have any of you seen the movie giovanni no shima? it was a serious surprise at how nice it was, and it was really sad, a bit melodramatic, but really sad.
definite recommendation from me if you like feels!

heyo! I need some anime recs. I
really love the western cartoons
Steven Universe and Voltron and
was wondering if there's some
good space anime out there. I
know it doesn't completely count
as one, but I really loved Gurren
Lagann and it's got some space
parts.

as for my taste in anime, I am
not a fan of harem anime or into
romance anime either, unless
there's lesbians, in that case I'll
enjoy it more. I already saw the
one about lesbian space bears and
liked it but I need more space
anime, preferably with more
mature themes with good plot
and/or characters. extra points if
it will completely crush my soul
and/or female main characters

also, doesn't have to be space
themed, I'm open to ideas

edit:: I've noticed I'm oddly drawn
to anime with low-key canibalism
such as Attack on Titan, Tokyo
Ghoul, Kabenari of the Iron Fortress
and Parasyte. don't know why, I just
like em.

space anime with mature themes you say? c: i have a couple of suggestions, but they're all pretty long.
the gundam series - the absolute love of my life, the classic war drama series is amazing <3
space brothers - interesting show with a lot of research into it, really sweet
the legend of galactic heroes - considered by a lot of people to be the best anime ever made, I wouldn't agree, but it's pretty fantastic
galaxy express 999 - one of my favorite shows actually, and it's sense of adventure is great. also maetel is the waifu of all waifus, she's wonderful
again, they're all really long.. but i think that makes it worth it.

most space related animes are generally more show about aliens. I haven't watched many myself but i just finished Suisei no Gargantia or the english name Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet. I don't have much to compare it to but quite enjoyed it. It's got a bit of a darker side to it unlike Steven Universe and Voltron both of which i love. I'm also going to presume you are talking about the newer Voltron.

I'm just going to go ahead recommend Shinsekai Yori aka From the New World as well bc there's lesbians and i really like it. It's more of a psychological / supernatural/ futuristic anime not a space anime.

After years I finally start The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I always searched it in my mother lenguage, but could never find it. Now - I finally can english lol - I'm watching it in english c:

Probably because this is a slow season with no really great new shows?

I MEAN THE NEW SEASON OF YOWAPEDA IS LITERALLY AMAZING AND I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE ALL MY MANGA BABES FINALLY ANIMATED BUT... aside from my yowapeda bliss, there isn't a lot going on

eldlive ended up being freaking terrible which was the anime I thought might be super popular this season *shrug*
