icepaw awoke, her tail curled around her paws. she let out a big yawn and reached over herself to lick her spine.
the commotion made her halt and glance outside curiously. was there a meeting which she had missed? how could she have missed something that important? if icepaw were to be medicine cat, she'd have to attend every single thunderclan meeting! leaping to her paws and padding out of the den, she joined the crowd outside. few were milling around the center, where...
"no!" she yowled in alarm. "this is all my fault! i didn't get up early enough! i could have given her a herb to stop the bleeding or at least some cobweb!"

Nightstar didn't look to Icepaw at first when she yowled, only swiveling her ears in her direction. Wasn't that a familiar sentiment? She padded up to the apprentice, shaking her head sadly. "Icepaw, a bite to the back of a neck kills near-instantly. Even if you were awake to heal her, there was nothing you could have done. The only cat responsible for Mouselily's death is the one who killed her." She knew her words wouldn't reassure the apprentice, but Nightstar at least wanted to try stopping the her from blaming herself.

icepaw glanced up at nightstar with her bright, blue eyes. "b-but... couldn't i have at least said goodbye to her...?" she let out a defeated sigh. she knew the clan leader was only just trying to reassure her, but she found nightstar's words strangely comforting.
her gaze travelled over to the body that was still littered on the ground as a small frown formed on her features.
