i honestly feel like nintendo's just going down more and more lately. i feel like this may be their last console, or they'll have one more after this and that's the end.

Will paid online services hinder sales? Maybe, but you have to look at what other companies are doing. The Xbox and Playstation have been doing paid online fees and people are still willing to go out and pay for it. And if we're being entirely honest, I think the Switch has better appeal than the Wii U. I had no appeal to the Wii U until Smash came out, meaning I waited over 2 years to get one, but the Switch has titles so far that I think will draw people in. Now I can't say it won't be a flop, but I think this actually is a better idea than the Wii U ever was. As I've been telling people the biggest thing Nintendo has to do is put out big titles for each of their big franchises to make people want to buy this. They need a LoZ game, they need Mario, they need Pokemon, and they need to make the games fresh and new. A big thing is, they gotta bring Smash to it too and as soon as possible. A huge reason many people ended up buying a Wii U was because of Smash Bros. I know this because I know so many people that only bought one for Smash. Much like what they're doing with Mario Kart 8, I think could be done with Smash Bros as well meaning people would have to upgrade.
Now as for the price, honestly, that's what systems cost these days. On release dates, I know other systems cost more than that so I don't see the big deal with that.
Maybe I'm more of an optimist, but I don't see this as the end. I actually think Nintendo learned from its mistakes with the Wii U and are moving in a good direction. Now that might just be me, but it's only fair to see how it plays out. Breath of the Wild seems like a nice launch title for the system since Zelda is one of Nintendo's longest franchises next to Mario. But as I said, I feel like the Switch might actually fair better than the Wii U
