Drew glanced at the clock as he attempted to finish the poem he was writing. So far, he had,

He quickly folded the note and scampered upstairs just as the clock chimed six. Breathing a sigh of relief, he burrowed under the covers, reveling in the plush warmness as Devin and Senka opened the door to his room. "Hey there kiddo." Devin said, pulling the covers up to Drew's chin, "Sweet Dreams my little Cinnabun." Senna had stopped and picked up a folded scrap of paper of the floor. Drew's eyes widened, and he shrank under the covers slightly. He had never shown his parents his poetry before, and this particular poem.... He watched Senka's lips move as he read the poem, and shrank slightly as his father approached the bed. He was surprised when Senka leaned over and kissed his forehead, "Love you Cinnabun." Hey, everyone! I've invited you here to talk about the curfew.

As you all know, it's too soon. We can barely finish homework,
and it's why the Xbox is always on in the- ohgosh - why boxes
of art are left everywhere. It's why we've been less productive
and less social. This results in depressing days, unfinished art,
and sometimes, embarrassingly overprotective parents.

Am I saying I know better than you? No. But I think it'll be
good for us, to explore our surroundings a bit more instead of
our minds. It'll definitely be a benefit for us all, and we can
revert if this turns out to be a bad idea.

So what do we say? A week with extended curfew?

Senka sets a harsh curfew for this kit and their siblings at 6 o'clock every night! How does this kit react?: While Serenity loves her dads, she thinks Senka's curfew is a little silly. Being the little rebel that she is, she often breaks the curfew by climbing out of her bedroom window into the branches of an oak tree. She spends an hour or two in these branches, watching the sunset or the stars, before she goes back inside for her bedtime. Sometimes she loses track of time, and Devin has caught her out of her room, but she's never far from the house when she sneaks out so she doesn't get into too much trouble.

Whenever she gets caught she tends to be cautious for a few days, and she butters up her dads with cookies or other sweet treats before sneaking out again. She finds climbing 'her' tree and watching the stars relaxing, and after a hard day of school and siblings, she likes to just go out there and spend time doing things she enjoys.

I used to think that my friends were so lucky to have parents
that let them do what they wanted to do. Amelia's mom lets
her stay up as late as she wants. Jericho's dad never makes
him study and he can play games all night. I was so jealous!
It just wasn't fair. My dads make me eat broccoli, they make
me read every day, and they check EVERY SINGLE QUESTION
of my homework.

But this year we started secondary school. Amelia always sleeps
during class, and Jericho's grades are just terrible. He might
have to repeat the grade.

It's hard, reminding myself that my dads set the rules because
they care (Honestly, curfew at 6pm?! Guh.) but seeing how hard
it is for my friends to keep up, it's something that gets more
obvious as I get older. It still chafes when I have to go home
before anyone else, but I'm always ready for the next day...

My dads are doing a good job helping me grow into someone
who can be whatever she wants to be.

But don't ever tell them I said that!!
