Salmonpaw

Salmonpaw picked the mouse up and brought it over to Cinderstar. She dropped it again, and took a step back. Smiling nervously, she twitched her whiskers and sat down. "I... I caught it?" Salmonpaw waited for Cinderstar to tell her where she went wrong or scold her for wasting the patrol's time.

Rabbitclaw

Rabbitclaw hissed. Kitten? How dare she! He was at least as old as she was. His tail lashed. "State your name and intentions, trespasser." He tried to keep his voice steady, but the hint of a growl edged in. Who did this she-cat think she was? He started sizing her up, in case she didn't leave and he would have to fight her. Yeah, he could take her.

(I thought it was Shadepool who is nebelung's.. If anything else, I can just promote Yellowpaw when he gets the prophecy from Starclan ~spoilers~)

Cinderstar just purred softly, her tail swishing in amusement when she noticed Salmonpaw looking like she was going to be scolded. "Great catch. You get to keep that one." The rules went that if they were on border patrol and prey was caught, it didn't necessarily have to get back to camp. "We aren't the hunting patrol, so you can share with Yellowpaw since we have time."

Yellowpaw flicked his ears, having predicted Cinderstar would say something like that.

Merry purred even more when he sized her up, sitting a little taller. "I am Merry, nice to finally meet you, Rabbitclaw." She had already overheard his clanmates on patrol earlier that day. She continued to tease him by getting up and turning around, showing him her rear. "Does this mean you're going to chase me off~?" Her head was turned so her eyes could still catch his expression.

Salmonpaw

Salmonpaw glanced at Yellowpaw and nudged the mouse towards him. "If you want, you can have it. I'm not that hungry." She didn't want to eat the mouse in front of the warriors and decided she could probably catch something else later.

Rabbitclaw

Rabbitclaw was super freaked out. How did she know his name? And now what? Was she posing? What in Starclan's name was up with loners? His ears flattened, and he took a step back, spluttering his reply. "Yes. I - You are trespassing. This isn't a difficult concept. You can't be here." Rabbitclaw couldn't understand why the she-cat - Merry? - wasn't getting it.

Yellowpaw shrugged, crouching to take a bite. "Thanks, Salmonpaw." He glanced up at Cinderstar, who had gone back to marking the borders.

Cinderstar glanced back at the younger she-cat. "I can show you how to mark the border, Salmonpaw."

Merry purred softly in amusement, taking a few confident steps away from him with her tail swishing. "Oh, really? Come and get me then."

((can i just ask what merry's game plan is here? maybe i dont understand flirting but this doesn't feel like flirting are they supposed to be flirting?? like i am actually confused here. are we working towards merry joining emberclan, or a flyby romance where she reappears two months later like these kits are yours i dont want them? whats the end game?))

Rabbitclaw

Rabbitclaw's spine bristled. His claws slid out and he leapt after Merry with a growl. Pouncing at her and trying to pin her down, he hissed sharply in anger.

Salmonpaw

Salmonpaw's tail shot up. "Sure! What do I do, Cinderstar?" She padded around to her leader's side and looked up at her expectantly.

(lol she's flirting and teasing him at the same time. Ultimately there's going to be a rouge "clan" threating Emberclan, and I was hoping eventually it would start to tear him apart since he would really love her and yadda yadda and maybe eventually she would join and switch sides for Rabbitclaw)

Merry yowled in pain when she felt his claws sink into her skin. Her lithe body wriggled under him and she was able to get out of his grasp for a few seconds. She hopped away from him, now a few tail-lengths away. "I really don't wanna use my claws on you, kitten."

Cinderstar purred softly, stepping toward the border. "Scent that tree there, that's where I just marked. There's a difference between that mark and these that are over here." She sat on her haunches. "Mark your scent where it is stale."

Yellowpaw only half listened, having already heard most of this before. He devoured the mouse and buried the leftovers.

Rabbitclaw

Rabbitclaw glared at her again, but didn't move to attack. "Then leave. You're trespassing on our territory. I don't want to hurt you either." He growled, ignoring the 'kitten' remark.

Salmonpaw

Salmonpaw sniffed the tree Cinderstar pointed out, and nodded. She padded over to the nearest bush and sniffed that too, checking to see if it was part of the border line. Satisfied that it was, she rubbed her cheek glands against it, leaving her scent against the bush. She then rubbed against the bush with her whole body, strengthening the border marks like she'd seen the warriors doing before. When she'd finished, she turned back to Cinderstar. "Is that ok? Did I do it right?"

Merry licked her shoulder to flatten some fur. "Meanie. Go back to your little clan and tell them all about me then.."

Cinderstar watched her with amusement, seeing her use the technique of many warriors before her. "Yes, that's perfect. Now this section is marked. Yellowpaw, come and help as well."

Yellowpaw sighed softly, really having no interest in doing so. "Yes, okay." He started walking towards the she-cats when he suddenly gasped, freezing mid-stride with his eyes wide. Some images flashed before his eyes, spelling out something that he couldn't yet understand.

Rabbitclaw

Rabbitclaw frowned. "I'll escort you to the border." He didn't want Merry staying too long in the territory, and figured if he was with her she wouldn't be tempted to hunt either.

Salmonpaw

Salmonpaw beamed and flicked her tail happily at Cinderstar's praise. She turned to watch Yellowpaw mark the borders, frowning a little as he stopped. "Yellowpaw? Are you okay?" She took a step towards him, concern etched across her face.

Merry somehow brightened at that. "Oh, okay!" She shook out her short coat, ignoring the small annoying stinging from his claws.

Cinderstar whipped around to see her apprentice with wide eyes and his tail fluffed out. "Yellowpaw?!"

The apprentice was tense, his vision clouded by a golden light. 'Starclan??' Yellowpaw had gotten dreams like this before, but they were always hazy and were never as violent as this.
(I'm pretending he's having some prophetic vision, I'm too lazy to come up with the actual circumstances lol)
