How do you guys plan your comics? do you think of them as you go, sketch multiple pages out, or script it, or maybe something else?

I kinda just keep my ideas in my head and then start sketching. I REALLY want to script everything to not loose track like I always tend to do, but I don't know where to start with that, I've never wrote a script before. 8c

So full of hate were our eyes
That none of us could see
Our war would yield countless dead
But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe

If you have any experience with creative writing at all, I think you can start writing a comic script. It doesn't necessarily have to be script format (A: [surprised] "there you are B!" B: "did you think I was going to leave?" Etc. Etc ), it can be written like a book or a poem, or whatever, as long as it helps you plan out your thoughts and where the story is going to go!

Unrelated, but do you guies prefer to read pages that are portrait or landscape?

I personally don't care, as long as you can tell what panel is next. The orientation might also change depending on what your trying to portray, too. Like, it'd be easier to have a landscape with landscape than with portrait (depending, i guess, but still). I say just go with the orientation that you think is the best fit for the content. Wider panels would look nicer with portrait, if theres more than one, and taller panels on landscape, if theres more than one, if that makes sense?

I'm starting to script comics rather than just thinking of it as I got (woops) so hopefully they'll be more... flowing? Less scattered. TBH, though, I'm not writing them with any amount of eloquence, just kinda jotting down main things, and then I'll remember what I waned to draw. I'm also sketching out single panels of them to summarize.

I get it. Your style, panels, and sense of pacing will change what orientation your comics are!

PS I made a short comic called Drip, Drip. It's a bit more dramatic than my normal junk but eyyy it's only 5 pages

Ah that makes sense, and makes it a whole lot easier for planning things out. I really need to start on it before I go overboard with all my ideas for my comic.

And for your question: Honestly for reading comics, I like both. Either one does great and you can play around with what you like best for showing your flow, story, style, ect. As for me- I do landscape. My wrists tend to cramp up when drawing with portrait so landscape is just a bit easier in my view. But thats just me.

Also your Drip, Drip. Comic is awesome! I just adore your drawing style and how everything flows.

Unrelated: I completely lost a page I was working on. Almost 2 hours of work and something messed up with saving it, lost the whole page! But the new sketch is turning out SO MUCH BETTER so I'm happy. Super light and sketchy sneak-peek

Do you guys prefer my normal thin line style or a comic with thicker lines? I'm having a hard time choosing what to use for this comic.

That sounds cool, though! Good luck!

I've recently made a bunch of progress with the concept of my new comic, which will be a serious one that I'll work on for more than a chapter because I hAVE A PLOT! and I actually really like it! it's not something that is just okay, I actually like the plot! It's a miracle! Anyways, it's sci-fi, half of the main characters are aliens, and I just like space science so it's actually fun to do and fun to work on. I haven't done a comic like that pretty much ever so its great I'm really exited and rambling! It's currently called Aliens, Astronauts, and Agenders, but that could change... I just refer to it as AAaA. Anyway, the SETI satellites receive a message from the Andromeda, one day, and about a year later a small ship arrives. It's going to be digital, but I don't know if it'll be on CS or not. Would anyone be interested enough to read it, once I begin to draw the pages?

@Snowstar - that looks awesome! Intrigued, already! As for lines, I say go with the one you're more comfortable with, but if you can't choose, I kinda like thing lines a little better. It allows you to add more detail if needed, too.

@coelagirl - I like it! The way you drew the hand at the end is really cool, too!

Ok ok I can see that no one has posted on this thread in a while... but I have to ask:
Is anybody still out there? Are any members of this club still around?
I know webcomics on CS aren't as popular anymore but if they still have any sort of a following I would like to join in. Reading people's webcomics on this site actually played a huge part in inspiring me to improve my art skills. I kinda miss seeing people's stories in the art forums and I'm sure there must be someone else who feels the same way. Right?
Sorry for posting without being a member - if there are any of you left I'll gladly fill out an application. c:

Oh my goodness.
A post on the CSCC...
I totally forgot about this place, but lucky/lazy me, I never delete my old bookmarks. XD
So when I saw this place in the first few bookmarks on my bookmarks page, I was amazed.
I was a member a long time ago, but tbh, I never really did much comic making. I had a few comics that I started, but they never got very far. I need to think about possibly revisiting those....
It's been a long time since I've thought about the CS comics, but there were a lot of really cool ones that I used to follow.
What I really miss from here though is the community, this club had the best, nicest people ever. If any more old members (or new people) show some interest, it would be awesome to revive this club!
