I'll use Kaelin~!
- His medical knowledge is outstanding, and he really loves helping to heal others!
- Kaelin, sadly, did not have a very good mentor - hence the scars and consistent anxiety
- His favorite food is strawberries!
- He is missing an eye, but he doesn't count a glass eye as an option (he thinks they would be too cold, and besides, he isn't quite sure his bandages would come off at this point anyhow)
- Kaelin really loves hearing stories, and although he is a bit jumpy and nervous around others, he loves nothing more than to listen to others speak about their lives

what is the hardest thing about being in the character community?
Honestly, developing my characters. I want to incorporate them into an actual, cohesive world so that they're not just... floating random designs, but since most of what's out there are just floating random designs ("here's a blue dog with star markings with a human personality! why is it like that? shut up it looks cool") it's hard for me to turn a lot of my characters into something more formal, haha.

• she's part of a species of god-serpents called silthians; their births are linked to the creation of the universe, and each one creates and destroys the galaxies that populate it. galaxies created by different silthians have totally different "atmospheres," kinda like the different planes of existence in d&d. it's unknown how many silthians there are, but it's in the range of a couple hundred.
  
  
• she creates galaxies shaping and molding them like works of art with her six [retractable] hands. once a galaxy is finished, she sheds her scaly skin and leaves the shed as a protective barrier around the newly created worlds. over time the barrier starts to crumble, and each scale becomes a minor god who presides over the solar system it falls into. the shed eyecaps become the two major gods who preside over the galaxy, breathing life into planets and acting as leaders to minor deities
  
  
• sylvia is normally a cold goddess, only answering to others of her race unless absolutely necessary and seldom re-visiting galaxies once she's left her shed and moved on. she is, however, susceptible to falling into a bestial rage and will devour galaxies until she is calmed
  
  
• galaxies that she creates tend to be vaguely magical, but not too terribly different from our own; an earthly human likely wouldn't feel out of place on many of her worlds. they can range from high fantasy to actually very earth-like to totally unrecognizable, but they generally lean towards humanoids and some variety of magic being present.
  
  
• sylvia has no offspring of her own (though silthians are close to omnipotent and are capable of reproducing), but she was one of the first silthians born and cared for many of her younger siblings as they matured. she's absolutely ancient from our perspective, but she's only just past her peak.

If you would kinda find out and know that you own someones dream character, would you give it to them? (for free, money, art, other chars?)
Not if it wasn't already listed for sale/trade. :< I don't appreciate people asking to buy my characters unprompted.

Do you like unique characters, such as monsters, or do you prefer more "normal" characters, such as canines, felines, etc.?
Unique characters, definitely. Honestly, I'm not super huge on cats/dogs that aren't realistic (even though I own a couple orz) and unique monsters are way easier to fit into my world (I made a lot of the lore set up just to accommodate them, haha). User-made species and stuff (CS/etc) is more iffy, cause there feels like there's less variation and I want freedom in revamping/developing characters.

To answer my own question: They're pretty much totally separate. I definitely use designing/developing skills I've picked up from the character community, and I draw them as much or more than my "actual" characters, but I don't treat them like my other characters in terms of art-ordering or development (since their lives are still "ongoing"). Though my current character, Ralphye, probably has the most developed backstory I've ever written. Even the DM said it was totally overkill, haha (i sent him like three pages of details up to his great grandfather's life over the course of a couple days orz poor guy).

One of the people in my party has also kinda fringed with OC stuff and is at least familiar (i think, i don't know for sure haha), and they say that the horrible things that happen to their characters during our campaign aren't "canon" in their lives. Like, their poor druid who died a couple months ago is still well and alive in their hearts in their own world. So in that respect, they could develop him as an actual OC who's just kinda inspired by D&D?

How do you relate your D&D characters to your other characters, if at all?

As a huge fan of D&D, I would love love love to answer this!

My characters and my D&D character are completely separate - whereas my darling Eirian is a chaotic-neutral rogue who enjoys playing horrifying pranks on her teammates and taming sea monsters, most of my characters usually don't fall anywhere close to a chaotic alignment. They're also much, much calmer, haha!

Favorite character that you own:
Ughh, such a hard choice! I love all my characters a lot, but even though I have no other images of Kalik because I only got him a short time ago, he is one of my favorite characters because he has an interesting design.

How many characters do you own?:
I counted 31, but I'm probably wrong... Something around that number!

Do you consider yourself a "character hoarder?":
I guess so... Sometimes I see a very pretty or interesting design, and I just have to buy them, but later don't really use it... I want to use my characters more, and I think the 2017 character challenge is an awesome way to do so. I'm not sure that I have time to do the whole challenge, but want to do some kind of spin-off challenge at least.

(I'm really really sorry if I'm not supposed to reply, but I have to answer the D&D question. I just started playing my first D&D campaign a few months ago with a group of friends at school. I play a Dragonborn lawful neutral fighter named Bryn who is all brawn but no brain. She is the largest and most powerful of the group, but is on the older side, and has fought in a number of battles and wars alongside her favorite weapon, a sword she calls "The Deathbringer" or "Bertha." (I didn't come up with the name, a few of my friends did. I wasn't too fond of it at first, but it stuck. I have to admit, it has grown on me a bit...) My friends aren't really interested in the whole character collecting thing, I'm pretty sure some of them aren't even aware that it's a thing in the first place, so Bryn has stayed separate from my other characters. I want to use her a bit more outside our weekly D&D club meetings, or even just get or make some art of her, because she is one of my favorite characters I have ever created.)
