I was just woondering, i see in CS trades and things you are asked to title your thread "mods delete" etc when you are done to save clutter, but why are some locked instead of just deleted? I can see why some threads shouldnt be deleted as they could contain useful information if anyone ever needs to find it but and example i will give that originally made me wonder this (lol) is:
I was looking for the "is this a fair trade thread", i missed the most recent one somehow and found an old one, i cliked on the last post of the locked topic to get taken to the new one, i dont this for about 10 threads before i found the most recent one, i was just thinking wouldnt it save clutter to just delete old threads like such?
Not an essential or urgent question or problem but i just wondered

I remember hearing that they don't need to be deleted because they aren't a load on the server. However, threads like that may get locked because it is too large and is constantly being refreshed/loaded. I'm not sure of the reasoning on smaller threads though.

Nabi & Ai wrote:They lock up older threads to save spam and server clutter on them further as usually they get locked and viewed less which is the real source of so called "lag".
Hope I helped. ^^
Yeah but what im asking is wouldnt it be better to just delete these threads altogether? If they have no informational sources wouldnt it just be better off deleting rather than locking?

Lol

Sometimes, and I can say this with experience, trying to delete a 900+ page thread from the server takes -a loooong while-, so it's a lot simpler in some cases to lock it and leave it for the auto prune, or delete it when there is less site activity so it doesn't kill everything xD
Also the old locked threads usually have a last post link to the new one, as you know. I don't see however how you could have gone through 10 old threads, what were you doing to even make that possible? Lol

Well, the Fair Trade Thread usually gets, like, 200 posts per day now, doesn't it? O.o;
Feeling a bit down? Want a free pet? You may pick one pet from this group here :>)Howling ghosts they reappear
In mountains that are stacked with fear
But you're a king and I'm a lionheart
And in the sea that's painted black,
Creatures lurk below the deck
But you're the king and I'm a lionheart
