This might sound dumb and im so sorry...

Im going to Texas for two weeks, without the love of my life. Im gunna miss her so much IDK how Im gunna do it. So used to sleeping next to her Im gunna be awake all nighy wishing she was there.

Two weeks is such a short time.
A blink of an eye.
It'll be over before you know it.
At least it isn't a month...

I'm from Canada and all but looking at everything going on in the USA is legit stressing me out to the point of tears.
where has people's humanity gone? where is their empathy? how can they turn people away in their time of need? it's a matter of life and death, but no one seems to care at all.
I'm losing all hope for the human race. I try so hard to be the optimistic idealist and help people but people just get colder and colder.

The internet brings the worst out of people. But honestly everyone I met here is honest and optimistic.

On a larger scale, it does seem like things are getting out of hand. That is until you look closer...

Just yesterday I witnessed quite a bit of kindness and generosity from complete strangers (I'm traveling, so its not even people I know, or even my little corner of the world). Yeah, I encountered a bit of selfishness, and yeah, it still drives me insane, but a lot of that selfishness is linked to people focusing more on what they are doing at the time.

It may frustrate me from time to time, but that self centeredness is also self awareness. Self awareness means that they are actually paying attention to themselves and what they are doing in the moment. It frustrates me, but also gives me some hope.

Its a bit like a tornado, I guess... from the outside, it looks like a swirling malestrom of death and destruction, but at the center it is beautiful and calm. There will be damage, but you can always rebuild stronger, and that's when the amazing part shows up - complete strangers pulling together to create lasting change!!

This sounds such a petty and dumb thing to be upset about but I'm so angry right now-

It is currently 1 am, my new headphones just broke. I didn't even have them for a month
and the wire is gone, it is broken so music plays out of one side only. I can replace to wire
(as my headphones are fancy so I can easily change to the wire) but I'm angry because they
are expensive. They cost £100 and the wire didn't even last for a month!

Put it this way, I got a pair of headphones for £6 and the wire lasted well over
six months. You would think a pair that cost £100 would use better wires, clearly
not! It was not my fault, I don't even know what I did- the wire must have been
super thin or something...I didn't even pull on it, it just broke.

This may not sound like a big deal but I'm one of these people that HATES silence.
I like listening to something or having anything on in the background- silence makes
me nervous and scares me...it makes me feel alone. So yeah headphones are really
important to me...

Also, I'm going to have to tell my dad but I know he will have a go at me, even
if I try to explain what happened.

Cost has absolutely nothing to do with quality... if you asked my friends for a list of words that describes me, it would either include "cheap" or "thrifty". I don't have a lot of spending money, so I try to use it the best I can, and I discovered a while back that the cost of an item is usually linked more to a name than a particular level of quality.

You buy Beats headphones (for example), even on sale, you are helping pay for their advertising. My dad used to point out that wearing a brand was free advertising for them. They pay these celebrities millions of dollars, and free products to be in these commercials. Who do you think pays for that?

The consumer, the buyer, you.

I'm not saying don't get the brands, because for some, its a status symbol. For others, its a certain feature (I asked for an Alexa Dot for the winter holidays, for example). For still others, its being able to brag about how much it cost. Dont fall into this last group unless you are able to get a really good deal for a really good item.

Most people aren't able to hear the difference in quality between fancy headphones and drugstore headphones, anyways.

I suggest you let you dad know as soon as possible what happened. The longer you take, the harder it will be to tell him. Explain how it happened, and your strategy to fix it (which sounds really cool, BTW - I don't think I would have even thought of it, or the skill to do it), and I am sure he will be impressed with your honesty and maturity!

So I'm going on a trip to New York next year for school, and I'm getting a little worried.
It's not until February 2018, but I'm still kinda worried. Mainly about being on a plane because I don't do well with flying. I'm also a bit worried about Trump and what state America might be in by then. I mean I'm probably just being a worrywart stemming from all the dystopian fiction I've been reading (1984, Handmaid's Tale etc), but it still scares me.

Just wanted to vent really.

On a more helpful note, for those of you with anxiety/panic, there's this really good free app that my therapist recommended to me called "mindshift" which gives you chill-out tools and advice on dealing with symptoms, as well as giving you information on exactly what anxiety/panic is and what's actually happening in your brain when it's happening. It's really good and had been helping me out a lot, it's definitely worth a look.

The fact that the sound quality is amazing but they gave the headphones such thin wires that they broke really quickly without me doing anything- that is why I'm annoyed. They seemed really good quality and I could tell they were well made because of the weight (that is something my dad taught me, apperantly the heavier they are the better quality but idk if that is always true) I'm annoyed because they used the most pathetic wires that were that fragile that the smallest amount of moment just snapped it. I actually have no idea what the brand even is and it is certainly not anything special. I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to brands; I personally couldn't care less, as long as I got it for a good price and it does what it is meant to (and does it well) I'm perfectly fine and happy :p

I'm not that mad because I didn't pay full price, I got them in the sale (well that explains why they were on sale then- lol). I mean I can easily replace the wires as like I said as they were an expensive pair so I can easily replace the cable without needing to buy new headphones. I've had this happen before and that is why I had to buy new headphones in the first place. I don't like using earbud type ones as the sound quality on them seem terrible and they hurt my ears. I can tell the new pair I got had much better sound quality when they broke- my old pair I could put up with listening to it to with one ear these ones I cannot at all. I have no clue where I would be able to get the wire I need from though that is the only issue. Ahh I will have to try and talk to him about it because he might have one laying around I could use.

You did help me btw- you made me feel less nervous about it. I might wait for him to call me first (he doesn't live
with me) because I know if I ring first he will be able to tell something is wrong or I want something and that
will also likely make him more annoyed at me ;-; Oh well I can try anyway-

i understand how you feel, sort of. i used to get like that! but don't let it bring you down. there's no need to think that we would think it's a silly thing to get mad at, because some things mean more to others. but try again next time! i imagine the topic moves quite quickly, so just keep an eye out at all times. i'm sure everything will work out fine soon!<3

ive lost many people the past year, whether to death or to moving away. tsa has taken over my entire life. i stay after at school every day until dark and have homework for every class, including, still, tsa. ive lost contact with many friends because of tsa, being unable to have free time since saturday is 'family day' and sunday is my church day, so im required not to even leave the house except to go to church. my life feels like its crumbling to pieces and i hate it. in april im going to panama with my best friend (thankfully she hasnt given up on me) and im so excited, but last night i got a reminder on my phone that the week we had been planning to go is also the week for the mid-season competition in iowa for tsa. im so done. i cant quit. i enjoy it so much. but the competition is mandatory. but i cant lost my best friends trust or friendship, reliability... i dont know what to do anymore. everywhere i turn are more obstacles ripping me apart.
