Announcement:
I'll be going on a trip for most of january, so I will probably really slow down on developing ideas for that month, or I might have more time to do it..

as for the other part, I will no longer be allowing transfers as of this time. My anxiety has been going up because of some of the encounters... I shouldn't be anxious about being bullied, but I do have people who support me to try and help me through it.
I do not want to let go of this species, I love it and I owe it to the people who love it as well to give them a community they deserve.

So until I have staff and friend help in a more organized manner, no more transfers will be accepted. I'm going to stay positive about this, and I will take care of my own health this time.

In other news! Parrapups are only 500 points away from the supergroup goal! That's pretty exciting to me TvT

Hey guys, I'm getting super busy and I'm having a hard time connecting to my Parrapups. I'd love to get them new homes for the new year as I clean out some unloved characters.
I will gift out to whoever PM's me first on each one - Dimitri (belongs to ❤ Rosette ❤ now)- Sin (belongs to Ph.D now)- Nash (belongs to ❤ Rosette ❤ now) - Feel free to rewrite anything about them or change their song. You have full creative freedom on what you chose to do with them. Keep in mind that Dimitri and Sin have each bred once (with each other, their son is Nash), but you don't have to keep any relationship between them if you're not interested.
Thanks for any interest and good luck in the new year!
I'm not really active here anymore. Please don't ask for my pets or OCs!

my hands are so cold T A T It's absolutely freezing here.

In light of finally reaching our Super Group funds, I have also sketched up some lines I would be satisfied with for the arpg!

I'm just looking at the head but maybe it's just me, but the neck [on the top] looks a tiny bit odd?
but I guess when their lined it'll look more normal. right in-between the back of the skull and the
shoulders. could just be me though. but other than that it looks great! I've been holding onto my
one cupid for quite a while, I really love him.

could be cause they are bald xD I see what you mean though, but if I make the neck more thin it's even more odd to me? If anyone knows the problem, feel free to redline

Ahhhh, such cute lines <3 I agree that the "problem" that's being perceived is in the neck/head region, and it's partly from anatomical discrepancy and partly from being stylized. Did three quick little redlines for comparison's sake, though I want to be very clear that these redlines are based purely on personal opinions and assumptions of actual anatomy via observations. I could very very well be wrong about anything I say following, so strap in for this long explanation post wow... XP

To start, I've made a nice little image with four major parrapup linearts to-date focusing on their heads, shoulders, and necks. These are the basis of my observations, and I have gone ahead and scaled all of them to the same height for easier comparison. All other redlines I've used can be viewed full-size in my sta.sh HERE!
Image

First I'll address the elephant in the room: the head looks weird 50% because yes it's bald and needs a pretty little mane *pats parra* and 50% because on most standard parrapups to date, the beak has been significantly smaller in ratio to the rest of the head. To phrase this differently, it's like looking at a macaws beak vs a budgerigars beak. Image below shows a pretty good sample of what I'm talking about with different beak-skull ratios between birds.
Image

So you know I'm not crazy, here's a rough mane and hair tuft I added based on the previous manes. Still feels uncomfortable, no? No worries, this is when I noticed that the beak size had gotten larger. The beak isn't necessarily a problem though! It may be simply because of Beatnik's much improved linearting skills and realism to-date. Once again, birds have many different beaks, and I for one find this size rather charming and more reflective of the species name, more like a parrot.
Image

When comparing the head ratios of the original lines vs these I noticed that the scale of the head versus that of the shoulder was significantly different (The rule of thumb I learned is basically the base circle of the head on a cat should be about the same size as the shoulder base, hence where this redline comes in). All three previous linearts had very large heads compared to their shoulder regions that were maybe slightly smaller, whereas with this new base the shoulder is larger than the head. Let's chalk this up to Beatnik's style flux over the years and to the different base anatomies though. :) Original linearts were closer in resemblance to the anatomy of a dog than that of a large cat, where with this new lineart being based on a leopard distinctly changes the anatomy basics for a longer body, shorter legs, and a broad shoulder compared to the head. Going back to the style over the years, which is where everyone is feeling a nervous tick, the previous three linearts were specifically stylized for head emphasis where these lines are very realistic. If we apply a slight scaling to the head on these new lines, it suddenly becomes closer to the previous linearts.
Image

Feels more familiar no? Also note that in my redline I added a bit of distinction between the skull and neck vertebrate, which may not be true to anatomy but I felt would help with the "neck thinning" perception. Just for the heck of it, let's see how this big-headed version looks with a mane slapped on it for a full comparison.
Image

So yep! That's my whole take on this new vs. old lines thing. We're just not used to seeing Parrapups on a realistic base and Beatnik's style has changed with time, so it takes some getting used to. Take the comments I have made with a grain of salt and as you will, I personally am digging this new lineart so far and can't wait to see it's final product!
*rolls over to the parrapup Discord*

****EDIT****
Just noticed this right after I posted this whole analysis, but previous linearts had the necks and heads more like birds! So obviously we're all gonna feel weird about a cat-like neck instead xD It's a massive anatomy change that also results in the neck being longer in previous linearts

It's a much more realistic style so that way anyone can interpret it in their own style xD
the head looks too big to me now! I tried increasing the heads size, but then it loses the balance(?)
Like look at a cat, it's head looks kind of small anyway because their bodies are pretty large, thin, and long : o
Image

I can say though, the beak has always kind of flip flopped in an inbetween of parrot and budgerigar, especially on the newest lines by pachoopi because of it being a different artist!
Either way, there will be a small beak pack for people to use on their parras who have before-arpg ones ovo
otherwise only available through something else, i don't know yet.
This is the standard, mostly similar to a snow leopard, minus the long length that they have, and a little less poof

Here we go! What about something like this! oOo this is closer to my style and with the head up straight, allows for the neck to come out more thin

//@Depictured on Deviantart is helping me make sure they are anatomically correct

I definitely like the upright head version! It gives that nice semi-realistic vibe of a feline body but maintains that similar neck and head feel from the older lines.
