"The part about who created it. That mad scientist... was me." he showed her a picture of his parents with him when he was young. "I lost my father to a car accident, and my mother died from grief shortly afterwards. I was obsessed with finding a way to repaint their bodies. That's where it all went horribly wrong. The machine was originally called the Rainbow Soul Star. It was supposed to gather energy from the seven Rainbow Paint Stars and use them to repaint the dead."

Luka, for once, frowned "so you tampered with forbidden forces? taboo?" it didnt change the fact she did see Caelan as a father figure but it did surprise her, and her, being as capricious and vexing as she was, wasn't one to be surprised. She observed the picture "oh my stars.." she said quietly

"I admit, it was something I'm not proud of, and I formed the resistance to make sure my mistake doesn't hurt others. I overlooked a key component while making the machine. The energy from the Rainbow Paint Stars must be kept separated, or the Paint Energy turns black."

Shyla, as sneaky as she was, walked into Caelans room, being careful to not make a sound, "Luka, Caelan needs his rest, come back tomorrow" The edge in her voice rised as she set a tray on a table in his room, "Don't make me have to get guards to escort you out"

Luka looked over at Shyla "but why would they need to escort me out?" she gave a nonchalant smile "Im not doing anything. He called me here"

McTail's ears twitched as he flew around the base, much like one without flight might pace in circles. But since circles were way to boring, McTail's was going in squares, triangles, octagons, and practically every shape known to goomba-kind. He wanted to be out scouting, but he couldn't without permission from Resistance Leader Caelan, who, big surprise, was holed up in his office.

Wendy saw that cutie McTail walking around and walked up to him "What's wrong McTail?"
