"trust me, i know. i was once legitimately fired from my job." he chuckled. he remembered when he was working at a fast food joint, and after he boss started yelling at him, he put his hand on the bbq where they grilled burgers. wasn't a fun job. he looked at his watch, and was relieved they still had an hour to chat.

brook smiled as he spoke. "at least i'm not the only one whose had a terrible boss. honestly i'd quit if i could, but i need the money to pay for my apartment". unlike a lot of others, brook didn't actually live with her parents. about two months ago they said they were going out for the night. of course brook didn't see anything wrong with it. i mean, her parents would need some time together every once in a while, but the following morning they still weren't back. each morning she woke up hoping they finally decided to come back, but they never did. she had to pay for the apartment herself, and she was struggling.

"haha. i'm actually quite happy with my job currently. it's quite nice." he told her cheerfully. "do you live nearby? i have an apartment just a few miles from here." he explained. he hoped she lived close. it would be quite nice to have her live nearby. his ear flicked as an old couple started arguing some tables away, and took a sip of the coffee.

sge thought about it for a moment before replying. "i live relatively close. i live about 20 minutes away from the college actually. hey, do you have any classes after lunch break?" she wanted to ask him if he wanted to walk there with her, but she was a little scared too. after all they'd only met a few minutes ago.

harper nodded, finishing off his coffee. "i have literature. not my favorite, but anything's better than history class." he joked, wiping coffee off his lips. he smiled at her kindly. "hey, can i get your number?"

"of course! pass me your phone, i'll put my number in." brook got out her sorry excuse for a phone. unlike most people her age, she didn't have the latest model of phone or anythig majorly expensive. she didn't have the money to spend on one, do the one she had at the moment was fine, despite how broken it looked. she unlocked it and dug though her phone until she found her phone number. brook could never memorize it, so she had it saved as a contact. she waited for him to hand his phone over, so she could put her number into his phone.

"yeah, of course." he pulled out his phone, an iPhone five. it was a gift from some friends, as they knew just as well as he did his 'parents' weren't going to get him one. his parents passed away right before he turned one, so he was taken in by a family friend. the family had already two kits, and harper never did meet eye to eye with them. when everyone wanted something, he would always pick last. if there was a fight, he was always to blame. he disliked the family, so the very week he turned of age he moved out, went to college, and rented his own apartment. he handed the phone to brook, and watched as she put her number into his phone?

she took hold of the device and typed her number into his phone. she saved her contact as 'brookie <3' and handed it back to him. "there you go. obviously you can change the contact name to whatever you please but it seemed too formal to me to just put 'brooklyn." she laughed a little and locked her broken iphone 4. the screen was smashed, and she was surprised it was still usable. "so what things do you like to do? you know, for hobbies and such."

harper smiled when he saw the contact name. 'brookie <3' he repeated it in his head. he closed his phone, and shoved it into his pocket. he shrugged. "i'm quite into stars, as you can probably tell, but i do have a liking for writing." he told her. "and you?"

she laughed a bit, thinking about it. "well i have a guitar i like to play occasionally. i enjoy singing too but i'm not very good at it. i go swimming often too." she paused before carrying on."im a sucker for books too."
