Hi everyone! Lucky is learning lots of new fun tricks. I have a slight problem. I had been brushing Lucky's teeth regularly since we got him [at around 7-8 months]. [He's a year old now] We ran out of doggie toothpaste and i didn't get around to buying any for maybe 2-3 months. I just got him more toothpaste and was brushing his teeth after he had his dinner and noticed a very small amount of discoloration on one of his canines. Should I be at all worried? I just don't want him to have problems with his teeth or gums.

It could just be some plaque build up, does it look yellow/brownish? Some dental gels can help a little, but otherwise he will need a dental cleaning to get it off. If it's just a little bit though it may not be time to do that yet. Talk to your vet at the next check up, unless his gums are bleeding/inflamed and/or he has trouble eating, then I'd take him in sooner.

He always barks at the door, if you ring the door bell, He is perfectly fine. He hates wood for some reason, when you bang/knock/move it at the least.. Any tips on helping him be better at not barking at wooden objects?

Thanks ShadowWolf. I love Aussie's, they are fun dogs. Can't wait to add my BC to the family though. I'm glad Kes doesn't hate BCs like her mother does lol.

It may just be that the sound startles him. I'd suggest working on desensitization (teaching Clyde that a wooden object isn't a scary thing), moving one small step at a time.

You start by having the wooden object at a distance (and/or making a quiet sound) and pairing it with a good thing (treat!). As Clyde starts looking for the treat, you decrease the distance/increase the volume of the sound. If he starts reacting to the object, make sure to make the distance/sound easier to handle (further away or quieter).

For this kind of training, a professional trainer can really help to make sure that you're approaching things in the right way as you don't want to accidentally make Clyde's reactions worse. Especially since he's a foster, maybe see if the rescue/shelter has a trainer that helps them out and talk with them?

So on our hike yesterday, we let the dogs climb up a huge fallen tree. We stopped them about 8 ft up and had them pose for us, then I wasn't thinking and released Kestrel. Needless to say my crazy little daredevil jumped straight off the trunk and hit the ground hard. Luckily she didn't hurt herself, but it was a good reminder to me to move my body and catch her focus with a hand cue before releasing her when she's up tall. She's too crazy to just release without showing her the way I want her to get down lol.

I can't wait to see her slide pictures lol. The previews looks hilarious, but it's hard to fully see them when it's a picture of a screen! She had no fear going down that slide either!

So, my border collie papillon puppy likes to chew up the carpet in my room, but only on the edges, and we've tried the like sour spray stuff, but then the cat claws the carpet up so he chews on it, is there any other way to stop my lil Bear from chewing up my carpet? ;-;

Do you have any thing safe for him to chew such as bones or kongs also does the cat have a scratch it could use instead of the carpet. Puppies will chew anything so they need plenty of chews or safe puppy bones.

Your dog is likely chewing your carpet and rugs because he's a puppy, he's bored, or he has separation anxiety, which can lead to chronic destructive chewing. Chewing bones is a natural behavior for dogs; providing your dog with a variety of safe chew toys will help save your carpet. When purchasing chew toys for dogs, pay attention to quality. Look for toys that can withstand heavy-duty chewing and are large enough to prevent swallowing.
Get help if your dog continues to chew your carpet after you've tried exercise, training, chew toys and play. Professional dog trainers and behaviorists can evaluate your dog and find solutions to destructive chewing.
An ounce of prevention may save your carpet. Use baby gates, dog gates or a dog crate to keep your dog away from carpet. Dogs should not be crated for more than six consecutive hours.
Correct your dog with positive reinforcement. Hitting or yelling at your dog does not help him learn and could cause his chewing to increase due to stress.
Don't give your dog scraps of carpet or toys that resemble carpet to chew; he can't tell the difference between your prized Berber and a carpet-like chew toy.
