could understand that decision, family usually came first for her but she needed a holiday and a free one was not something she was going to turn her nose up at. She smiled softly and ate a few more of her fries and had a sip of milkshake. "That's pretty cool of her, my brother would have sneaked on with me if he wasn't so difficult to hide." The woman laughed softly as she carefully picked up her burger and took a bite.

Luke smiled. "My sister is very bossy, you can't really say no to her. How many siblings do you have?" He asked her. He had grown up in a fairly large family. They were a close family and was happy that they could all support one another. Luke continued to eat his meal, taking turns dipping his fries in the ketchup and then in his milkshake.

She understood that, her brother was extremely protective of her, even though she had really only been with them since she was sixteen. They were a close pair and it had helped her transition from one way of life to the other, in having a family that she lived with. She had only recently moved out, that was an interesting time. Amusing, to say the least. "I've only got an older brother, which is more than enough for me." She grinned softly, having another bite of the burger.

Luke smiled, understanding what she was getting at. "Ahh, I see. Protective is he?" He asked. He knew what it was like to be protective towards his sisters. There were many times that he had to hold back when they were dumped in their teen yeaars, or when someone had been completely out of line. Now that his siblings were older he trusted them to make the right decisions.

She nodded, in the middle of a large bite of burger, covering her mouth politely with her hand as she tried to get it down, laughing awkwardly as she wiped her mouth with her tissue napkin. "A little too much. You would never think I've only known him and my parents for... six years. We look weirdly alike, too." She grinned softly and moved to eating ketchup dipped fries, in between sips of milkshake.

Luke finished his burger and began working on the remains of his fries, reloading up on ketchup. He smiled at her when she tried to finish her mouthful. "If you don't mind me asking..how did you end up in the system? I know it's a very personal question and you don't have to answer if you don't feel comfortable." He looked at her, gaze soft and welcoming. Even though they didn't know each other very well he wanted her to feel comfortable with telling him things.

"You know, I don't even know myself but I never really wanted to. I was happier in my naivety than I would have been knowing." She told him softly, having a longer sip of her milkshake. "I've been in a few foster homes, but there's was the one I was happiest in and they applied to adopt me not so long after I had initially moved in with them and it went from there." She grinned, ooh'ing softly in thought as she pulled out of her phone to take a quick snap of her half eaten meal. "You reminded me I need to make him jealous that he couldn't come."

Luke smiled at her. "Well I am glad you do found a good family to be with." He watched her take the picture. "My other sister wants me to video call her later. I can rub it in later." He smiled. She had wanted to take his spot on the cruise as she loved cruises. Luke wasn't sure if he wanted to call her later as the time zone difference would most likely wake her up.

"So am I, I couldn't have found any better." She grinned softly, putting her phone back into her bag, only ever taking it out to take a picture, often to brag to her brother, or to post on instagram later in the day, as she was indeed known to do, but she would never have it out and use it for other things. She preferred conversing over texting, any day of the week. "That sounds like my plan too. My parents like to make sure I'm safe so we'll be having a family conference call on skype." She laughed softly and had another bite of burger.
