As long as you realized that it wasn't the right thing to say at that moment, an apology and a sincere explaination of what happened should be dealt. You aren't a horrible person, we all make mistakes and in that instant it was a practical accident of the mind. You hadn't know it was offensive until it was too late, it doesn't mean that it can't be fixed. If the person won't listen to you anymore, give it a little time to blow over, but make sure an apology is in order, would ease the cushion of guilt. I hope you can reverse what happened, it sounds like a misunderstanding.
@Lily- Keep an eye on your temperature if you can. If it drops below 95 and stays for a good ten minutes, possibly check in to a hospital. As for the appetite, if you have the opportunity to eat, go for it! If not, occupy with other desires until you can? The human brain is always intensely busy, miraculously, before sleep or even during the lethargic hours of the day, it tends to react more. What may help is to visualize building a tower of stones. Concentrate on things that require focus and movement. Once you have a good base down, try to push the bothering thoughts away and focus on what you would like to do. Hope it gets better!
